    Love my '06 LGT Spec B. Perfect sleeper, and a great daily driver. Glad to see an LGT featured here, even if it is a 5th gen.

    LOVE you giving the shout out to the 4th gen LGT's...made my day. Never forgive myself for selling my 05. Not many realize they have the same drivetrain as the WRX's for the most part - mods are identical. Forrester XT is the ultimate sleeper.

      @watsnu2day 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had an 05 lgt making 345hp and 375 tq at the wheels with a PDX tune. It was a sleeper even with the big fmic in the frint. I then had an 05 with sti turbo and sti tmic which was a lot of fun even though it was an auto. More utility out of a XT, but I did get a speeding ticket and more attention than the LGT

      Congrats! You could actually get some really decent power out of it with the right mods. Some builds are pulling 300-330whp with only some basic mods.

      @@JORDIIMusic thanks, got any suggestions for some of those basic mods?

    • @JORDIIMusic
      @JORDIIMusic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@The_Ry_Guy You'll want a j-pipe/downpipe, because the stock one is very restrictive. That would get you the most power. Other than that replace the BPV (its notoriously leaky) and that will help the car maintain boost, as well as a catback exhaust and a better intercooler

    • @scottjohnson8316

      No way in heck that 2.5 is putting down over 300 to the wheels with basic mods.....that turbo can’t make that.

    I had a 2008 LGT for almost 7 years. It was a good car, and looked A LOT better than the generation after (this one). It got zero attention on the road, and i didn't get a single ticket while owning it. I replaced it with a red 2014 Mustang and have already been in trouble. I got a good deal on the Mustang but i have to say the 08' LGT kills a 14' Mustang on overall refinement, interior quality and features...different class of car, i know.

    For my Fozzie, I picked up the rear discs off the '05 LGT which are the biggest ones available that aren't Brembo and still stock, with nice thick 18mm vented discs, and the fronts (because I've still got stock 16" wheels) are from WRX of some vintage (forget which, I think it's an '02).
    If I ever get my wish to come true and pick up an '05 LGT donor car to pull the engine and trans from, I'll probably swap to the 17" wheels from it, and therefore the bigger front discs, too.
    Since the Fozzie is a fatter car, I'll probably run some much more aggressive pads, too. Great episode, giving me some good ideas.

    "Perfect car for when you need a camry, but you still want to have fun"
    I love my LGT '10, but i actually joke about it being a camry at times. So its fair to say that your comment is right on. Most of the complaints i get from friends trying out my car are issues solved by going to the WRX/STI. Its a big comfortable car, if you want an "all out" sports car, go for the WRX/STI. The Legacy GT is a swiss army knife when the WRX is a blade, the Legacy is an "all arounder''. Besides the LGT is really just a bigger WRX with a better finish, more luxury, more comfort, and sadly, without a handbrake.

  • @michaelcianci7944
    @michaelcianci7944 10 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    sick!!! i have a '12 LGT and have been waiting to see it on one take. but it's not the shifter out of the STI. its a cable shifter the one on the STI (and the WRX) have solid linkage shifters. wish you were in something with a custom tune tho these things pick up anywhere from 20-40 peak wheel torque and even more in the mid ranges over the OTS cobb map

    • @TheSmokingTire
      @TheSmokingTire  10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      michael cianci that's so strange, it felt much better than the cable shifter used in the 2015 WRX and had an "STI" knob on it.

      Not sure why people feel like trying to correct someone when they have no idea what they're talking about.
      Speaking of Spec B's, my friend has a 200...7 I think? Spec B and it is BEAUTIFUL.
      I drive a 2009 WRX and I'm jealous of it. Black leather and blue alcantara everywhere.

    Matt,
    If you are ever in San Diego, I know some very, very, very good driving roads that are NOT popular and known, thus less traveled. They would be great places to host these viewer car specials. If you have viewers from San Diego that want you to drive their car, I'd recommend coming down here to film them.

      Always, liked the previous generation more. The BL/BP looked better, drove better, lighter, smaller and liked the manual gearbox with actual linkage and not cable actuated nonsense these gearboxes cames with. Although, the engine for this one with the undermount turbo did pull much better at low rpms.

      Aaron Waldron '11 GT. Planning on stage 1, suspension and wheels/tires to keep it reliable. It's still fun the way it is now though, I just have to do one step at a time. Got wheels and tires ordered.

    • @BloodRaven1011
      @BloodRaven1011 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very interesting. I drove a '10 2.5i and it was pretty sloppy, so I assumed the GT had lost it's edge. After this video and some looking online, it seems like it hasn't thankfully. Sounds like you have the right idea when it comes to mods.

    • @TyTekinCampbell
      @TyTekinCampbell 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aaron Waldron I've been doing lots of reading and talking to other owners on legacygt.com and these cars really wake up even with an OTS stage 1 tune and a rear sway bar. I plan on doing a set of coilovers for summer time and a 22mm rear sway. That with some 245/40R19 Federals should make it handle better, it's a plush ride stock but a little bit of a boat. Still not terrible the way it is. I've mostly just done cosmetic stuff this winter.

    Nice! The way you described the weight on the steering wheel is spot on -- on my '15 WRX it feels a bit numb until you start to lean into a turn pretty heavily and then you can feel what's up.
    Not sure if this is Subaru using a cheaper part of it was intentional to make the car feel easier/smoother at slower every day speeds but when you give it some oomf the 'sports car' awakens.

      2- there aren't many spots on that road, based on what I saw in the video, where it would be safe to overtake

    I know that road..... That stop sign at the bottom seems a little weird, because there's really no reason for a stop sign there....
    There's a turn-off a ways up that will take you to a hang glider launch. It's a great place to party when the fly boys aren't around.... At least it was 20 years ago......

    I respect that you go over the yellow lines to pass cyclists. Most dummies are scared to go over that line and are more inclined to put the cyclist in danger than pass a painted line on asphalt.

      They really aren't heavy though, not much more than an STI.

    • @Adamo2JZ
      @Adamo2JZ 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      According to a quick Wiki search, this Legacy is about 500lbs more than an STI, which is a considerable amount. Still, in relation to its size/weight, it is a fun car to drive!

    • @TyTekinCampbell
      @TyTekinCampbell 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @Adamo2JZ
      @Adamo2JZ 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ty Campbell lol Im pretty sure it is a lot more than 100lbs but whatever I'd still take an STI over this any day. This thing is ugly AF lol
