I drive a 2009 Legacy as well, and I don't love the look of them most of the time, but hats off to this guy because this is definitely the best looking one I've ever seen, by far.

I feel a lot of people don't realize that they will have to rebuilt a "built motor" in 50K or so thousand miles at least those running 2618 pistons because they just don't have the longevity. Nice build! But your save your pennies for that rebuild! Also he's put all that time into it forged internals ect and now he is just selling it? And the ringland issue is blown way out of proportion, crappy tunes & bad drivers are more so the cause of those issues. Bad drivers will never admit they drive bad therefore they blame the maker..
True, but yea he's essentially completed the build that he set out to do. There's nothing left that he wants to do to it. His block is also good for like 800whp but he's only running 400 for reliability. Doesn't change that fact that you're still nervous so you'll check the oil every day.
I hear yah, and yes I will fully admit the checking of the oil! But it's a small price to pay in my book, I just love these cars they have a lot personality compared to other brands IMHO.
He just needs to replace the valve-cover gaskets & spark plug seals and then replace the oil-cooler gasket and add a Crawford heated oil catch can and the oil loss issues should be solved..
I'm guessing the turbo is too big if he is only making 400whp and spoils at 4k+. beautiful car though... just needs a little tweaking and it would be crazy. in the age of the internet, 400whp doesn't sound like a lot but that's a solid number for a daily. I had a 435bhp gti and it was a blast. you get use to it eventually but its not slow by any means.
I love this channel, but I do feel like the review was a bit bias towards the car and I didn't feel like there were enough cons or compromises mentioned. But either way great quality and good reivew!

I loved this car I almost bought it when it was for sale by the original owner in bone stock form. The owner also has an equally impressive LGT. This car is now for sale and given the mods and the fact it is the MOST rare Legacy GT of that generation, its a steal at $26K Great car would love to have it if he ever reverts to mostly stock :)
Bags, terrible lag, and the worst sounding engine/boost sound I've ever heard. No thanks. I was excited to see this car, but after seeing it, it's a let down. Video is quality, but the car is a let down.

I'm not a huge fan of open dumps or external wastegates, but Chuck's car, in the right circumstance, had me laughing out loud (as you saw) at how crazy and raw it felt. And the bags are genuinely excellent, coming from a huge proponent of coilovers. We know that everyone has their own cup of tea, but we honestly enjoyed this build, despite the fact that it deviated from our normal preferences. -Asian Ben

Yeah, shouldn't be resonating open/closed like that... would hate to see the pressure spikes during that resonation.

That's the open wastegate mixed with the unequal length headers of a boxer motor. Produced a very unique, kind of guttural sound.

si drive DOES NOT have 3 modes of boost, it has 2 modes of boost with s# having the same boost as the S mode but with quicker throttle response
However, with Chuck having a custom tune, he's repurposed the 3 modes to control boost, with sport# allowing more boost than Sport.

It's the electronic boost control solenoid that causes that wastegate flutter. $100 on a manual boost controller and it would sound normal
