      I fixed the burning out headlights by installing an oversized battery.
      Not sure why it worked, but it did. It also smoothed out some inexplicable electrical glitches.

    I have a 2014 that I bought new. It currently has 207K miles on it. The few issues I've had so far were: airbag recall, oil consumption (about 1 quart every 2500 miles), and headlights burning out. I've had to replace the headlights roughly once per year until I installed LED replacements. The bumper does not need to be removed to replace headlights, you can access them from under the front wheel wells, but they are still fairly difficult to change- I did it so often, that I can change one in about 5 minutes, the first time took me over an hour per side. I've also heard that the short headlamp longevity may be due to a poor ground, and upgrading to a 'triple ground' system for around $100 worth of cables in a kit can cure this issue. The only parts I've ever had to replace on my car were: Serpentine belt, brakes, tires, spark plugs, control arms, tie rod ends, sway bar links and bushings (all normal wear items), Ignition coils, and the driver side window/lock control panel, and now needs an exhaust leak repaired. Overall, this car has been very inexpensive to maintain. The CVT is my main worry with regards to the longevity of the vehicle, as they don't have a very long track record, and are prohibitively expensive to replace, but so far I haven't had any issues with mine.

      @deskillz99 ปีที่แล้ว

      Regarding the driver side window lock control panel. Currently only my drivers side door locks all other 3 do not lock/unlock using the switch or fob. Did you have this issue or something else?

    I have a 2011 Subaru with 185k miles. The only time I had an issue with burning oil was when the Subaru dealer overfilled the crankcase. Then I had a blue smoke coming out the tailpipe, only during morning start up, as there was seepage past the oil rings due to excess oil level sitting overnight. Once the level was corrected, smoke went away. Have NEVER had a low oil issue between 6k mile oil changes.
    As far as the CVT, I can say SOA is full of sh!t on their “no maintenance” position, especially when a fluid drain and refill at 36k miles is recommended in both Japan and Canada. The CVT belt is metal and produces small particulate over time. This clogs the screens on the solenoids, thus causing the symptoms described in the video. Couple this with Subaru NOT selling the solenoids separate from the entire valve body assembly (nearly $1,000) and this becomes a $2,000 repair. Drain and change the CVT fluid at least every 50k miles…problem solved.
    Finally, the headlights. I believe this is more an issue with the quality of the headlights used. I did have a headlight burn out, but once replaced with a high quality Osram halogen unit, no further issue. And you DO NOT have to remove the bumper and wheel to change the bulb. Merely turn the wheel inward and take out some of the fender liner fasteners towards the front to access the bulb cap and bulb from the headlight assembly from inside the fender well. Easy peasy and about 5 to 10 minutes, maximum.
    I don’t know WHERE the producer of this video got all of this misinformation…

    • @curt2742
      @curt2742 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      He got it from the service manual. Lol
      I can't access the light by turning the wheel, I have to remove it, but it is still easier than the way you're "supposed" to do it.

      On my 2013 I have to add oil every 400-500 miles, basically with every fill up. The transmission overheats after a half hour of 70+mph driving and I sometimes experience shuddering while coming to a stop and or gears not changing properly while pulling away.

    I've had my 2011 2.5i since about 50,000 miles, now at 135,000, and I've never had to add oil between changes. Oil changes every 5,000 miles, filled to full line, still reads about the same when it's time to change.

    I own a 2013 Subaru Legacy 3.6R, H6 engine now with 145,000 miles. I have had some excess oil consumption, but the airbags were recalled on millions of cars and hundreds of models including this one as many manufacturers use Takeda. The other issues listed here I have had none of them. Of course I don't have the CVT but a five speed automatic with the bigger engine. Plan to keep the car 200,000 expecting few concerns (we lost the brake cylinder at 130,000 but that was minor). Our dashboard has not melted or any of these problems mentioned. The headlights can be removed through the wheel well, which is much easier than mentioned here. I have replaced each once so far. Never had a battery issue (replaced twice in 11 years). Live in CT, no rust - you have to wash the underside of any car you own in the northeast after every salting in the winter.

    Up till 2013, the head gaskets will go on the 2.5 Liter normally aspirated engine. It is a case of when but they will go. Now newer Subaru engines have an issue with other engine oil leaks. Seems the RTV sealant used to seal the engine wears out over time, this is also caused by blockage in the PVC valve. Pressure builds up and if the PVC system is blocked the engine oil will blow out the RTV sealant. The engine must be removed to reseal the engine, so this is a labour-intensive job. It will cost you a bundle. This video explains the problem.th-cam.com/video/cdCGKLNSodk/w-d-xo.html

    Does he have a link about the extension on the transmission issues? I have a lot of hesitation if I make several short stops and the car will often stall out before starting. I’ve also had a parasitic draw and have gone through numerous battery replacements. Usually replaced at little to no cost since they’re under warranty but definitely a flaw none the less. I have a 2015 with just under 92k. If they’d take care of my transmission issues that’d be great but this is the first I’ve heard of that. Also have loud shaking I believe coming from the moonroof when there are high winds. The whole vehicle shakes and is incredibly loud.

    Every engine experiences "oil loss" due to the spring-rate of the piston rings and the only reason it would be "excessive" in any vehicle is if those rings are gunked up with dirty oil. Keep your engine in good oil, be diligent about changing it on time and check the level. The cheapest mechanic for any car is good oil, changed on time. If "excessive oil consumption" is the "issue" your car is having, it's not the car's fault, it's the operator's fault.

      WTF does your elderly family members dying have to do with the car? Have the dealer check the ECU. I wouldn’t trust AutoZone to diagnose sh¡t. An ECU issue should throw a error code, which would give the technician the exact cause of the malfunction. If on the odd chance it is related to the ECU, it should still be under warranty.

The month prior, I was informed the tech noticed oil leakage (common for this model/mileage) and the engine should be resealed in time. My subframe also needs replaced due to rust. regarding airbags. There was a really bad tornado in el reno oklahoma.
    Several storm chasers got caught in the tornado and were unable to escape.
    One car took shelter underneath a small wooden bridge. Their car did not have side air bags. Everyone in that car died.
    Another car did not make it to shelter, and it got rolled something like 18 times. That car had side airbags, and everyone in that car lived.
    Airbags are critical for when you least expect it. It can mean the difference of a healthy future, or a future plagued with brain damage.

    2017. The only problem I had was an upper oil pan leak. Other than that no issues whatsoever

    The eye-sight issue in this car is a technological problem, not a mechanical one. You do not need this feature and whether it works or not, this is not an "issue."

    2013, headlights, rust and a new valve body in the transmission. $1400 to fix.

    Missed the only one that periodically 'drives' Me crazy. To wit, when turning engine off, key will not release. After watching many videos, the 'fix' is to squeeze shift knob repeatedly.

    I can attest to the headlights and oil consumption is better than bearing consumption

    You literally just made a video about how crappy the 2014 legacy is because most of the things that you said have problems or from that are only one of the problems were with the 2020 logically the 2018 era would be the best one
