I think you will find William does talk about his mother but it is when the occasion demands it. It would be weird if he didn’t but it is not a hatchet job but with love and affection. He needs to do this for the sake of his own children because if he doesn’t, his children will find Harry’s distorted views becoming the facts.

Shauna, as a gay man I never thought you were trans-phobic. But there is so much hate being directed at our community we are over sensitive. As a 57 year old gay man I understand why. My generation fought for equality; that’s all we wanted. This generation wants special treatment, rebuilding society around them and their needs. Why? Being lgbtq is not a handicap.

My husband and I found a dog on the side of the highway. She was in bad shape like she had escaped from a bad situation. Emaciated and had a deep gash on her side, exposing her mammary gland. We also suspect she had just had puppies (we couldn’t find them and it had gotten below freezing the nights before…) We took her to the vet and they fixed her up, we got her some weight on. She was a dachshund/doberman/lab mix, or a “Big Weenie Dog” if you will. She had such a great temperament, very well mannered. She passed away at the age of 13 in December 2022. She was the best dog. Her name was Honey.❤

In 2010 our next door neighbours moved out and left their 10 month old pup behind alone. So i took her in , hoping to find a good home for her. My late husband wasn't very enthusiastic. I couldn't find anyone I felt would give her the love she needed so we kept her. My husband passed away in 2017 and poor Mimi missed him. She looked for him until a year later i moved, with her and my 2 cats, to sheltered accomodation. She was my companion until last November when she had a stroke and I had to have her euthanized. One cat, who was devoted to her, sat near her body until it was taken away. We were married 60 1/2 years and Mimi was a great help and consolation. I'm 88 so i can't have another dog, it wouldn't be fair. But my old cat, he's around 20 does his best.

We named him Wookie, and I can not tell you how many times he had all of us laughing until we cried. There was just something extra special about him. He was so sweet, and he didn't bark at all. It was as though he didn't know how. We were blessed to have him for 15 years, and he was healthy and happy until the actual day he passed, April 13, 2023. He is sorely missed and greatly loved.

My rescue dog story. I’m sorry this is so long. And I’m not sure why I’m even telling this. Our first dog was 3 years old when I saw another one that kind of looked like our boy on a rescue site in another town and province. After some interesting back and forths, we got the little lady a month or so later. She was about 18 months (I think she might have been a bit younger) when we brought her home. She was emaciated and petrified. She hid under the bed, behind the couch and chair and only snuck out to eat and drink. She hoarded food for the rest of her life. That little girl became the love of my life and part of my soul. I don’t know how it happened, we already had her brother that we loved so very very much, but she became my best friend. I don’t know why she “picked” me and not her “dad” but she was my girl from the beginning. She watched me, she followed me, she pulled plants when I planted them, she barked a lot but when I ran out on the deck and said enough, she would smile at me, literally smile at me, and come waddle-running up the ramp we built for both dogs to see me with this literal smile on her face. We faced three separate slipped discs and a couple of bouts of pancreatitis with her. We had her for ten full years. She died from very sudden liver failure one evening. We rushed her to the vet that evening on the long weekend and I kept looking into her eyes and saying, “You tell God that your mama says you are the best little girl ever” over and over until her eyes closed. She was part of my soul somehow. She didn’t have a good start in life but she was beloved by daddy and mommy and her older brother. Her brother looked for her for about a year. I still grieve for her and now very recently, we have a new grief for her brother who just passed at 14 1/2 years. Talk about an empty home. Talk about my empty life. They were with me all day every day of their lives and rescued me from a very deep depression. I am better but they are gone. Weird I am telling you this, but you asked about dog stories and somehow I wanted to explain about a little kinda ugly misshaped little girl who saved me after I saved her. I held her brother when the time came recently and told him to run and look for her because she would be waiting to play with him. They were my hearts.

@@annmariewraight871 I believe you are the lady I misunderstood before. Thank you for understanding my story. Even re-reading it brings me pain and more tears. And I lived it 😞. I think I need to explain things that probably have lessened my understanding and humour quotients a bit right now. My little girl passed suddenly and we were both devastated as they were “our” kids, so to speak. My husband got cancer (how does a person get cancer, do you suppose?). Dealt with the treatments and he retired in there somewhere. It becomes a blur. Thirteen days after the last treatment, June 13th, he had a heart attack here at home. Because of the heart attack, he now cannot have the double knee replacement that he needs so badly, so he is in constant pain but cannot have the particular medication that works the best for it … because of the heart attack. Then my beautiful little boy died one day not long ago and again we were shattered. In the midst of all this, a long planned two floor renovation began with us living here throughout. Neither of us are that funny these days 🤷‍♀️. But let me apologize again for jumping to conclusions. I don’t think I usually do, but I’m afraid “usually” isn’t working right now. Unfortunately, I also understand trauma in childhood. I would hug you for yours, and offer you a safe place if I could. I really would. I did unsubscribe here as I felt bad about my misjudgement. I will reconsider. Thank you for your listening and understanding. Like I said before, it’s weird I even said anything anywhere. ❤️

How strange life works! Sometimes brutal and sometimes miraculous. I'm deeply moved by your love of your babies and concern for your husband. I wish I could give you a long and loving bear hug. Then go to some quiet place in nature and sit with you. You have moved me more than anybody or anything for quite a while, lovely person 💙
Strange considering we began our acquaintance here with a misunderstanding ... but I really wish I could hug you now...
About your husband - I will ask my son if he can give any medical advice. I don't know where you are based but in some places it is very difficult to get direct health care/advice without going through an exhausting process.
Too many brutal things have been piled on you both in too short a space of time. You must feel you are trapped under a suffocating avalanche. I pray that snow melts quickly and the sun shines through to warm you both XX
I really believe that ' a problem shared is a problem halved' -
maybe not practically but certainly psychologically and emotionally.
THANK YOU for being vulnerable and sharing your grief. I believe most of us have experienced deep sadness and I think you have touched others who have read your story.
I think you wrote your story because you needed to. I hope you have a dear person you can confide in who can give you those hugs that you both so deserve X

Out dogs are all rescues. We live next to a church where people dump their dogs. We have 6 fenced in acres for dogs to run and play. Everytime we get a 7th dog, one of ours dies. 2 of our dogs came on december 8th of different years...and each one year old at the time they were dumped. I suppose they were last years christmas present that just didnt work out and they dumped them😢. We spay and neuter all our rescues and they are the best dogs. They are very well connected to each other and their people family. My oldest rescue is almost blind, almost deaf and almost 22 years old. All the dogs dote on her. My 18 year old dog is diabetic and takes insulin twice daily. When i go to work, i put the television on for them and they are angels all day. No therapy needed in this house. We are all loved unconditionally.❤

I first saw one of my dogs, a beautiful border collie, around 10 months old when he knocked over my dustbin and was rifling through it. I shoed him away. New to this small Welsh village I asked a few neighbours who he belonged to, one of them told me he was a stray, that someone had driven to the village and dumped him, he was a pest and he was going to shoot him.
Already having a dog and being eight months pregnant I decided to catch him and take him to a recue centre. Within a day I realised that was never going to happen, Jake as we named him was a joy for the whole family for the next 12 years.

Comment to the loss of a loved one. I lost my husband of almost 44 years in 2020. He was my life and my best friend. It was very sudden and unexpected. I can't imagine finding another to fill his shoes. I have awesome family and friends to fill my time. And I am also comfortable with my own company. Reading and crocheting and travel fill my time. I miss him everyday, but sharing stories and memories with family and friends eases the emptiness that sometimes creeps in. Love your show and the sharing of stories, because it makes the community feel more like family.

I think this is another source of Harry's anger. He hates himself for forgetting her, no longer remembering what she looked or sounded like, unless reminded by photos or films. No wonder Meghan ensnared him so easily - she wore his mother's favorite perfume.
Harry is also angry that his mother left him, and he is angry that he refused to speak to her on the phone the night she died. He may even be angry that William was her confidant (never mind the tremendous, unfair burden that put on young William). Harry was the playmate; William was the companion.
Harry is such a mess. He really needs psychiatric help. Unfortunately, like everything else in his life, Harry hasn't stuck with it. He said in Spare that he had his counsellor on speed dial. No mention of regular, in-depth sessions.

@maryireland4253 Exactly as I've come to believe! He's angry at her for leaving and angry at himself for being angry at her and angry at William for coping better and angry at his father for moving on and angry at Camilla for obvious reasons and angry at Catherine for taking Diana's place/bearing her legacy in some ways and I think even beginning to be angry at Meghan for not being able to bear Diana's legacy the way he expected. He's a very angry and confused man who has unfortunately never dealt with any of it in a healthy way.
I also think his memories of his mother are distorted into some sort of inhuman perfection as a coping mechanism and it's not serving him well anymore. I do feel bad for him about half the time. He really, really needs help and Meghan ain't it.

Hello, Shauna! An elderly male colleague once told me (when I was in my 50’s) that the ONLY thing men want from a relationship after 50, is a “…nurse or a purse.” I was surprised and thought his assessment [and warning!] was very cynical and misleading.
A couple of decades later, I have witnessed many relationships that reflect his declaration: Unhappy couples staying together because of FINANCES with NO other “relationship” between them, and/or unhappily taking care of their partner’s health and/or physical impairment needs and RESENTING them because of that.
The few decades-long partnership’s that have remained IN LOVE with, and/or respectful, of, one another, are extremely rare, in my experience. They do exist, however, and I am grateful to see them remaining supportive and helpful to the other, until their deaths, do, part them.
“A NURSE or a PURSE.” Maybe there was a bit of truth in that statement, sadly, but I’ve also seen “true LOVE” triumph over that dismal outcome for couples, thank goodness.

Jimmy saw this young but large golden retriever/great pyrenes dog in a small cage and fell in love, or pity, I'm not sure which. We took him for a walk and bonded with him immediately. Loved his floppy ears and curiosity. So we loaded him up in the car and headed home to meet his brother Howie (great pyrenes). It took a couple of days, but they got along great. All that was left was to name him. Yes, you guessed it, he stole Jimmy's T-bone steak that night. I love that dog. He never failed to bring a smile on our faces.

She became the most friendly dog but remained fearful of the garden hose. In her later years she developed a cancer and died. I cried buckets.
Previous to that we had a beautiful corgi, who was a wonderful family dog. He died way too early, when a scrub tick got him. We took him to the vet but he had a heart attack from the tick poison. Many tears for him too.

Agree. It seems we have not yet found a way, socially or legally, of reconciling mutually exclusive perspectives; instead, we pick the one that in some way carries more weight, and force the other to submit to it. In UK some years ago a Christian couple who ran a B&B politely refused a gay male couple a room with a double bed, as it was not compatible with the Christian couple's religious beliefs. They offered the gay couple a double room with twin beds instead, but were indignantly rejected, and subsequently were taken to court for discrimination. They lost the case, and lost their business as a result. Effectively, their religious beliefs were considered less important than a gay couple's rights to impose their lifestyle choice on other people in their own home. I have always suspected that at least part of the reason for the verdict was because being Christian is not remotely cool or trendy nowadays, whilst being gay very much is - no disrespect to either party intended - and went with the populist view. My point is, surely the court should have recognised that it was a case of an irresistible force meeting an unmoveable mountain, and declined to get involved. The gay couple were disrespecting the Christians just as much as they claimed the Christians were disrespecting them. Sometimes there cannot be a winner, and people simply have to agree to differ, and move on. Whilst trans women must be allowed to live their lives in safety and with respect, they are not and cannot ever be true women. True women have the equal, and opposing, right to not be forced into intimate contact with someone of another biological sex, regardless of what gender they have chosen to adopt.

Being a widow, during the pandemic, I became quite depressed not being able to see family members without practicing extreme caution. I had dearly loved three cats that had passed away over a period of several years. One day, my son showed up at my door with a 5 yr. old dog he had adopted. I told him how happy I was for him, only to be told the dog was for me. Etta James, a standard French Bulldog, has been a most wonderful companion and she has lifted me out of my depression and brought so much joy into my life. She’s always by my side. lovely segment on the dogs. My story is that my daughter and I are a foster family for a local Pet Rescue group in New York. We are not in a position to have a dog of our own, so we decided to foster and be a bridge for a foster dog on their journey to a forever family. We have been with this particular rescue group for 6.5 years and have foster 77 foster dogs. Our newest one will arrive this coming Saturday. Not everyone can have a dog, for various reasons, but fostering is a rewarding journey for us. Our family rescued a little lionhead rabbit, he is jet black, so small can be held in the crook of one arm and is called Teddy. He lives in our home and is free to roam about as he is toilet trained etc and only eats his own toys and not the house furniture. While I watch your channel, Teddy will sit on my lap in the living room and fall asleep as I pet him. He is so loved and rescuing him was the best decision ever. He just brings that extra little peace of joy into our home.

My husband and I were in our 40 when we met. We’re now in our 60s! Our best date was when we went ice-skating in Central Park in New York. We were a little out of our depth, but were having a good time…..until I fell and broke my arm. The kind people at the rink took one look and said we should go to the hospital. When we got there the waiting room was full of people coughing. When it was my turn they asked why I was there and when I told them what happened, all the nurses and doctors started laughing. I thought it was funny too and I was happy to make their day! (The arm was set, splinted and healed completely. And the ice-skates were sold). It remains one of my favorite stories!

I lost my husband in April of 2023, so its still a bit early to replace him (joking). I'm not sure, I am still only in my 50's so I'm not so old and I do miss the little things, like someone to put out the rubbish, carry the shopping, deal with pet accidents etc. On the other hand I like having full control of what I watch, what I eat, when I eat etc. I think if Mr Right were to come around, he would have to be perfect and not get in the way. Trouble is, I don't think I'm particularly perfect, so I think I will probably remain single!

I have had so many dogs it’s hard to pick out 1 story. I wanted a dog since I can remember and was told not until I was working myself. My first day at work I passed a pet shop on the way home and the shop owner told me that 1 pup had broken a leg when children had dropped it I couldn’t leave knowing they were in danger and had to take a lovely collie girl home. I was not popular with the parents for a week but they came round and she was a terrific family dog. I visited a local car boot sale once and at that time had 2 dogs who I had from pups. At the sale was a cross breed dog with its little head sticking out the car window over a sign that said dog free. You guessed it I became the owner of 3 dogs that day. My friend breeds border collies and I always have 1 or 2 of her dogs in the mix. I have loved every dog that shared my life no matter what their back story.
I only go visit Ballater/Crathie in the summer but next year plan on getting a decent filter for the camera and would be happy to share the photos.

I used to look after one for a friend and they are so smart, affectionate and good company. But hubby says it would probably outlive us and what then? Which makes me go off the idea. Also, I’m not very mobile, so wouldn’t be able to walk it too far, just round the block on a good day.
Anyway, we joke to each other that if hubby goes first I’m getting a poodle, his retort to that is, if I go first he’s getting a Thai bride, to which I tell him, I’ll come back and haunt him if he does!

Around here (Sussex Coast) there are many rescue dogs brought to the UK from Greece, Bulgaria, Roumania, Spain etc. 16 miles away there is a rescue centre for all manner of animals but I am a longterm fosterer for the Cinnamon Trust a charity for the elderly and their pets. Their main office is in Cornwall but they help animals throughout the UK. My 2nd foster was for a beautiful papillon bitch who lived in Edinburgh and was driven down here to me but she had a brain tumour so only lived 10 months with me. As a longterm fosterer I look after the dogs for the remainder of their lives. Most of the dogs are elderly themselves and so far the longest time one has lived with me was almost 3 years. My present dog Daisy hopefully will spend another 4 years with me. She has been here for almost 2 1/2 years and is a delight. I opened my garden on Saturday for a party in aid of the church where I worship, Daisy had the time of her life going around all the visitors for a tummy rub. People were very generous and donated £202 in 2 hours!

We recently (6 weeks ago) picked up Roger (a kelpie/boxer) from a rescue shelter in Bendigo to be an addition to the family and brother to our 2yr old Jack Russell (Denis). It is always a shock to the system to get a new dog even if they're a 'good boy'. he is about 9 months old and he has a lovely nature, very playful and full of energy and learning the ropes so quickly. It's the trainer who has to learn how to lead and I've had a crash course! Also, there's been a bit of adjustment for Denis who has been used to the bed, the people, the toys etc all being his alone and he is having to learn to share!!! But 6 weeks in, thankfully, and with me being more aware of triggers, things have settled down and my heart just melts when they play well together. This must be what it is like when a mother brings home their second child from the hospital and number 1 child has to learn to be a sibling and share their parent's attention.

My brothers wife died , along with his 2 sons ( aged 31, just turned 6 , and 18 months) years ago ( 1978)… he later remarried, had twin boys and then another son, with a woman that was a bit younger and , quiet frankly, she was nutters…. Years and years and years after they divorced… in his sixties, he got sick, had a little bit of esophageal cancer-which was treatable.. but his old girlfriend from highschool went and visited him in the hospital…. They were each others first true love, sparks reunited, and they got back together, had a fabulous time , he was so happy …. He was 13 yrs older than me, and I was a young kid when he was in highschool… so, to get to have the family car ( this was in the 60’s) , he’d take me along on many of their dates , I always remembered her and loved her as well, we all did …. He went on to university and life went on, another brother.. 3 years younger than he was, dropped out of university and joined the US marines.. prompting my older brother to change over from ROTC while in college ( sort of an officers training program while in college/university) and enlisted in the US army because his little brother wasn’t going to Vietnam while he was still in school… became a helicopter pilot, and went to Vietnam about 2 months after the younger brother got back from Vietnam…. So his relationship with her, Lynnie…. Didn’t survive, and he met and married his wife who then died nine years after he got back and was out of the service.
They acted line high school kids again… went all over the place, as they were both retired then, got to Italy , the UK, golfed in Scotland…. They both worked on their bucket lists, and were delightful to be around … it was A GOOD thing!!
Sadly he died two years ago, very quickly and unexpectedly, at 73…. Lynn is still considered our sister .. and always will be .. there is always hope !!!

We left the hole there because he got so much fun out of it and kept himself amused for hours.
