I never moved from the TV the day the Queen died, waiting for news. Later I remember the farmers lined the hedgerows with their tractors and horse owners did the same, lining the roads to pay respects as the Queen's coffin passed. It was such an unbelievable few days of outpouring of love for a wonderful, dignified monarch. How I felt for Charles having to address the various assemblies of the United Kingdom, all the legal duties, etc, while having no chance to grieve for his mother.

      A little girl in pigtails
      Waving a Union Jack
Went to see the Queen pass by
But was elbowed to the back
      Thirty-five years later
She stood by her car and cried
On a roadside up in Scotland
As the Queen was passing by 🌹

As an American who went to University in London and later a curatorial internship in one of the largest British museums, Queen Elizabeth II took on a major role for humanity and culture. She was the Glue that held Societies together. Her knowledge and education led her to be the Motherly Comfort through wars, attacks, and everyday life, all to make a better life for everyone not only in Britian, the Commonwealth but all the World. I miss the Glue and I miss the sense of her Motherly Comfort she brought to all knowing you can trust she would do the right thing. And, when she did her Christmas message, the whole world watched... The Queen asked us to plant trees for her Jubilee. I think she should have a forest planted and named after her as a living memorial. There will be statues but none of them will capture what she was really like. When people go to that forest in the future they will smile and that will be like her smile. And they will feel that presence of hers in the majesty of nature. Nothing made by people will be good enough to replace that. I vote for a forest.

I've said this before Matt but I really do have to commend you for putting out superb quality content. This is hands down THE BEST show about the royals on TH-cam. I have been so pleased that despite the state of journalism today, Matt Wilkinson remains a credit to his profession. As an American who spends 3 weeks each summer traveling the U.K. (an avid fan of British history), I chuckled at Matt's passing reference about being lucky to get "the WiFi" in Scotland. Yeah, I know all too well that coverage in the U.K. is spotty even in the best of times. But I was especially fascinated this week to hear directly from the horse's mouth from Her Majesty's own loyal protection officer firsthand accounts of these famous anecdotes. Matt, pls know your show is helping to establish primary facts in history with these guests. I have also concluded when you report on stories, I can trust your reporting. It is my highest praise I can deliver to a journalist. I very much look forward each week to this show and I hope Matt you will continue to preserve the accuracy of the royal family. I remember on twitter I had asked you why you didn't accompany the Princess Royal or the Edinburghs when they did visits abroad yet you accompanied Harry to Germany, and you actually answered my query that you would like to but are never invited. I was impressed with your conscientiousness. I personally detest Harry and wish the king would remove his titles and him from the line of succession but understand its complexity. Harry is a genuine danger to the British monarchy and I welcome his decline/irrelevance in the fullness of time. May William & Catherine know how dear and beloved they are to Americans whilst Harry is nothing more to us than a sideshow freak. Keep up the good work Matt, and my compliments!
