Duvet/quilt covers really ought to come with a zip which runs around 3 sides. Open it up flat on the bed, place duvet on top, zip up, job done. Has no-one patented this yet?!

Its more fun to climb inside it, then stand up. Get your quilt in a disorganized heap at your feet, find two corners, put one in each hand, then assume the star jump posture. Grab the quilt cover at the corners whilst still holding the corners of the quilt then exit the quilt and shake out.

    1) Grab a corner of the quilt and shove it into the furthest corner of the cover, then hold them together with a Foldback Clip so it doesn’t move. 2) Do the same to the other furthest corner. 3) Stuff the whole quilt into the cover, making sure it hasn’t twisted. 4) Line up the 2 closest corners, making sure you hold the quilt inside when you hold the corners. 5) Do an up then down fanning motion to spread out the quilt. 6) Remove both Foldback Clips, and it’s finished.

    1) cover should be inside out and the duvet should lay as perfectly as possible on top
    2) roll toward the opening (don't start from the opening
    3) when you get to the end, do not be afraid to fold and button/zip in the ends like she does in the video
    4) have faith in yourself and the duvet
    5) unroll and/or shake it out. It does work

I am finding it harder and am grateful for being shown less strenuous methods. If you have no problem then fine but don’t get all sneery about things that may help others. If you can do a four minute mile great but don’t sneer at those who do it in 10!

The way I was taught was put the cover over the bed and feed the duvet in , corner by corner that’s the secret , then give it a shake.
When I was at sea we just had sheets, counterpanes, blankets . We had a bed making system , which made it easier to get out of the bed in an emergency!

A long time ago, I visited a family in Austria on a school exchange. Their duvet covers were a two-part affair, with a large diamond, circle or square section of the top separate from the underside. The cover was laid out on the bed, the duvet placed on top, the corners then tucked in, and the other part of the cover poppered in place. They are easy, neat and decorative (the insert can be a different pattern or colour). I've been looking for them in the UK (and elsewhere) ever since; I can't understand why no-one is selling them. Mind you, I've not seen them anywhere else I've stayed. Maybe they were home made. Or maybe they are an Austrian secret!

Hi Lorraine, thanks for sharing. I gave it a go, but have to agree with other comments thats its quicker to do it by putting quilt corners into the cover and giving it a shake. I also found rolling both the quilt and quilt cover together by myself was difficult. It took around ten minutes.

My wife now gets me to dive inside the cover with the quilt to match the corners together before shaking it into place. But before this, my wife (a tiny lady) used to do it this way, and while she was lying inside the cover (and on the bed), lost and fighting to get out - I quickly buttoned her up inside it!! I had a great time pissing myself laughing while hearing her muffled screams as she kicked about!! 🤣👍

Yes, this is a wonderful method for a paid by the hour housekeeper.
All those cuts, it's probably took 5-10 mins in reality.
I know some people are very weak / injured / disabled, but the easiest way it to turn the cover inside out, put your hands inside the corners, grap the corners of the quilt and shake it aggressively, takes 20 seconds.
