I’ve got an even easier way. Put the duvet and the cover in the drier. Turn on the drier. When it’s finished the duvet will be inside the cover.
Well it seems to work with sheets!

If you have a staircase, you can put the cover over the stair rails , then drop the duvet inside the cover.
Using gravity to help you really makes it a whole lot easier.
    Hope that makes sense.

That’s what I do, using the inside out method, rather than trying to shake the heavy duvet which is fine if you are a tall man, rather than a short old woman 😂

    • @MrDaiseymay
      @MrDaiseymay 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Me too, but remember to let go, if you'r losing grip. It's better if the cover opens the full width , not many do. Roll it up ,place inside the laid out cover , near the top, take to the Landing bannister rail, hang over and let go of the rolled duvet, but still gripping the bottom edge AND It will fall and unroll down inside the cover. I read that someone had introduced a Velcro fitting top cover, but i haven't seen one advertised anywhere.

Just saw this today. Even though “the roll” looks awkward, in my experience, it’s a peaceful, stress-free way of doing it. You can tie the corners of the insert, then roll. It’s such a relaxing way to accomplish a dreaded task.

    1. Iron the cover so that it's nice and smooth.
    2. Lay the cover down on the bed with the open end at the end of the bed and smooth it down so there's no crumples.
    3. Put the duvet on the floor at the end of the bed, folded a bit so that it's small enough to fit inside the cover's opening.
    4. Hold the opening open with one hand and start shoving the duvet inside with the other..
    5. Smooth down the cover some more.
    6. Climb inside the duvet and spread it out trying to get the duvet up into the top corners of the cover.
    7. Climb out and smooth down the cover some more.
    8. Repeat 4 - 6 until exhausted.
    9. Smooth down the cover some more.
    10. Repeat until you realise that you left the cover inside out.

It’s more fun to climb inside the duvet cover along with the duvet then fall off the side of the bed when you lose your balance whilst at the same time ripping the duvet cover when your knee gets stuck on top of the cover. That’s the way I do it. Works every time.

Brilliant! Yesterday, I replaced my single duvet cover and I did it the normal way by shoving the duvet up the cover, holding the two corners with duvet and then aligning the rest of it. The two methods shown here are so much easier and next time I will use one of these methods. Thank you!

Thank you for demonstrating both the inside-out and roll methods. Even though I’ve used the roll method successfully a few times, I conceptually have difficulty understanding how it actually works especially at the part where you begin to unroll. Most videos do not explain that step well at all. Even though yours is a bit better at that, I still have trouble grasping that part. So it is always a struggle, plus it is slow for a single person. I will use the inside-out from now on.

I sew a loop on all 4 corrners of the duvet 1st,then when I get a new, duvet cover i sew a strip of tape or ribbon, about 5 inch long to each of the corresponding corners to tie the ribbon to. I find this method simple. As my husband, and grandchildren, when they stay over don't lose themselves in the bedding! As I'm the only person who deals with the bedding it makes for a quiet life ?for me anyway.

Inside out as you get older isn't as good but you can get various quilt and duvet holders. Put the cover the right way round take the corner of the quilt and put it into the cover to the corner and fix whatever type you have to keep the two together then do the same to each corner. They stay together then fine :-)

Okay, I'm sweating after fighting with this. The roll method didn't work for me. My down comforter is pretty thick and by the time I rolled it up, there was no way I could turn the cover inside out. My duvet closes with buttons and the last button is about 10 inches from the end on each side. I finally gave up and did the old fashioned clumsy way. However, this inside out grab the corners and shake method looks like a real winner to me. Thanks!

Most swedishs duvet covers have two opening on top on each side fore easy access the duvet and pulling it to the top. Putting the duvet into the cover is all done in less then a minute.

One thing you fail to mention re method 1, the "inside out". This only really works if you have a duvet cover that opens along the entire length of the bottom of the duvet cover. A lot don't - mine doesnt. Has press up to about 6 inches from the edge each side, meaning the six inches don't effectively "open" - making the "roll down" method very difficult.

we call it burrito roll, and you made it look so difficult with a struggle here and there lol. and i must be honest. if the bottom isnt all the way open it is a bit of a struggle when you want to roll it out. but imo the burrito roll is the easiest way to do it.

What I have noticed is that the duvet cover shown does not have any fastening which makes it easier for either of the methods. All my duvet covers have fastening and although it is possible to do the roll method it's a bit more difficult.

The fastening obviously needs to be undone, but some covers only have an opening in the middle rather than along the whole width which makes it much more difficult.

I always use the inside out method and have done for some time. If you wash the duvet cover inside out you are ready to go next time

Inside out one is the best …but you should try it when elderly with disabilities!
