    Solid tips and good video!
    Note that other animals besides hogs can also be profitable:
    Hogs are often the cheapest but give only 1 meat & 1 hide when slaughtered.
    Sheep give 2 meat & 1 hide.
    Cows are more expensive but give 6 meat & 2 hides, so they are often profitable too.

      I wonder how many meat give mules? As they are even cheaper.

    • @umardoerr5523
      @umardoerr5523 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they give 3 or 4 per mule? I usually slaughter mules by the hundreds. Buy a couple hundred for 17-20 and dump the meat.

      It's weird how sheep have double the meat of hogs. In real life it's the other way around.

    I've managed to get contracts that were 600+ when signing up to a kingdom that only has a few fiefs, 1-2 clans and been at war with 2 factions, and gaining over 10,000+ a day by constantly winning defensive siege battles. When looking for someone to sign up with find a clan that is at more with more than one factions as they pay more, and present you with more target.
    When taking a escort caravan missing yourself be wary of who the faction is at war with, you may find yourself in a situation where a fast merc party attacks the caravan and you're unable to help because you're not at war with the attack. At higher clan tiers each stage of the escort mission works like a caravan ambush quest with a large mounted bandit party spawning to attack the caravan.

      Those big stones are so so so nice ever since i started using the big stone and the cat ammo at the start of battle i have yet to lose on defence 2500 man army coming easy throw some big rocks at the tower and ram and they just sit outside the walls for target practice if you are on a new start also real nice you see an army march to siege some place race in front and join the target as a merc and wait for the battle you can max out throwing athletic and bow for your current cap in that one fight just get some practice throwing those by hand a bit and you will see what i am talking about that Op 300-400 splash damage and they can go pretty far if you aim it high

    For smithing, what I do is focus on two-handed pole arms. Once you get to the point where you can use something like the scythe head that costs to steal, I use that one. Refine all your materials up to steel. Steel. Use that head, the highest level handle that only uses wood, the highest level fabric flag which has no requirements, and craft away. It basically uses two steel, one wood, one charcoal for each craft. Craft so it levels you up quickly. In the beginning you waste a lot of materials but you can recover some of that with smelting. Or just sell it. By the time you can make balanced and mastercraft, they're going for 10 to 20K a piece. Then I just travel around the map, collecting wood, processing and building, and selling at every town I stop at. I can finance my entire Kingdom but it's definitely a rough start because of needing materials in the beginning. From there I just did missions and sold bandit stuff to get by. Eventually, selling two weapons will fund all the wood you need

    Seonon to marunath best trade route in game since it take all of 20 secs to run mule sumpter wood . Also don't forget with smith click the pic in the bottom left you can change who smiths you your brothers sister all 3 wife and companions you can set up all the mats and then bam pop out like 60 10k swords in 1 smith session . just using crude and basic iron .
    and as a merc you can join a really big battle move your troops to the back and let everyone else fight till the end then clean up then after the battle leave the kingdom and quickly join the other side and take out your old buddies if you let everyone go on both sides both times you end up with tons of charm xp tons of prisoners and all the loot and everyone loves you for it lol.

    Tournaments and Tavern-game (Empire most easiest as Defender) slaughtering the hog (or sometimes sheep) if the value of the animal is less then actually u would get from meat and hide.

  • @vindex7309
    @vindex7309 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Update: 8 (trading): the prices are now very inflated at the beginning of the game. I’m assuming the empire fractured and the economy is in shambles to start with. However, you can buy a flock of sheep and hogs at poros, butcher them to sell their hide and meat to make back a cool 3,200 or so. Prices begin to settle fast so this window isn’t open for long.
    6 (questing): it’s ill advised to purchase troops early on in your run. You start the game with 1 unit (you) mounted. Tier 1 troops you buy will quickly be slaughtered on the battlefield so you’ll be spending gold for recruitment and upkeep and ranking up just to lose it all in rng fights. If you can’t 1v20 looters, it’s more profitable to keep solo and participate in tournaments as you learn combat and run from fights on the overworld. Besides, it’s more lucrative to gather companions first before recruiting soldiers so you can immediately start sending them out on expeditions. Faster renown gain and less expensive on your early gold.
    5 (workshops): 100% worth the investment. Find a city with resources flowing into it if a particular type (grain = beer, grapes = wine, etc.) the more input it has the more likely it will be profitable. This is not a rule, more like a guideline. I had an unprofitable brewery with 2 grain inflow and I’ve had profitable presses with 1 grape inflow. However, it’s also important to check if there are other manufacturers of the good in the city before switching. They will eat into each other’s market share. Price and profitability may be linked to city prosperity.
    Caravans: an easy, passive way to generate income is to put your companions as caravan masters. It’s 15,000 to get one started and I’ve had a caravan give as much as 450 per day as opposed to workshops giving usually 100 to 250 fluctuating. So, cheaper - perhaps more risky as caravans can be attacked, but very profitable and greatly increases your base income.
    Best way to make money are to participate in tournaments with 6-16 lords I’ve revived prizes that sold for upward of 16,000. Similarly, winning tourneys is the best way to gear up early for free. If you’re new, stick with the empire arenas (the blue/purple cities) as they have the easiest rotation. The only thing that’ll hurt you early is a low endurance skill as your team runs out ahead and gets 1v2’d early leaving you alone. The best way to counter is to try to stand in front of your teammate so he gets trapped behind you. Always rush to try to get a numbers advantage (don’t mess with ranged unless you’re in a four-way free for all) and staying mounted is a good way to survive eliminations. Otherwise, it’s a little rng with the 4v4 rounds.

    Quick question about setting up companions as traders early game, in a few of my games I've always sought high scout skills to help them stay away from bandits, my question is with the cultural buff the Aserai get with trading or Battanian get with forest, has anyone seen this help out with their speed or income? Or does your culture override theirs?

    • @Flesson19
      @Flesson19  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have a video in which the devs confim this, the caravan leaders culture determines it, so if you have an aserai they can trade bttter, if they are battanian then they can move faster through forests. Your culture doesn't matter

    I tried this last night;
    Never got above 70 trade because of the grind, until I started trading horses.
    Go to Askar in the Aserai, its surrounded by 3-4 horse villages so you can buy sumpters and mules for as cheap as 25, desert horses for as cheap as 150, and Aserai horse for under 800. Bring them west to Vlandia and especially Battania, the sumpters and mules can be sold for as much as 400, the desert horse for as much as 850, and the Aserai horse for up to 3000.
    Selling horses I got to level 175 trade in 4 hours. Its insane. And focusing on trade gets you the renown per workshop/ caravan trait, so you can focus purely on making profit and still get renown xp.
    Aserai horses seem to sell the best since profit means trade experience, but you can trade any horses anywhere as long as there's a demand for them and make a killing

    I'd have to say this was a really good early game guide. Only thing I would disagree with is workshops but that would also depend on your culture of choice. Playing the Khuzaits, once you get around 50 horse archers, you can run around picking off infantry based mercenary companies for a good chunk of change and if you've joined a kingdom, you can go after weaker lords. Once you get around 150 khans guards, you'll be able to make millions off war.

    Good video, but learned much of this and other tips watching your playthroughs. However, this time I tried something new. Instead of going to merc, took time to run around doing prison breaks to boost reputation and charm for myself, and while doing that I sent out companion parties and caravans. Yeah the caravans suck, but they are gaining scouting and other skills and exp while things are cheap and no one will fight them. So when i join up as merc, I can call them to my army to build my leadership and theirs so when I gain more cities, they'll make good govs.
    Granted I can do this because I fully leveled smithy and trade first and supplementing costs using workshop and trade.

      @@Flesson19 yeah I skipped merc and went straight to vassal. Can still build up influence as I gain places, and once I literally own all of valandia, when I leave they will either join me or die, pretty simple. Because of the poor AI, they will literally sell my their last fief.
      I spent so much time running around doing prison breaks that I'm practically 100 with all of valandia, battania, and western empire give or take a few associated minor clans. So recruiting clans are no problem.
      The only "cheat" I'm using is the one to keep getting my wife pregnant. I would still spend gametime with her, but it gets so difficult to have kids after 3, when realistically she should and can have more. Then after 5 or 6 kids from valandian wife she is mysteriously murdered (ok so 2 cheats) and now I have a battanian wife spitting out battanian heirs. My goal is to only have family and companions in my kingdom. Not sure how long it'll take, but hey what's the rush.
      I do have one question, do you know if lords eventually leave the kingdom like they did in warband, or do they form their own merc warbands and stick around?

      @Flesson19  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Though, do you keep your leveled skills once you play as one of your kids? Or have to do all over again? My first playthrough and I haven't bothred dieing yet. A shield, 2 packs of bolts and a light crossbow, traveling around with 4 companions also with bow or crossbow to max their athletics to their current max (not plan to up this, just for exp cap, I plan to have only riders in my companion list).... oh btw... how to train companions.... riding skill.... if they got none? It's taking so long to get them on those random tournament horses.
      I did reset my game though until I had a the swift and a spicevendor in the wanderer list. I'll be independent and caravaning...
      And how do your workshops make 300 a day? I never seen anything higher than 198 on a single workshop.
      Atm I got my char to 175 smithing and planed for the endurance point from 200 athletics and the 2 focus points in weapons in smithing, trying to get lvls.
      I basicly pre planned my build with the number of points I can have at the end, going a smithy, trading leader. Of course with a good stewardship. I thought of more a realistic approach, a leader that csn repair his soldiers weapons or equip them better to at least minimize their chance of dieing if he has to make his people fight for him that way.
      I know about the problem of your own troops paying you with more than 100% wage reduction (which I might reach for my cavalry, as I said I try to build companions on horses for a reason hehe) and use the leadership 300+, scouting 175 and others for party size. Thanks to the riding I think I'll still be pretty capable in battle, though playing on realistic damage settings I probably will keep my distance of any enemy pointy end of steel or the army might start to run around like headless chicken.

    Quick question, when leveling your companions throu smithing, you have any weapons that are preffered abd gives the most exp or is it only 2 handed sword with the highest difficulty that gives the greatest amount of exp? For example I was thinking about 2 handed mace is dirt cheap to make :)

    Regarding tournaments, in my current game I’ve probably been in close to 50 tournaments and I’ve only seen this prize offered twice now, but there’s a 32,000 denar nasalhelm that occasionally comes up. At this point, I’m only making 150 denars by risking 600 and the prize is really what makes the tournaments worth it.

    Selling your excess gear is so cheesy and non immersive. Also can I mention that you can’t just farm seonon until it’s dry straight off with full profit, inflation and deflation means you are going to have to buy hard wood sparingly and import from the towns you sold to a few days later.
    Want charm? Court suitors and use money from smithing (which is one of the highest profit methods in the game) to gift to nobles. Quests are also pointless unless it’s your settlement.
    Early game is a terrible time to buy a workshop, as they have low value and will have extremely unstable business. You have to constantly feed them with resources to make sure they function well. Like I said smithing is best. Don’t horse trade. Want to train companions for a party? Just throw them out in to the wild and they level up themselves. Actual payments as a mercenary are terrible. The real money is in the war itself. The slave trade and equipment marketing is your best source of income as a mercenary.
