@@Flesson19 I like to steal a city, and just hold up inside taking out all the invading armies, selling the captured lord's in a revolving door from keep to tavern to get rich, eventually make a kingdom, and then just recruit lord's after you capture em (easier with high charm, and if they like you) and just slowly expand out, filling my ranks and growing my borders with every lord I conquer and turn to my side. Literally had clans from every faction and just outnumbered any one faction.

Bonus Food tip, works really well: If you are about to declare War on someone, summon your army in advance and buy ALL the food that the first city you will target has in stock. Than declare war and siege before a caravan or villagers come. Before your trebuchets are up, the town will be out of food and losing defenders as long as it has properly sized garisson. And if it doesnt, then you dont need to thin them out anyway. ;-)

I stockpile food at key forward castles and take that out for armies. Either buy it cheap from source villages while I'm traveling causally or drop excess (usually grain, meat, fish) from previously defeated armies. Either way keeping a stock like that is very cost effective. And I try to have at least 5 types for that high morale bonus. It's not much but every little bit helps.

One thing to add about garrison troops/budget. Stock your garrison with militia Spearman and archers when you find them. They are vastly cheaper than regular units. If you can get 75 of them along with regular units , you can keep most armies away unless they completely outnumber you. The AI isn't that smart when it chooses which castle to siege. They can't tell the difference between 200 militia in the garrison vs 200 legionares.
Try to convert them from prisoners or save them when enemy lords raid villages.

Mounted Patrols (225 riding) + Keen Sight (225 scouting) = -100% escape chance for prisoners from your party.
One problem is that both are party leader perks, so you might need high END and CUN. The other is that once you carry 120+ nobles around, having a bunch of wounded soldiers could put you over the limit.

For me I’m in a awkward position that when I joined a kingdom (kirgits) the first thing that happened is that I was given a castle and a town, which I was extremely lucky to get since the town rebelled (Tysal) and the kingdom it belonged to retook it and only left about 60 crossbows in the garrison plus about another 50-100 from militia, which about 10 days later we went to war with. (So I guess the town was attacked and took over 3-4 times in less than a month before I got it)
Problem is that most of the town is almost completely broken except the two buildings that increase garrison size (both at level 3), and I have no loyalty gain because I have a different culture even with the +3 loyalty project (currently at 0.4 gain at 47). Also I’m trying to improve the security by mass buying recruits from nearby towns and villages since it’s a problem at 13 and I don’t want to lose the town either.
Basically everything is going wrong with the town since I can’t really construct anything or use different projects without the loyalty plummeting back down in a week or two, and everything takes 66 or more days (with money) to build and my castle is having similar issues because of different culture loyalty

    • @Flesson19
      @Flesson19  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

getting a good governor can help solve the town issue which my video today shows how to build him. If a sandbox or having more issues, never stay in town, the AI seem to know how strong the town is so I stay outside and they send a smaller army while I wait outside of town. Wait for them to attack, them I defeat the army. So you kind of need to babysit the town while It gets troops and projects done. But never just sit in town.

I wish you could call for support. My first playthrough I decided not to be so ambitious and sided with a kingdom. I got in a war and my allies took over a town and garrison and gave both to me. IMMEDIATELY within 2 game days, the town is besieged that we JUST got, and one of my allies is within ARMS REACH! And I tried to wait it out hoping he'd naturally come help, but he never did and in fact went the opposite way. I was hoping for some kind of "Call to" or "Rally" or "Reinforcements" command, but I couldn't find it. I am but a lowly rank in the kingdom, so that could be why, but wouldn't it be in their best interests to maintain the territory they just captured rather than immediately abandoning it and leaving their allies for dead? Seems totally fair too, because if your allies are too far away, they can't reach you in time to reinforce you, so it would only help if you're immediately near an ally as I was.

The money problems, among other things, is why blacksmithing is so overpowered; it's the difference between struggling the whole campaign and not having to worry about anything at all. the tribute is split between all clans in a kingdom, I think the leader pays just a bit more. I never pay tribute. I start with 1 fief built up so no one takes it and expand slowly one at a time and defend that fief till its built up. Also tribute is based on strength so right after a battle you win, you take them prisoner and you can get the most out of them. I show this is my current playthroughs

@@RyanWaite101 both my campaigns are nearly the same start. I also do a walkthrough from day 1, its a little mini series to show you till I become a merc or vassal. My last one was for 1.8. it is still 100% viable except horse trading. It's just a 5 episode series I think it is. It is faster but the regular death camping will show you in detail so it just depends on how much time you have. If you prefer the walkthrough just scroll down my main page there is a section just for walkthroughs look for the 1.8

You have to play with the algorithm of tribute. I like to raid the enemy villages, it starves out the linked fiefs. A mixture of catch and release until relations are at 50 for all clans gives a small boost to all diplomacy. If you take town's and castles it will make tribute go up for a while, until time has passed and the defenders is high. If you are a small kingdom then the scales are tipped in the bigger kingdoms favour. Picking a fief that is in a corner and easily defended is a good place to start

Even in 1.7 I can't hold a castle. I always go minus and loose money, imposible to pay soldier sallery. I am not talking about making huge profit. Just cover the cost but no you need to suck out every penny. It's a waste, this game shuld be like total war, you start with a smal settlement and then grow it up over time and make it bigger

We have mentioned to TW to give bigger taxes because unless you fight constantly your gonna go in debt, that is what most of us do, or rely on crafting orders or selling smithed weapons, it's sad

Simply be indipendent, attack a rebelling city or castle (those with the red fist over the name), conquer it by first taking out the rebel clan, than sieging it with "mass instead of class" (the bigger your party, the faster siege engine is built) and - by starving it and shooting it with catapults - you win without offending anybody.
      After this become a merc.

@@Flesson19 Reaaly omg haha i really fall in love with this game, so its a long road ahead of me in that case lol. then i will keep following your channel lol xD and watch all the video's you,ve posted so far. you do a great job at explaining how things work. i play this game now for maybe around 50 hours and iam already progressing but, the settlement management and the contant attacks from massive armies is overwhelming. iknow you can make allies with other factions or clan and that je can also build different armies with you own clan but that is also with a big learning curve. hopefully i will be de greatest Empire in the game on day with total peach haha.

There is no spot where it shows it unless it's hidden on another line, but when a fief starves the garrison will die out both in a siege and just normal starvation, however the militia don't die out so if they try to starve your town, your militia are fine
