Great job honoring a man who contributed so much. I'm glad you got to visit his grave and I was so touched that you placed a flag. He truly was a patriot and we need more like him.
In 1973, I saw John Wayne cry. He was following John Ford’s casket out the door of Blessed Sacrament Church in Hollywood. When I saw him crying, I lost it. I was 16.
My dad is the one who introduced me to John Wayne and I’m eternally grateful to him for that. I positively love John Wayne, and the True Grit movies are my favorite of his.

I did not know about the bum shoulder and hearing issue. I'm glad I learned that today. they're still many people out there that though he was cowardly for not joining military and this goes a long way to clearing up that misconception.
There are two contenders for the best scene in a John Wayne movie: in North to Alaska, when his toupee falls off during a fistfight, and in The Green Berets, when the sun sets in the east.
I’ve only seen True Grit and The Man Who Shot LV. Loved them both. His TG beats the remake by a bit. I’ve seen his son Ethan on Pawn Stars as an expert. I was 10 when he died.
When The Duke was in Hollywood he was under contract to different studios. That system is no longer in use. So he tried to get out of his contract to serve. The studio said no. If he had gone anyway the studio would have sued him. So he really couldn't go.
Let's see, he was 35 years old, had 4 children and had a bum shoulder. He was turned down from the Navy in the early 30s because of his shoulder. He was also asked to help support the services in recruiting and visiting the troops.

The Duke was a true American and the best actor ever. What a true American man should strive to be. My hero. 😊
A nice tribute for a true American. Thanks.

Us too…one of our favorites!
It is one of my favorites also. I also liked True Grit where he won his only Oscar.

So cool, right behind you, my grandfather is buried about 4 head stones away from him. He passed in "65,"
Wow!
It's always nice to know I lived at the same time as JW. Even if it was for just under two months.

Great video I have many favorites but as a Vietnam veteran I like his Green Beret the best.
