From one Vet to another,Thank you. My father could have been buried at Arlington but chose the national cemetery at Ft. Indiantown Gap in Pennsylvania as it was closer to family also he shipped out from the gap and mustered out there too.
I had the privilege of meeting Maureen in Boise Idaho a few years before she passed. I’m a huge John Wayne fan so I was obviously Star struck. I told her that my parents named me after Big Jake and the smile she got…. Wow!
I am a retired Texas Peace Officer after 30 years of service. I was a team leader on the Honor Guard for 15 years. I had the honor of training with the 3rd U.S. Army Infantry Charley Co. Old Guard stationed at FT. Myer, VA. assigned to Arlington National Cemetery. This was one of the highlights of my career. I was amazed to be in the presents not only of the thousands of American Patriots who lay in these hallowed grounds but to train with the fine young men and women who serve our nation today.
Thank you so much for watching and for your service. I am always honored when people comment here…especially those like yourself. Arlington is quite an amazing place. 😊
Jenn, your channel should be required to be viewed by all colleges (especially military academy(s))and private and public school history courses as well as all HS and college ROTC programs...IT'S THAT GOOD!!!
Absolutely. Jimmy Stewart was not mentioned. He was a 5 star General in the U.S A.F. and won many medals and Oscars as an actor. God rest the souls of all who served.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks for the heartfelt tribute to our fallen hero’s. I served in the Army during the Vietnam era. Stationed in Germany. I have a brother and 2 uncles that went to Vietnam. Thank you for your service.
From one veteran to another, thank you for your service and the honor and passion you show to all these great people ; we both share the same attitude ; thanks again.
I would so love to see Arlington cemetery! So much respect. My husband is a veteran and will be buried at the Bloomfield veterans cemetery in Bloomfield Missouri when the time comes. His name is on the plaque at the front of the museum and cemetery as part of the desert storm 21st Airborne troop. I’m so proud of him and am a proud military wife! So proud of all our veterans!! I love you all!!
A couple of weeks before I PCSed to Huachuca from my tour in Germany, I barrowed a car from a buddy, and drove over and walked through the Luxembourg American Cemetery. It's hard to describe the feelings I had while there. I guess you could say, I felt extremely honored to be in the presence of these troops who gave their lives, for our freedom. I wish I had known then, that I was only just over 120km from the Battle of the Bulge site. If I had known, I would have gone there too.
Thank you ! You are the best I thank you for your service to this great nation, and the work that you have done. There those who tried to deny Black Americans the right to serve and after they have served we would come home and was not treated well. You know the history. This brought tears to my eyes because you paid honor to those who were considered less than. Thank you so much and may the peace of the creator be with you always. U.S.ARMY 1966-1970.
Thank you so much for the kind words. 😊 You may also enjoy a video we made honoring the Tuskegee Airmen buried at Arlington. Absolutely amazing men. Thank you for your service! 🇺🇸
From the daughter of two Navy sailors, both my mom and dad, thank you for your service. They met when they were both stationed at Pearl Harbor during Korea. Dad was on a ship and mom was the one who did the dog tags and the toe tags. Both joined right after high school, mom from Iowa, dad from the Texas panhandle. Mom passed away in 2015 and has her military stone in a cemetery in Amarillo. My dad is still living, he's going to be 90 this year.
Thank you for their service. I love that both your parents were sailors ♥️ what an amazing time to be in the US Navy. I appreciate you sharing and all the support. Go Navy!!!
Thank you for covering Maureen and Charles Blair. I had the pleasure of working at her home for some weeks in Ireland back in ‘78. She was every bit as relaxed and engaging to chat to and bid the time of day. We also were lucky to meet Charles Blair at the same time; tragically to loose his life some weeks later. A truly wonderful lady on and off screen
You got me as a fan because of you military experience...My son was in the same events as you were....Many awards...I couldn't be prouder....God bless you.
My father was a Colonel in the US Army. I was born abroad because of his service. Thank you for your service then and now. I enjoy these videos so much.
I have watched a lot of your videos. So tasteful and respectful. America thanks people like you for being there when needed and who come home and foster respect for those who did not. Vaya con Dios
Thank you for your service and for a great video. Being a woman aviator is special. My husband flew B52s and thenT38s as an instructor and was a member of SAC. I am really proud of him and I am really impressed by your service. Thank you.
I loved Maureen O'Hara. The Quiet Man is one of my favorite movies. She originally was going to be buried in Ireland then changed her mind. John Basilone is buried at Arlington. A true American hero and from my home town. We have a parade and we have a bridge named after him. He was the real deal.
My birthplace was the home of the bravest sailor in history. Pathetically, the high school still ignores him with an eponymous name. Ironically, only twenty miles away, another high school is not named for the bravest seaman, from the same battle.
I'm not military, but I agree with you. However, I place war graves with it. Gettysburg, Pearl Harbor, and all over the world. During times of war, our fallen were buried where they were killed. Ships sunk with people onboard. People buried at sea.
To me every National Cemetery is the most sacred ground, because every man or woman that served is on/in sacred ground. Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, SC was created at the very same time as Arlington National Cemetery.
If Arlington Cemetery is sacred the Tomb of the Unknown is the most sacred. Most visitors know to be respectful and quiet. I have heard the guard threaten a visitor who went inside the velvet rope. The guard told her he is authorized to use his rifle to protect the sacred ground. It was a military holiday and a large crowd. Even babies were silenced. That was decades ago. He speaks to the people trying to sneak in the back way or go around a fence. The Sentinel, like the King’s Guards are highly trained. They are not for show. They are on duty.
Well Done Sailor. I was last there forty years ago but you captured how beautiful it is, and what a reverent and important place it is to this nation. You are an excellent history teacher. Semper Fi
That was an AWESOME video! Thank you for sharing. I have only been to Arlington once, in which I met the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, Sergeant Major Barrett. It was an honor! God bless all those we have sacrificed so much for our liberty, lest we forget!
Jenn, thank you again for a wonderful video. I saw the 2nd Arlington video and I've found and thoroughly enjoyed the first one. As a Vietnam Veteran, I hold Arlington in the deepest reverence and respect for those who have gone before me. Thank you again for your service!! Go Navy!!
This one was special to me, especially as a retired Air Force Officer. It is even more special, we lad my Father In Law to rest at Arlington in 2019. Services at Arlington are incredible, they do a great job. Thank you for. Introducing these under reported history events.
As a proud combat veteran of the 1s Inf Div Vietnam, you echoed every emotion I have about having served. Plus ... you gave me chills with that salute. I know what it means! SSG G A Murdoch
I also served in the Navy...retired at 20. Thank you for sharing your journey to Arlington...I hope to visit one day. Your video was informative, sensitive, and respectful!!! Your respect that was given through your salute, your pennies, and you heart stones was touching...Thank you for your service and thank you for reminding us all of the great history we have as Americans. May God bless you always
Yours is a wonderful compliment James. We should all aspire to be recognised in such a manner. I visited Arington from Australia way back in 1991 and was truly mesmerised, much like I was a few years back when I visited the Australian soldiers remembered at several sites on the Western Front in France.
I remember offering the Boy Scout salute at the Tomb of the Unknowns back in the '60s. I never served, but many family members have and I've come to honor all who have. Thank you for your service and your reminder of whom we have to thank for our freedom.
Lee Marvin has an added connection to Arlington. Arlington National Cemetery sits on the former estate of Robert E Lee, and wife Mary Anna, who was a descendant of George Washington. Lee Marvin is related to both George Washington and Robert E Lee. His first name is a tribute to his ancestor Robert E Lee
I enjoyed your video very much i hope there will be more I was so honored that you yourself was in service ..i thank you for that..🇺🇸 God bless you and the United States of America
Fantastic video you certainly wear your emotions on your sleeve and that’s what makes it so special I’m visiting Arlington in September from England hopefully I will be able to visit a selection of these memorials thank you again
Hi there. You did a wonderful job. As a former Marine I wish to one day visit Arlington. There was one part of your video that did not sit well and it was something you said. I do not know your personal history, such as, if you were in the military. When you were at Lt. Murphy's grave you referred to earned awards as "winning and winner". We never win awards for valor. The poor bastard on the losing end of a battle, he can't hit the reset button and have a do over. I do think that you did a great job and thank you for the background on Robert Todd Lincoln. Your video popped up in the recommended and I'm glad it did. I'm going to check out the others. Your very good.
Thank you for watching and you are completely right. I did inadvertently say winner vice recipient. I corrected myself in the video description. Thank you for your service and for the kind words. 🙏
@Mr. Shlock Pedantic? Yet, you still read it. Lol. I believe that I referred to myself as a former Marine. Doesn’t “ex” mean pretty much the same in this context. You sir, get a job. You are too bored with your life to nip-pick no-sense.
@Mr. Shlock you need to learn to type proper English. I suppose being in the 3rd. Bn. 9 th. Mar. 1st. Marine Division was just a dream. Your bored with nothing else to do. My friend, that is sad. Good luck to ya.
Just found your channel. My dad, mom and brother are interred at Arlington. My son is also active duty military. I live nearby Arlington and visit often. But I think now in addition to my family’s graves I will visit some of these you mentioned. Thanks for a great video.
Thank you for watching. We also have a other videos from Arlington, including another movie stars, media influencers video. It is such a hallowed place.
When first I started watching your video, I could not wait to comment about how much you remind me of actress Amy Adams. After watching the entire video, what I want to say is that this could so easily be your vocation. It is done so professionally and with so much respect and knowledge. I feel better for having watched it. Thank you so very much.
Thank you so much. Your comment made my day. I have a Masters Degree in American History and I wanted to do something that I could use my degree as well as bring information to the public. I really appreciated your feedback. I plan to do another from Arlington soon about the writers there!!!
This is awesome. Great job! The history lesson was spot on. Thanks for taking the time to do this. I now look forward got visiting Arlington again to do more exploring. By the way, I have a dear friend who is an Arlington Lady. She supports families who are attending funerals of loved ones there as well attend the funerals herself.
Great video. I just subbed hoping you will do more at Arlington. While I enlisted twice, I wasn't able to serve due too medical reasons. Much respect to you, all serving and served, and to those who are gone...but not forgotten.
As a Viet Nam Vet coming home was hard but never as hard as those you walked among there. I salute and honor you as you did the same for them. So few now see Holy Ground or understand why it is...thank you.
It was my honor to be there and thank you for your service. I visit the Vietnam Memorial in the DC Mall video. I leave a flag for my friends dad who is MIA.
What a interesting and great video. Thank you so much for the interesting facts, most of all thank you and all those who served in one-way or another for your courage and service.
Thank you for doing this. Our military history is something that can't be allowed to die. Thanks for repeating it, especially for those that don't know anything about it. (Air Force 1967-1971)
Nice video and thank you for your service from a UK military veteran.. can’t wait to get over to Arlington it’s been on my bucket list for sometime 👊🇬🇧🇺🇸👊
Thank you for making this video. I have been to Arlington several times, but had no idea that some of the people you mentioned in your video were buried or honored there. Thank you also for your Service.
Robert Todd Lincoln; odd series of circumstances unknown to me until now. Overall this is a very inspiring video and makes me proud to be an American. Thanks for posting.🇺🇸👍
The opening grammatical fumble drove me away. Did it mention Lincoln participated in acquiring a cash settlement, for the confiscation of the Custis-Lee property, after the war?
@@johncollins7062 I understood her to say that the Lee family was eventually paid $150,000 for the property. The deed was given to Todd Lincoln. If I misunderstood, someone please let me know.
@@janetashley1276- Because I was already familiar with this, and his encounter with, another Edwin, Booth; the introduction took just nine seconds to end it, for me. (The soap opera melodrama didn't help either) My pettiest peeve, in life, is people, who consider themselves wordsmiths, misusing prepositions. As I pointed out below, She was walking "through" history, not "with" history. Only a very few people, mostly family, would consider that to be true. Ironically, if memory serves, the actuality of her walk was modified, when this episode (and with the assumed tension in her prepared speech, I do mean episode) was demonitzed. Even though Edwin Stanton was dead by that time, seeing how maddened America is at this time. finding in favor of the plaitiffs; but, presenting the actual deed to Lincoln would be an intentional, reconstruction, snub. Which, is exactly what either side would do today, How could any voter, from either side, lower themselves to be in such close proximiy with a traitor? Is my comparison appropriate in responding to your request?
Time stamp 16:20 that shot all the head stones form a vail or drooping curtain seen in some of the American red white and blue baners at Presidential functions.
Thank you, you did an amazing job with telling some brief history of those buried in Arlington. It looks very peaceful and somber walking the grounds and I have always wanted to visit. Happy I was able to view your walk and hope you return there for more stories. You do a very good job at telling history !
Just loved this video. We were in Arlington in 2019, but got there late in the day which prevented us from seeing all the graves we wanted to. You covered may of the ones we missed. Thank you for your service and this wonderful video.❤
Great video! I learned a lot. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. I also appreciate your willingness to make corrections- none of us are perfect.
Thank you. I appreciate your comment. I try to offer the best research at the time of filming but sometimes I have memorized the wrong thing, etc. I take full responsibility for all errors and will make any corrections as they come to our attention. :)
My husband and I visited the Arlington Cemetery and I felt that it was one of the most peaceful places in the U.S. Audie Murphy was definitely a very humble man with a simple gravestone.
Just found your channel. Your video is amazing. I've known a few of the actors that are buried there. Thanks for allowing us to see and remember those that served.
@@WalkwithHistory my uncle's from my understanding, came ashore at Utah beach, but I have never been able to confirm this. Now that the virus stuff is under control, I want to visit and pay my respects to our honored service members.
God bless you and from this United States Marine I want to thank you for this tour and thank you for your service Ma’am! Fair winds and following Seas!
@@WalkwithHistory absolutely! I’d love to see you host more historical tours; maybe civil war battle fields or even battle ships or other historical places! Semper Fi
Throwing you a Salute, young lady. Thank you for these. As I recall, Lee Marvin, Joe Lewis...and Pappy Boyington were all buried very close to each other.
Before flying the F-14 Kara Hultgren's original call sign was "Hulk" as both a play on her name "hulk"gren and the fact that she was quite the athlete. She flew A-6 Intruders before they were retired which is when she transitioned to the Tomcat. With all the media coverage of her being the first woman to fly the F-14, she was profiled on several TV interviews. Knowing that she was going to be on TV she did her makeup for the photo shoots. All the other male pilots gave her a lot of teasing about walking out of the ready room with makeup and her new call sign "Revlon" was coined.
That is some awesome information. Thank you for sharing. I went through a couple of call signs too. “Yoko” stuck when I broke up the band of guys in my helicopter squadron so I know that a “call sign” can go through transitions, especially if you do something “funny” that your fellow pilots won’t let you forget. :)
Just subscribed. Very much enjoyed this. Actress Maureen O'HARA starred in one of my favorite Christmas classic movie "Miracle Of 34th Street". Also enjoyed learning about Abraham Lincoln Son Todd in this.
Back in the early 80's, while I was visiting Arlington, the JFK memorial was being renovated. They were running a new gas line for the eternal flame. I took a picture of the sign that stated it was an eternal flame, while in the background was a hole with the old gas pipe excavated but not yet removed...and no flame. Great video.
Aa a Veteran I appreciate the respect you show in your tours of the cemetery, and I thank you for your service. I do disagree in one statement made. Perhaps it is nit picking but I refused to look at a service man or woman's life as a life lost, as I also refuse to refer to limbs, organs etc as lost. They were and continue to be lives, limbs, blood and bone, Given in service to this country. The Bible says " Greater Love hath no man than that he lay down his life for his friends ". I believe that to also include laying down his life for his country. Arlington is a place I've visited on many occasions. I will never lose my esteem and severance for it.
@WalkwithHistory just always been the way I look at things. You don't lose things that are given. If you get a leg blown off from a mine or an iced, I'm pretty sure you know where that leg went. Parents and children can say they lost a Son or Daughter, mother or father, or they can say My Son or my Daughter, my Dad or my Mom, gave they lives. But an Airman, Sailor, Soldier, Marine, took that oath and therefore Gave their service. I suppose you could get technical and say those in Vietnam who were forced to serve due to the draft didn't "Give" their lives willingly, but to say that diminishes their sacrifice, and I'm not willing to do that! I cemeteries around this nation, and the world, there are Men and women of all equations who gave their lives. Volunteers, Drafted, Contentious objectors, civilians who served in the capacity of entertainment or news gathering. All deserve our respect. Thanks yall, for your service and for exposing some of these people's stories. Much Respect!

Thank you so much for posting this. As I watched, I vowed to myself that I will get there this summer to pay my respects.
That is so awesome. It is such an honorable place to visit. Thank you for watching.
We’ve visited Arlington National Cemetery twice. Awesome and humbling at the same time! I salute all that are buried there.
Absolutely. America’s hallowed ground.
Thank you for your comment. It means a lot to me and thank you to your friend that is important work.
Great video. I just subbed hoping you will do more at Arlington. While I enlisted twice, I wasn't able to serve due too medical reasons. Much respect to you, all serving and served, and to those who are gone...but not forgotten.
Thank you. I will definitely do another Arlington video.
Take an Honor Flight and walk among heroes I did.

So proud of you Jenn, both as a veteran and a Nittany Lion.
Wow, Thank you!! That means a lot. We Are….. 🤘👍🇺🇸♥️
Robert Todd Lincoln; odd series of circumstances unknown to me until now. Overall this is a very inspiring video and makes me proud to be an American. Thanks for posting.🇺🇸👍
Thank you for watching. I appreciate your comment.
(The soap opera melodrama didn't help either)
My pettiest peeve, in life, is people, who consider themselves wordsmiths, misusing prepositions.
I had never heard that. 😊 Thank you for sharing!
Thank you, you did an amazing job with telling some brief history of those buried in Arlington. It looks very peaceful and somber walking the grounds and I have always wanted to visit. Happy I was able to view your walk and hope you return there for more stories. You do a very good job at telling history !
I really appreciate your comment. Thank you. I will definitely return.
Just loved this video. We were in Arlington in 2019, but got there late in the day which prevented us from seeing all the graves we wanted to. You covered may of the ones we missed. Thank you for your service and this wonderful video.❤
Thank you and thank you for watching! 😊

Thank you for watching. We appreciate your support.
My husband and I visited the Arlington Cemetery and I felt that it was one of the most peaceful places in the U.S. Audie Murphy was definitely a very humble man with a simple gravestone.
It is so powerful to be there. I was so humbled to be at Murphy’s grave. He is an American hero. Thank you for the comment.
You are a great military person and I have only seen 3 of your episodes and thank you for your service maam

yeah, some people though forget about Lee Marvin LOL
I had idea Joe Louis, Maureen, Meager, or Lee were buried there. That was an interesting story about Lincoln's son. Poor guy.
Really nice video. Well done. Thank you for your service.

Visiting Arlington, is on my list to visit.
My 3 uncle's all served during WWII, and I am proud of the men and women who fought for us.
It is a very important place to visit. My grandfather drove a tank in WWII (the Greatest Generation).
@@WalkwithHistory my uncle's from my understanding, came ashore at Utah beach, but I have never been able to confirm this. Now that the virus stuff is under control, I want to visit and pay my respects to our honored service members.

Throwing you a Salute, young lady. Thank you for these. As I recall, Lee Marvin, Joe Lewis...and Pappy Boyington were all buried very close to each other.
Thank you! Yes Lee Marvin and Joe Lewis were very close together…we’ll have to lol up Pappy Boyington next time we visit. 😊
Section 7A (which I refer to as Celebrity Row). Lots of big names there, including Jimmy Doolittle.
Visited Arlington about five years ago. Great experience. Thanks for bringing back so many memories
Thank you for watching. We appreciate that.
May God always bless you and thank you for your video and your service.
Thank you. 😊
What a nice video. Thanks, friend!
Thank you for watching. 🫡
Outstanding video, thanks you for your service, I did 26 years. Don't for get Theodore Roosevelt my favorite. Thanks again.

Thank you for talking about Medgar Evers. ❤
Honored to talked about him. 😊
THANK YOU for this touching and sympathetic journey.

Just subscribed. Very much enjoyed this. Actress Maureen O'HARA starred in one of my favorite Christmas classic movie "Miracle Of 34th Street". Also enjoyed learning about Abraham Lincoln Son Todd in this.
Thank you so much for you comment. I appreciate it. :)
Wow. That is cool. Thank you.
Thank you for your service!
It was always my honor to serve my country. Thank you.
Thank you for your service. and Thanks for this video GOD BLESS
Thank you. God Bless.
Thank you so much. Well done!
You're very welcome and Thank you!
I love that take! Thank you for sharing that. A great way to remember our heroes. 😊
