- Hey guys and welcome to my channel! My name is Peter Sims and this is my brand new 2023 Honda Civic Type R! This is the very first video of the channel and I figured we would do a walk around of the new Type R. 10yr. Graphene Ceramic coat to protect the paint. That was the first thing I did on my 2.0 (same color as, yours).
Best time to get it done is now since it's still new with minimal swirl marks or light scratches from washes.

I paid $53K out the door for my Boost Blue FL5. Not ashamed to say. My previous car was totalled (a 2020 Civic Si Coupe), and I really needed a replacement car asap. So I went with an upgrade...
Seems to be the only thing people are interested in these days lol

@@peter_sims Again I don't see the big deal. People want to know, cause they want to know wether they should pay mark-up, wait, shop around...and generally guage where the market is at. I don't see the big deal telling it like it is, no one foced you to start a channel on the Type-R, but if u are, why hold back useful information?
@@peter_sims It's not unreasonable to ask. Information isn't a bad thing. People just want to know how much dealerships are marking up.
50k is a high asking price, and you can get a LOT of other things for 50k.
I called Van Nuys Penske dealer since the license plate frame shows Penske and they said their price is 15k markup plus 8k for accessories. We are talking 67k for a civic. They said they sold the first ones for even more than that. At few thousand over, I get it but for 67k+ is ridiculous. People got to stop paying that kind of money unless they got money to burn. This is why dealers are jacking up the prices and comparing the Market price when they get one. Because a dealer next door got 70k for their type r, they will mark it up to the ass.
@@mikej972 Unfortunately that's the nature of demand and supply. There's nothing you can do about that. It was the same way before the Democrat enduced lockdowns and supply shortages...with any limited production desirable cars, more people want them than there are cars, so people are willing to pay more to guarantee getting one.

I love my 2020 FK8 in Rallye Red. What I don’t like about this new one is the price, Red carpets (nightmare UK winter) and Alcantarra steering wheel will stain and mark with sweaty palms

been driving it as a daily transportation pick up kids drop off kids etc... pretty happy.. but fuel consumption wise isnt a cheap vehicle around 11.7-12.2 L
I finally got mine about 2 months ago and only paid 5k above MSRP got lucky and got a black one with weather tech floor mats for the front back and hatch so it's not as red in the inside
Congrats! Yeah I replaced the red floor mats with some blacks OEM ones for now. The OEM red ones were getting insanely dirty lol.
Do they have weathertech or some equivalent TPU black mats to break up the red yet?
Honda actually makes their own equivalent as they came with the car but I wasn't a huge fan of them tbh

Start following the channel AHC Garage you’ll see tons of content on old and new school Acura and Honda. The best thing these are actual employees of this Pembrook Acura/Honda dealership and these guys are modifying and customizing these cars👍. You won’t be disappointed.

How long did it take to save
If I were you I'd find a "friend" or "family member" in a State and County with no emissions testing to let you use their address to register your vehicle. This way you can bypass any Cali emissions standards. And probably save on insurance.
Fl5 is clean but for the price I don’t think it’s worth it, especially for it being the same platform as the fk8, which is a great stepping stone but the fk8 is superior in my opinion , but still love the fl5, non the less super clean whip congrats man 🙌🏻, also keep in eye out for prl motorsports. For the fk8 prl is the leading aftermarket brand for the modern type r’s
PRL is not the leading brand - its popular but not the best

@@wongchai807 Doubful - the FL5 is superior in everyway - my Fk8 has 640hp and will be buying an FL5 when the market cools off a bit - production will be better once they fill the 10,000 Japanese domestic orders first - we only got about 1000 FL5s for 2023 so markups are gonna stay high until we go back to 5000 units per year like the FK8
FL5 is stiffer, longer nose (bigger turbo room/better cooling) stiffer chassis - wider - more fender room to fit 315mm tires upfront without a wide body kit or coilovers/camber plates
Interior is huge improvement and more of a traditional R setup.
The real divide is the looks as the FK8 is a time attack look vs the FL5 being more German looking and boring.
The good news is they are developing alot of racing aero for the FL5 which will spice it up for anyone wanting to track their car. High end wind tunnel tested stuff not just rice boy add ons. Bring money

NICE CAR but not even "scratched brake discs" vs my small downtown city car an ABARTH 695 RIVALE cab. and its full BREMBO brake system with scratched discs and 4 pistons brakes... :-D Driving only 6 miles a day, this is just luxery for me as "gentlemen driver" ! ;-) PS : I had more powerfull cars going from FOCUS ST 250 HP to SEAT LEON CUPRA with 280 HP than changed 18 month later for the 300 HP version ! :-D Just enjoy your new car : drive clean & safe !

Not sure tbh every state is different but I think its mostly the mark ups that are slowing the sales of the FL5

I does, unfortunately I think if you took the entire wing off there would be exposed holes on the back of hatch. It would be a cool stealth look tho I agree!
I,m sure someone with a 3D printer can make a quick release plug ?...I saw a STI minus the wing on BAT where the idea came from

The lack of rear Brembos definitely is a cheap look and what happened to the drilled rotors that were on the Fk8? Honda def took some shortcuts here with the fl5.
Yup, 100% agree. But as whole, the car really is amazing and excellent to drive.
Bro, it's closer to $100k if you add more modifications. And at that price, I would get myself Porsche Caymen.

Just depends I guess. AWD or FWD, and I guess what your drivings habits are like? The CTR with the hatch is pretty useful and can actually hold a decent amount of stuff in the back. The RS3 being a sedan is less practical but still a great, fast car and I always thought the RS3 was a little small but I haven't seen the new 2023 yet so I could change my mind about it lol.
@@peter_sims you're right. CTR is practical and probably cheaper, more reliable as well. the RS3 is pretty small, would not want to take it on road trips. Plus the CTR has better fuel economy.

One thing I’ve noticed is that no one talks about the stock sound system in the car, is it decent?
Honestly yes. It's not a Harmon Kardon system but it sounds very good. Good bass and a lot of nice midrange for podcasts or for just playing music in the background. Great system.
i prefer the old gen exterior tbh. the new interior is excellent however
Everyone has their preference. I think both are appealing in different ways.

These people need to rethink about their money decisions more wisely, I used to work for Honda, i remembered there was a guy bought 2020 type R for around 51k, couple months later, the man try sell it back to the dealership because he’s feel wasn’t worth, the dude lost nearly 15k trying resell it, he’s actually sold back to the dealership. All these people with money or TH-camrs, if you willing pay 70k for type R, you will take a bigger lost reselling it. Don’t think you can resell back for 70k, use your head and don’t be stupid.
our local dealer give me a price is 66000. He told me the MSRP is 44000 but their price is 66000......
I was going to upgrade my SI coupe to the type R a month ago dealership in KY had 4 in stock. Marked up 21k over sticker🤣🤣🤣🤣. What kind of idiot would pay that?

It’s beautiful but for me it’s a little underwhelming for the exterior design.
Definitely a step down in design compared to the FK8 but I actually prefer it with a more subtle design.
