They took a classic, open world, rpg.. And made it modern, and epic! But made it a pvp battle royal game!?
When this dropped i was so excited.. Just too find out when my mom was almost home with it!? That there was no story.. That was my like 15th b day gift!? I didnt even have internet then.. They dropped the fucking ball! Simple.. Now we get some turned based shit!? Best SNES game! Then it bombed, over and over..
It was ahead of its time! To a fault.. When i finally got online? Everyone was cheating cause of crossplay!? So..

This is the exact feeling. When I was 12-14 I was extremely angry that every single videogames magazine was talking shit about this game with bad reviews being like "This tries to be two things at the same time. Don't. Stick with one and do it good", or stupid stuff like that.
But man, this game really was WAY AHEAD OF it's time. It could've been bigger and better than the current top shooters like this. ]
Really, a pioneer of this genre and an amazing one.

I literally spent over 3000 hrs playing this game. Gust glide or gust grenade was an awesome combo

2007 I was 14 years old and loved this game so much. I went to MLG Orlando to watch pro players play this and halo 3. I bought my first pair of Astro headsets at the event, felt like a pro

Shadowrun allowed fortnite to sprint. One of the first games I played online with my cousin. Was a classic and glad its got the recognition

This is still my most cherished multiplayer game of all time. I have played it off and on since 2007. I would kill for this game to be healthy and active again.

This game is amazing! If only their was a spirited remaster with this game and franchise! So much fun the healing yet the buy items and guns! Abilities in a shooter before OW! I mean it’s so ahead of it’s time to me it killed its self.
It didn’t just kill itself their was a lot of scummy practices going on at Microsoft at the time and it fairly apparent that they limited the game to prevent to much competition with halo 2/ halo 3 which came out shortly after. If they remastered it, fixed the short falls with the aiming to be similar to modern fps and balanced some of the abilities (I’m looking at you teleport.) this game would probably make game of the year in 2024. Combine the dedicated fam base and the lack of solid titles coming out right now and you have a hit. This would require Microsoft to admit they destroyed the game to push halo tho and we all know how Microsoft is.

I have been playing The Finals, and I am like why am thinking about Shadowrun. They are so similar. So many hours on the game
The Finals is fun but I go back to this cause I miss when multiplayer shooters weren't live service games with battlepasses. Once you bought the game that was it just go have fun

Or because Shadowrun is a tabletop RPG akin to Cyberpunk meets D&D with heist based gameplay instead of dungeons lol. I was livid that this was the modern Shadowrun game that finaly came out after so many years of wanting a new one, ever since I was a kid in the 90s.
@@chloewebb5526 Mitch Gitelman was actually apart of a recent AMA I did with FASA and he talks about how he tried changing the game’s name after the story campaign got cut by Microsoft
The clan games we used to have was amazing. I played for a clan called XGL and the clan tournaments were superb, great days 👍

Cool combo was the gust glide! This game really let you play with different physical properties

The matchmaking screen is very reminiscent of the old Halo 3 searching screen

We’re all still playing, mostly on pc now. The disc version has some quirks but the community’s download version has those worked out using Vulkan/DXVK

My favorite FPS ever. I have no idea why it didn’t get more popular.
I first saw this game while browsing an outlet sale, as the store was getting rid of this game from their invntory.
Price was 1 dollar for a physical copy.
As i noticed that it also included a 30 day code for xbox live gold i figured this was a no-brainer and placed a order for 30 copies
I kept the codes for myself, and the games was handed out for free at school.
Everyone was confused.
why did i have so many copies of this specific game? Where did i get it from, and why did i give them away for free??
I told them nothin and avoided the questions, just as a way to mess with people and to get some laughs.
None the less the boys went home happy that day, and i had years of cheap xbox live gold😂
man games from like 2006-2013 were so unique they were actually different
Here I am in 2024 and I stand by it…
- I tried to look up who owned the rights, see if maybe I could buy them…
- then pitch the idea to a games company - get them to revamp it but keep the concept the same… add skins and custom designs
- boom profitable concept with sooo much potential… The mechanics and set ups are different enough to rival those of Fortnite cod etc

its because this isn't shadowrun, its a random shooter that had some token elements from the table top setting. It was not what people were expecting and got dumped on, at least initially

so i LOVED this game back in the day. Super excited to play it again. Downloaded it, no one is playing anymore so its already dead again. Played bots anyways because i really wanted to play. As a troll, i dumped 5 shotgun shots into the face of a human, he was unloading his pistol into mine....i lose every time. Im pretty glad the company went under, rosy tinted sunglasses removed, it was a shitty game, just a really cool idea. The guns are HORRIBLY inaccurate, to a laughable amount.

Fasa was already in trouble financially and shadowrun was only one title. Battletech was probably one of their better known games and other companies have picked up the rights and revived it.

It's too bad the discord for it seems to be down so I'm not sure it's even still around at this point.
interesting fact: The crossplay was forced by Microsoft and ate 70% of the game budget so that why the game feel incomplete. The Crossplay tech was new and pretty expensive so that a reason too that make feel that MS shoot the knees of the devs team with that choose.
I remember the hype around this when it was in the works but Never played it (and after Shadowrun Returns came out I forgot all about it😅).
Now that I see the gameplay, it's like you can see the prototype for a lot of team shooters like Valorant and overwatch and the like. It definitely was too ahead of its time🫡.

Like your in-game audio doesn’t work?? Usually restarting the game or changing your system default audio works. It might be easier to find help in the Shadowrun discord he linked

I play a badass Shadowrun MUD (a text based online RPG using telnet, Mushclient, etc.) I have been infatuated with cyberpunk/shadowrun since I was like 10.... 26 years now... thanks to text based games lol.....
