  • In this video we will be installing the ‪@SPEMotorsport‬ Disaster Prevention Kit. Firstly, thank you to our good friend Steve for letting us use his truck for this video!
    Overall the kit is very straight forward, and easy to install. The hardest part of the install is removing/ installing the upper intake manifold. Everything went on the way it was supposed to, and with the instructions it was a piece of cake. We found a few tips and tricks that are mentioned in the video to help you all out with your install so be sure to look for those.
    All said and done, we think the kit should take about 1hr 30min to about 2hrs to install depending on your skill level and what the set up on your truck is like before you start the kit. Meaning, if you have the ccv re route already done or other modifications like a upper intake, you will be looking at a shorter install time.
    We would love to hear from you on how your install went, or if you have any questions we will be glad to try and help. Anything we can't help you with we suggest contacting SPE directly. So leave a comment or find us on Facebook and shoot us a message!

      @@ResultsWillVary the upper exhaust manifold was a bear because you couldn't remove the bolts. Buddy and I had to get the upper lose then remove the lower to get the upper out. I also don't have a high creep yet. To be fair you didn't show where you took all that out and put it back.

    I like that this kit has the filter before sending back to tank. Kind of my thought process on some of the other kits that just send the “junk” on potential failure back to the tank, etc. Seemed weird.

I'd like to go the catch can route instead of the CCV re-route. I'd like to know ahead of time if the DPK EXO filter keg fits with the Mishimoto catch can. Thanks.

    should have showed how you how long it took to line up that exo filter bolt and fitting. i think thats a dumb design. plus the line gets kinked when you turn it. even if you heat up the fitting, its still not a great fit. just me $.02 on the kit.

    Has anyone had a failure with one of these installed?

    • @matthewridgeway3027
      @matthewridgeway3027 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ResultsWillVary absolutely. I’m putting a complete engine in my truck after a head gasket failure got to the point of hydro locking the engine. I don’t wish an expensive repair on anyone. I’ve had three of the 6.7 trucks now personally and driven a ton of them for work. I used to worry about the cp4 but honestly I’ve had coolant leaks of various kinds wreak havoc and never experienced a fuel system failure other than a low pressure pump. The failures I’ve seen second hand were obvious def or gasoline contam.
      I guess that leads to my point, if the pump fails from contam, the contam still flows through the injectors. If it mechanically fails from mileage maybe it’ll save the injectors, but are they worth saving at that point LOL.
      It seems somewhat like a fix for a problem that doesn’t really exist, but if it saves someone’s truck I’m sure we will hear about it because it’ll be the best money ever spent at that point.
      Thanks for the reply and the content y’all put out. Everyone’s gone so underground it’s hard to keep up with mods anymore, at least for me anyway. Have a good one brother.

    • @matthewridgeway3027
      @matthewridgeway3027 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ResultsWillVary well said. The kit definitely isn’t a waste of money, the theory is sound I just haven’t heard of an unfortunate soul that had pump failure with one of these installed. I understand it’s to keep metal from circulating, the metal from the pump would show up from wear, I understand the dpk isn’t to prevent the wear it’s to prevent the damage the wear causes. I’m getting at the accelerated wear would be carried forward to the injectors regardless of dpk or not, the dpk should definitely mitigate that some but that’s what I’d like to see just because I’m curious, I like to see things in real life, and ultimately I’d want to see the kit save someone thousands.
      Personally I believe there’s something to not letting the egr test plate bypass the coolant and causes issues. There’s a ton of them installed without it and it works every day. It’s hard to get good data because it’s a rare scenario that an owner admits to the neglect leading up to the truck failing and ending up under the knife.
