    Great overview Wade. Definitely a must have, practical mod to every Powerstroke. In addition to the printer instructions, I also found S & S’s TH-cam install vid. It’s 1 & 1/2 hours, so even slow learners like me should be able to install the kit.

    Just installed the Gen 2 kit on a 2019 F550, & from doing the kit the instructions are taken directly out of the Ford IDP service manual for removing the 2 intakes. The hardest part of the whole kit was the 1 but under the high pressure fuel line for the fuel filter cup. Took 30 min to get it out.
    If you are doing this job go watch the S&S video because they explain in depth better where it all hooks up.
    I was confused, & the video helped a lot.

      Yep, charge me more for the truck up front, instead of continuing to use a system that’s prone to failure. Reminds me of the aluminum wheels w/ steel valve stem corrosion issue. Waiting to see the outcome of the class action lawsuit, hoping to get proper replacement wheels on my dually.

    I installed this kit on my truck. It was very noisy so I contacted S&S through email. They told me it was normal and to check my hoses that that could be causing some of the noise. After driving a few days for work I got a major fuel leak. I had the truck towed to a local diesel shop. Ended up being my driveshaft seal in my cp4 was leaking. I had the shop check over my work and they installed a new cp4 and it blew out the driveshaft seal on it as well. We then took the S&S kit off and put on another pump and now everything is fine. I contacted S&S again they asked what seal in the cP4 and if I have a aftermarket lift pump. I have an air dog lift pump. After responding I got no response from them. Did I miss something are you not supposed to install these with aftermarket lift pump. I’m out a lot of money after putting this kit on did I miss the warning not to use if you have an aftermarket lift pump?

    • @thoroughbreddiesel

      Aftermarket lift pump shouldn’t have effected this. S&S does a great job in responding to this so it may be wise to call them directly. If you need any assistance give us a call as well. 866 737 4966

    What do you guys think of me adding a Dorman glass in line filter before this filter so I can see through to look for pieces of metal? If the pump is ruined but the shavings are being filtered, I need to replace the pump as soon as possible. A glass in line filter would let me check for particles. Can anyone think of a problem with doing this? Right now I still have the last model Racor style filter and I like that the fuel is visible.

    • @thoroughbreddiesel
      @thoroughbreddiesel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We don’t suggest adding another restriction in the system, also return fuel temperatures need to be taken into consideration too. Change the filter regularly and cut the filter open looking for shavings.

    • @thoroughbreddiesel

      Correct. To monitor just cut the filter open. The plastic previous model was much more expensive to change and wasn’t as reliable. This is a little more hassle but a MUCH better setup.

      The pump doesn't get upgraded, the kit separates the fuel going to the injectors from the fuel lubing the pump. If you don't have a big filter on the driver's side firewall, you don't have the kit.

    • @TaurenJam

    • @thoroughbreddiesel

      The fuel additive, although a good idea to increase lubricity and cetane, doesn’t correct the design flaw of the CP4.

      It seems that the design flaw is in the design of the US diesel. No lubricity. I’m not hearing of many failures in Europe.
