I wish Cobb came out with a real intake ;( I have their stage 2 package and pro tuned but damn! ETS does really well with the VBs! Nice channel and good info. Love your vids on actual parts and tune comparison.
If only there was time and a budget for that. It would be pretty silly though as unless any of those other ones are 3in and have a velocity stack they're not going to be better than the ETS.
@william3228 I've tuned quite a few AEM. Zero chance once tuned it's better. Untuned it's all which tricks the ecu into thinking it's flowing less (but not too much less) airflow which isn't a fair comparison of actual power gains since you really MUST tune the car for any intake you install.
Just a request but I would love to hear and see the results of an INTERMEDIATE PIPE. I hear great things about this and how it will help make your car not only faster but sound so much better as opposed to a simple Catback.
I don’t like where the MAF is placed on the Perrin. The air is going to want to hug the long side radius as velocity increases and there isn’t much room for it to equalize after is straightens out before it hits the MAF. Still, it seems like you were able to get a decent result on the scaling.
@@WT4T agreed, they’re definitely more forgiving. Still, I would like to see as ideal possible when it comes to airflow stability over the sensor. But in the end #fulltimeclosedloop!
Have you done a comparison of Cobb intake vs ETS intake? I have the Cobb stage 2 setup and honestly just looking for a bit more sound, but also curious about differences in efficiency.
The oil on that Perrin intake! You cannot tell me that won't pull through with the turbo sucking at full blast! I'm going with either AEM or ETS. If I get the ETS, I'm going with a dry filter to replace their oiled. The Perrin gets really expensive if you want what the ETS gives you from the start. Add the heat shield, inlet to the Perrin makes it more expensive than the ETS and heat shield.
Just a random question not related to your video per say. What kind of dyno numbers could someone expect from a dyno tune with the following mods, ETS intake, ETS J pipe, ETS Catback Extreme Exhaust, ETS Front Mount Intercooler, and an E60 tune? Also a IAG AOS.
What about intake temps from the Perrin that isn’t really closed box compared to the ETS that’s more of a closed box? Do you see a big difference maybe to cause a lower hp over time?
@@WT4T last dumb question. Why do you think that ets has been the only company to make a bigger intake over the others? Seems like you do get top end from that but reliability is also key for most?
From a thermal standpoint bigger tmic is just going to give you more heatsoak to overcome and because it's on the top of the motor heatsoak is all it's going to do.. Due to the low mount turbo design of these cars fmic is just superior in EVERY way.
Man I wanted to ask I have new 2023 wrx, I got like 780kms on it and it only produce 12.2 pounds boost? Is there something wrong or that’s stock configuration
I would be interested in seeing the new AMS intake tested. Personally, I have a Process West Intake and it has been great so far (Protuned of course). I believe the Perrin and AEM use the same or about the same size MAF as the stock intake/airbox. PW uses a 72mm MAF and I am not sure what size the ETS is but it is bigger than stock for sure. I believe the stock MAF size will definitely be more of a restriction up top and even more so with Turbo upgrades and more/better flow.
Love all the details you included on this video
Happy to bring something slightly different to the normal TH-cam style of auto content

Thank you for watching! I really like ETS as well and their local. PERRIN is also local to us.
Nice test! I guess the larger diameter kind of helped the ETS up top as expected.
Larger diameter and a velocity stack.
Perrin includes convenient assembly lube, so +1 point for that
So much lube I thought I was at a rally event
Awesome video as always! Can you also do AEM VS MISHIMOTO VS AMS? Thanks!
If only there was time and a budget for that. It would be pretty silly though as unless any of those other ones are 3in and have a velocity stack they're not going to be better than the ETS.
According to subispeed AEM beat out ETS which beat Perrin.

Well, this car has the full turboback now and it sounds pretty good.. I'm not a huge fan of loud for the sake of loud but this isn't bad at all.
I'd love to see a comparison between the ETS and the Process west intakes if you could.
Would just need PW to send me one
@@WT4T I wish I could influence them to send one. but I can subscribe for now. :)

Thank you

Digital frequency MAF's are so much better than old 0-5v mafs however it still definitely had a little oddness that the ETS did not.

I have tuned on the Cobb but I have not done a back to back on this car. Cobb is good but the ETS is undefeated

Yeah, I'm really not a big fan of the oil.
Wonder what the rae motor sports intake numbers are.
From looking at it probably very close to the Perrin.
Nice
May I know whats the brand of the rear wing? Look nice!

Another great vid .. did you have sleeve in or out in the ets?
100% out
Out if you respect your car for a tune. Leave it in if you are too cheap to tune
My tuner said the car didn’t like it with sleeve out, once put back in it tuned up nice, thought it was unusual that’s why I asked
@@Lemon8id
@@timeout9851 sleeve in retains intake size.. sleeve out allows for more air. Curious who your tuner is
Correct, there’s no need to name the tuner@@Lemon8id

High 300's for hp. Really just whatever boost the turbo will make up top. Torque would be whatever you wanted honestly....
lets say you made over 400 whp on this car ,could you keep the torque manageable without going over 400 ft lbs?@@WT4T
How is the Cobb intake compared to the ETS?? I’m in Cali and I’m running an ETS intake and I rather be legal but I’m afraid to lose a lot of power
It draws through the factory maf housing and charcoal filter, so, it's better than stock, but not as good as the ETS.
@@WT4T oh ok, I took off the charcoal filter
I'm curious to see how an aem intake compares.
I'm really not. It's an oem size maf, it's not going to make more than either of these.
@WT4T so probably similar to the perrin since it's oem maf, but with a better sealed box like the ets
Perrin is slightly larger than oem but not much.
@WT4T Thanks for the replies. Also love the channel and the content!
Is the S1 on your website and OTS or a full etune? Thanks
The staged maps are all OTS.
What about intake temps from the Perrin that isn’t really closed box compared to the ETS that’s more of a closed box? Do you see a big difference maybe to cause a lower hp over time?
Definitely going to heatsoak worse. It wasn't an issue on the dyno but I have lots of airflow on the car.
@@WT4T last dumb question. Why do you think that ets has been the only company to make a bigger intake over the others? Seems like you do get top end from that but reliability is also key for most?
@CRMAG87 the issue is "tune required" vs just run it. Ets has a solution for that as well, with the removable intranasal internal sleeve.
Ets ftw
Would you be able to compare top mount inter coolers from ETS and Perrin?
Honestly, I'm about done with top mounts, so useless. Fmic will be soon.
why do you say they are useless? @@WT4T

Welcome to the stock tune 👍
Does your Perrin foam have what looks like a slash on the foam filter?
It troubles me that mine has... 😣
There's a glue line, other than that no slash
@@WT4T then I need to get back at them and ask why mine has it.
Great review btw! Still needs to get tuned after the Perrin install.
I have OTS maps available for Perrin intake now.
@@WT4T noob question, do I need the Cobb AP for any custom tunes like that one?
Really depends on the platform. I've found it works best on the vb. However, there are a couple of other options on the market.

If they send me one I'll stack it up against the ETS.
Sounds good! I will be installing the Perrin Turbo Inlet real soon (per your advice/previous video). Thanks for all your work/content!
The inlet is a GREAT part!
Probably, however you don’t want to stray too far away from the factory MAF size as you start to lose MAF resolution the larger the housing gets.
@JordieG8 actually on digital MAF that's not really an issue.
