I’ve always loved the “hidden” lyrics in The Wizard And I where Elphaba basically says what happens to her in the end without even realising it. When she says things like, “when people see me they will scream” , “I’d be so happy I could melt” and “a celebration throughout Oz that’s all to do with me”. If only she knew what that vision of the future truly meant for her 😢
I always love hidden meanings, and Stephen Schwartz certainly did a fantastic job at weaving in hidden references to the themes of the story, which you might not notice on a first listen.
If you listen to the song “Sentimental Man” you need to pay attention to what the wizard is singing as that’s a dead giveaway to the parentage of Elphaba’s biological father. 👂 👀
I've seen the movie now twice and I want to keep seeing it because it is brilliant in my opinion. But every new time I listen or watch, I catch even more hidden things or easter eggs or foreshadowing. It does such a great job at putting those little hints in there that you don't catch at first until you listen or watch multiple times. Like Elphaba's line in "The Wizard and I" about being so happy she'd melt or the "get stuffed" comment to Fiero when she first meets him.
Part of why I think that reference to the catfight exists in part 1 is because I expect that’ll be one of the scenes that gets the MOST revamped in part 2. It works on stage but it is so stagey in terms of cadence with call and response for audience laughter in what is actually a very serious plot beat. I suspect we’ll get a heavily modified version and so this homage to the cat fight choreography is left in here because it may not be there in part 2
I don’t know if you mentioned this already but during the train scene you can hear a little bit of Thank Goodness as Galinda changes her name. I caught that immediately the first time I watched it
I love the fact that Adam Garcia (Coyote Ugly) who played Fiyero in the UK stage production did the scarecrow moves first in his production, it was hilarious and not many people picked it up!
The Wizard & I is truly underrated & is a absolutely wonderful song full of foreshadowing. She predicted her fate & the "Celebration" she sings about is held during "No one mourns the wicked".
I was unaware of Kristen Chenoweth's arm movements in the original Wicked. I assumed Ariana's pose was from Evita, especially since I noticed other musical references throughout the movie. Although it's possible that Kristen was giving a nod to Evita in her performance.

No. Even in the 1939 MGM film, where he claimed to be from Kansas, his getaway balloon read "Ohama" (as in, the County Fair in Ohama, Nebraska; Thankfully, Nebraska is just above Kansas gepgrahically speaking).
Why is No One Mourns the Wicked so popular? It was the least melodic song in the musical, mostly just noise, but the people who have known the show for years go crazy for it.

The level of intricacy and complexity woven into the lyrics and music is unparalleled!
One line that had me perking up like a meerkat, was when Elphaba met Fiyero for the first time and told him "Get stuffed" 0v0
Right!😂 Like... Who wants to tell Elphie that Fiyero actually does technically 'get stuffed'... because of her😅
I totally missed that connection DUH!!!
If you listen to the song “Sentimental Man” you need to pay attention to what the wizard is singing as that’s a dead giveaway to the parentage of Elphaba’s biological father. 👂 👀
This movie is becoming wickedly popular indeed can’t wait to see it
I see what you did there you said wickedly We need

I picked out that lyric "Life is painless for the brainless" really fast! I was like "are they hinting at what I think theyre hinting at?"
7:23 love how the two extra students lean and look back with Elphaba
The clever detail of transitioning from "Who rang that bell?" into "Subscribe and ring the bell!"

I love that scene. I hope they keep it or if they change it do something that takes after it
I heard that Wicked (Sing Along version) will release this Christmas.

You forgot seen when Madame Morrible cower Elphaba under the umbrella when storm coming. Like she scared that someone might to melt.
Also for me that part on Wizard and I , where she says something about ''when they see me they will scream'.. yah... but not in the way she wanted
yes!!
And that she's so excited that she could just melt.
@@miashell yess!!

Happy tuesday afternoon, Emily, take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well.
You also see the rainbow in the field scene out over the Impassable Desert.
7:26 I love how those two people are kinda judging Elphaba and I love the movie's use of background characters.

I said to my best friend "I got DDTWID vibes on NMTW" and he said I was crazyyyy
The Wizard is from Nebraska??? Wow!!! This is the first time I've connected the dots!!!
10:46 SentMenPod clipped in a MsMojo video! Love them 💚💖
Thank you Mojo for warning about part 2 spoilers 😭
I love what you do
not me hearing "Omaha" as a rendition of the sacred six-syllable chant of Buddhism: *aum mani padme hum*
Wow❤❤
There’s also one from Ariana’s past on Victorious, when they say “I could care less”. It’s in Wicked and Victorious
hearing the cords for For Good almost broke me seeing the movie

I didn’t hear Any of those ‘music Easter eggs’ except Ding dong
Awesome Wicked movie!
awesome
I thought the Wizard was from Kansas, like Dorothy.
No. Even in the 1939 MGM film, where he claimed to be from Kansas, his getaway balloon read "Ohama" (as in, the County Fair in Ohama, Nebraska; Thankfully, Nebraska is just above Kansas gepgrahically speaking).
7:52 I don’t get it
3:16 I don’t know about you but it makes me think of Peyton manning
For me all the music references are too hard to spot tbh
no one mourns the wicked . popular and defying gravity
Why is No One Mourns the Wicked so popular? It was the least melodic song in the musical, mostly just noise, but the people who have known the show for years go crazy for it.
