My younger brother who passed away in his 20s was a HUGE Wicked fan. He used to sing Popular ALL THE TIME. A few years after he passed, my ex took me to see Wicked on Broadway and I cried during Popular experiencing what my brother loved so much and then I was carried away by Gravity (pun interned lol) and I was a puddle by the end (pun also intended lmao). Years later my oldest daughter saw it and this weekend the whole family watched the movie the theater and it gave me everything I needed from it and yes, they DEFINITELY landed Gravity and I jumped up and cheered!
I think the opening reference to "Ding Dong, the Witch Is Dead" isn't actually musical, but the kids are shown ringing bells and shouting "The Witch is dead!" (so "ding-dong", etc.)
The kid says "come out...come out", which are the first two sung lyrics of Ding Dong the Witch is Dead. Also, the first five notes immediately after that are the notes from the chorus of that same song.
I’m not sure if someone else has said this but I’m sure the reason for all the practical is two fold. One to pay homage to the original musical and the movie. And also it’s hard to use a green screen when one of your main characters is green😅
I found your channel through Agatha All Along. So, seeing you guys covering Wicked made me so excited !!! I love this musical movie. I cried in the theater. It's so good.
My first time seeing Wicked was the original Chicago cast in the spring of 2005. Stephanie J Block, Kendra Kassebaum, Carol Kane, Libby from Sabrina the teenage witch, even a young Adam Lambert in the ensemble. It was wild. This movie was such an incredible experience. It was my partner’s first time seeing anything Wicked and he absolutely loved it. We’ve now seen it twice and plan to go again.
I first learned of Wicked playing in the backing band for my drummer's little brother's choir when they did a "Night on Broadway" style performance. We did a huge medley of tracks and I've loved it ever since.
i went to see the movie with my boyfriend and it was the first he learned about the story of wicked. we both cried on the ozdust ballroom scene and defying gravity, and i had to explain some things to him so he could understand the lore.. ❤ it was an amazing experience overall..
I don’t think we’re gonna get a trapdoor scene like the play, if you look closely at far end of the screen after the monkeys crash through the window and take flight you can see someone exiting the castle on horseback and I think it’s Elphaba riding Fiyero’s horse 😊
Very few people realize how timeless Frank L. Baum’s original stories are. I’ve only gotten to the fourth of the originals. But yes, they are all Uniquely wonderful, and fun reads. 25:05
I am going to say it… at 40:26 of the monkey getting wings scene we see a painting of the Wizard of Oz young… IS IT JUST ME OR DOES THE WIZARD YOUNG LOOK LIKE RDJ IN THE PAINTING?? 😅🥲
I loved this movie! I love this musical, I'm going through a divorce, I feel I'm trying to defy gravity. I saw this in Chicago in 2005 with my best friend and I leave I've gone through many stages, where I couldn't be happier, but each stage I've had been changed for good
Hmmm, that's not Stephanie J. Block, and anyway SJB was an early Elphaba not a Nessa. I don't think it's Michelle Federer, the original Nessa, either, but I could be wrong.
I love Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldbloom as actors for those roles, but their lack of singing ability stands out in this incredible film. I would have rather seen Lea Solanga and Hugh Jackman in those roles.
my only critique of this movie is that the Ozdust Ballroom doesn't look any kind of swankified, its sole defining feature in the stage musical i always pictured it as a mini Emerald City near Shiz
Elphaba’s cape in the end was a MAIN CHARACTER!
It looked like a twister
@@JunoJ0911it’s meant to resemble the smoke trail from the original film
idk why but i am in love with the single shot we get of Dorothy and the other four on the yellow brick road
I've never seen the musical but I love little details like that for 'nerds' like how in OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL, they name-drop Dorothy's family
2024 being the year of the reign of witches. From Agatha All Along being a massive success to this! IMAGINE THE SCARLET WITCH MOVIE?!?!?!

For Good is gonna destroy me next year. Just the motifs in Part 1 alone brought me to the verge of tears.
It’s an allegory for Facism, Feminism, intersectionality, civil rights. It’s a beautiful story and its timing of release is perfect.
That sounds horrible
@@Jake-ry8wu so does living my life only ever believing what my parents taught me to believe instead of growing up and branching out
Also could be about disability discrimination, racism, etc
@@Jgirl0591 yes! That’s why I said intersectionality, as in like ableism, racism, homophobia
You’re right, the timing is beautiful.

Omg! We get both Glinda and Elphaba here telling us the Easter eggs of wicked! Wooot
Lmaooooo oh no! 🤣😂🤣😂
I don't think that is Stephanie J Block. I think it is Michelle Federer, she's the original Nessarose
Y'all are too cute and such theater nerds! Love this duo Easter Egg video :) Seeing it again tomorrow so this is perfect timing!
I’m not sure if someone else has said this but I’m sure the reason for all the practical is two fold. One to pay homage to the original musical and the movie. And also it’s hard to use a green screen when one of your main characters is green😅
except no not really, blue screens have been a staple of filmmaking for decades at this point
this movie made me believe in Gelphie 😭😭😭
20:04 those are bluebirds flying as in "somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly".
"you addict" took me straight out 😭
I NEED a Dr. Dillamond stuffed animal. He's so precious!
you two need to be hosting together more often
No reference to the shoe box being lined with red sequins?
I can’t stop seeing Glinda’s wand as a double-bladed lightsaber after the cornfield fight
This Breakdown has me defying gravity!!
at 24:50 the left side of the board resembles the shape of a goat with his head down smiling
YES!!! So glad you guys did a recap for this stunning film!
I noticed you know who on the horse at the start and got so excited !!!
This movie blew my mind. You can feel the LOVE that pours from the screen. I'm glad you guys are on it!

Return to Oz is incredible!!!
I had to hold back audible sobs during defying gravity. Holy smokes I loved that movie. I can’t wait to see it again!! 😭😍
6:54 there's no way that's SJB...
i hope part 2 goes into detail with nessa becoming bitter and elphaba seeing the lion cub grown up
26:46 i believe that's an emperor tamarin monkey 😅 i love those little guys their cute
26:46 its an emperor tamarin
IVE BEEN WAITING ALL WEEKEND FOR THIS VIDEO
I first learned of Wicked playing in the backing band for my drummer's little brother's choir when they did a "Night on Broadway" style performance. We did a huge medley of tracks and I've loved it ever since.

good to know that me and the wizard are both from Omaha Nebraska
I love you two. You both should do more things together. I loved this movie. One of the best movies ever
Hey yall did anybody notice all the green and pink imagery everywhere? Such as the lens flare in many scenes?
i went to see the movie with my boyfriend and it was the first he learned about the story of wicked. we both cried on the ozdust ballroom scene and defying gravity, and i had to explain some things to him so he could understand the lore.. ❤ it was an amazing experience overall..
This film was AMAZING!! I need to see it again and again and I need part 2 NOW!!!💚💚
I loved return to Oz
25:46 Jesus, Jessica. Scared tf outta me. 😂😂😂

I love you nerds. I went to see this blind, double blind, never even seen og wizard of oz, loved it. As a normie it works
The best film that has come out in a very long time
I don’t think we’re gonna get a trapdoor scene like the play, if you look closely at far end of the screen after the monkeys crash through the window and take flight you can see someone exiting the castle on horseback and I think it’s Elphaba riding Fiyero’s horse 😊
YES!!! IVE BEEN WAITING FOR
So good vid!!!!
We also see said character on the horse just before that, coming out of the castle😉
I’d love to go see this but I have no way of going so I have to wait 😭
I've been obessed with it since I was fourteen (and I was so worried it was gonna be bad) and it was so good!
I loved it and cried as well😢
NEVER CLICKED FAST OMG!!!
That jay Leno joke broke me
Very few people realize how timeless Frank L. Baum’s original stories are. I’ve only gotten to the fourth of the originals. But yes, they are all Uniquely wonderful, and fun reads. 25:05
I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. I was shaking my head like Glinda as if I had that much hair lol!
Guys, that is NOT Stephanie J. Block.
I am going to say it… at 40:26 of the monkey getting wings scene we see a painting of the Wizard of Oz young… IS IT JUST ME OR DOES THE WIZARD YOUNG LOOK LIKE RDJ IN THE PAINTING?? 😅🥲
We’ve been waiting on this!
The wizard's initials are Oz Pinhead?
OOOH I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE!!!!!!!!
I loved this movie! I love this musical, I'm going through a divorce, I feel I'm trying to defy gravity. I saw this in Chicago in 2005 with my best friend and I leave I've gone through many stages, where I couldn't be happier, but each stage I've had been changed for good
I wonder if Glinda simply doesn't have powers except popularity.
it's the kids ringing the bells for "ding dong"
I think some Easter eggs you guys are reaching so far ?
Just done watched it and I can say because of you guys I have become an Easter egg seeker 😂❤
Remember that Ariana starred on Broadway in the musical 13
What if the lion cub in the cage was doing the MGM Lion?
Glenda reminds me of Elle Woods from Legally Blonde
14:26 When are you doing a video on Spongebob? I love Spongebob
Hmmm, that's not Stephanie J. Block, and anyway SJB was an early Elphaba not a Nessa. I don't think it's Michelle Federer, the original Nessa, either, but I could be wrong.
Jessica, please find out who in the land of “OZ” is braiding Elfaba’s hair? I think it deserves its own video.
Wicked part 1 is supposed to set the stage for Wicked part 2 which will most likely tie into The Wizard of OZ
I'm pretty sure it's "Guh".
I love Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldbloom as actors for those roles, but their lack of singing ability stands out in this incredible film. I would have rather seen Lea Solanga and Hugh Jackman in those roles.
Break down “The Substance” 🙏
This movie makes my eyes and bussy WET😭
👍🏾
16:04 I think you mean "Speciesism"
And yes... it's a word.
At 6.54, that’s not SJB?
LFG
I’m not gunna see the movie so here I am
It must be a familiar knowledge of the history of this movie. I cried 10 times watching Arcane, but zero for this movie.

Your channel is not just a TH-cam channel, it is a real educational portal. Thank you for your contribution!🚌👻📷
my only critique of this movie is that the Ozdust Ballroom doesn't look any kind of swankified, its sole defining feature in the stage musical
i always pictured it as a mini Emerald City near Shiz
Could you two be anymore excited? I don't think so.
Can anyone help me understand how the head mistress knew from the start that Elphaba can’t get wet? Never saw the play
Wow I just realized
It’s a witch thing?
You are not doing Dune Prophecy? :C
No one should
