It's so cute how now that it's clearly a bona fide hit, y'all are putting "love letter" and other kudos in the titles but y'all waited to see because you fear for your algorithms. TH-camrs are such a surprise.
lol in pre-War Philippines (American Colonial Era & Commonwealth Period), movie actors needed to know how to sing, as all pre-War movies were basically semi-musicals (inspired by Spanish Colonial Era _zarzuela_ )
Actually, they picked VERY GOOD musical theater performers (Erivo, Bailey, and Slater)! AND, they were either very smart or very lucky with Ariana Grande.
Movie is a modern masterpiece - already went twice- and there’s no limit to the number of viewings that are ahead - so much to absorb and see new things every time! Absolutely sensational
I’ve seen it three times already lol. I agree with every word you said… it’s one of the best modern movies, arguably the best of this century. It’s incredible
i literally broke out in tears at every song. The Wizard And I? fantastic. Popular? I was popping along. but Defying Gravity? oh. my. gods. they understood that that song was the climax, and they absolutely delivered. i was a little disheartened that they changed Dancing Through Life, but it worked and the set was jaw dropping. this was clearly a cast and crew that understood how special this musical is
Be glad that Universal Pictures took its time for Wicked to developed properly. They swapped Wicked for Cats in it's December 2019 original release date due to Cats being ready for production, it turned out it's for the better for Wicked to be delayed until they find the right production team to do it
With every frame, every note, and every spoken word - you can FEEL how much love and care was put into this movie - to both honor the past, as well as to extend its reach to whole new audiences!
I told a friend, immediately after returning from seeing it, that it was so human and so relatable. I was on a genuine high from it and filled with such joy.
I took my brother and my son to go see this movie and neither of them knew the original performances, but they still enjoyed every song and appreciated every moment. That's just a sign of how good this movie was.
“Don’t Be Afraid….” - Glinda “I’m NOT Afraid…., IT’S The WIZARD Who SHOULD Be Afraid of Me…” - Elphaba The BEST ICONIC LINE In the Entire Film AND Broadway!
You got that right! There are no words for Cynthia Evrio’s Defying Gravity. Idina Menzel’s Defying Gravity blew me away when I was a kid but Cynthia Evrio’s version blew me more away. Honestly, I love the movie more than the broadway version
@ But why? They’re two separate movies. That’s not fair to either part to judge them based on each other, it doesn’t make sense. The movie version is longer and more detailed than the stage version, they bring separate things to the table.
One of the most remarkable things about the film is that both Ariana and Cynthia are proven stars in their respective musical fields (Cynthia has won Tonys and Emmys and been nominated for an Oscar while both of them have earned Grammys), yet they matched each other in the film. Either one could have outshone the other, but each one proved that she was up to the challenge of rising to her costar. And the fact that Ariana is on video from 12-13 years ago saying how much she would love to play Galinda, then winning the part, pouring her heart into it, excelling in it, and proving haters and doubters wrong is just as wonderful as anything else.
Like the Broadway musical when I was 6 years old, I fell in love with it right away. 20 years later, I love it even more in the movie version. I got so excited and wowed. I love everything about it
Every character was done so well, i couldn't agree more. The set is amazing, lovingly detailed, the choreo was spectacular. Lastly, we were gifted with talented cast and undeniable chemistry between all of them. You can actually feel they filmed this with love, passion and freedom. ❤ so grateful to watch this within my lifetime!
I actually whisper-shouted Holy Shiz (avoiding the 't' at the end) when I saw them. Definitely wasn't expecting that but definitely love that surprise 🤩
Saw it twice in 3D (if you haven't seen it in 3d, see it, you see as soon as the first orchestrations of No One Mourns kick in that it's mean to be in 3D) and I think it's a love letter to the fans, but I feel like Chu wanted fans to FINALLY be able to defend the fandom. So many people who don't even like musicals saw this and get it. It's not just about singing, it's about the story and the characters.
I felt the same magic watching it (opening night) as I did when I first saw the stage production so many years ago. Wicked was the first professional musical (not community productions) that I saw live, and I have been obsessed with musicals since! They did such a fantastic job and put so much care into making this movie. This should be the gold standard for making movies based on stage musicals.
Literally just got back home from my 2nd viewing of the movie and I cried even more than the first time. First watched the musical in London 2006 and the 12th time in Melbourne 2024. I still cannot get enough of Wicked, in whatever form. This movie is just amazinggggg and I’ll definitely be watching more times!! ❤❤❤
Floated out of the theater on pure joy? I was sobbing going out of it 😅 but yes it made my heart so full. I was not privileged enough to see the musical but I have a deep love with the music and the story and the film was perfect. I now found a movie I can watch over and over and over 💖💚
I was terrified to go see the movie, mainly because I was doubtful that Ariana Grande would be able to do the complexity of Glinda’s story… but I was proven wrong when I watched her in literally every scene, right from the beginning! I had completely forgotten that she’d been an actress first, and was on Broadway! I can’t wait for next year! I’m dying to see her in more stuff!
I feel this response completely! I think a lot of people forget she was on two tv shows and did broadway. Once she first appears we’re all quickly reminded!!!
I first saw Wicked February 18, 2006. Over the years since, I've seen it 6 more times. I saw the movie during the Prime members preview and saw it again in IMAX. I will be seeing it many more times. I love the stage production, I love the movie, I love the music, I love the message. It's so special to me in many ways. I'm thrilled they nailed it so perfectly!
Wicked sparked my inner theatre kid as a teenager! I’m 31 now and this movie went a little above what I expected. Perhaps the most beautiful movie musical since The Greatest Showman. The only minor flaws I found were the cinematography and run time. Everything else worked flawlessly to my surprise! I even had a quiet fanboy moment when Idina & Kristin appeared. They haven’t lost their vocal touch! Can’t wait for Part 2
Originally Beauty and the Beast is my favorite movie but Wicked totally beat it. There’s no words to describe Wicked because it’s that good. Cynthia Evrio is amazing, Ariana Grande is fantastic, Michelle Yeoh is great, Ethan Slater is good, Jonathan Bailey is spectacular and Jeff Goldblum is wonderful
I haven't watch the theater version or read the books. And I got blown away by this movie. I don't intend to watch the theater version yet until I watch the 2nd movie. Just to see the perspective of those who watched it.
Imagine if Barrie's original Peter Pan (also a stage play) was morphed with Finding Neverland, Hook, and was recreated by fans who understood the nuisances of innocence and youth and the longing for love and family. There are many stories out there written between the lines. Wicked was a life changing experience the moment I purchased the soundtrack from a soundbar in the two story Las Vegas Barnes and Noble. I even had green led lights installed in the interior of my car and green neon bars with on and off switch (Illegal in CA, but OK in NV) underneath the car. His name was Daniel and he took me every Saturday afternoon for the entire first run of Wicked on the west coast Pantages Theatre. AND, it's back! With the "wicked" success (pun intended), the franchise will continue after part two next year. There are a lot of TH-cam channels taking advantage of the "Wicked-mania" but nobody does it better than MsMojo. This one short video made my day 💚
Thank you for pointing out the fact that a Jewish actress originated the role of Elphaba! Also, the producer and songwriter for the musical are Jewish. The show drew large inspiration from the lead up to the Holocaust by the Nazis in the 1930s (with the Wizard representing Hitler and the animals representing Jewish people and other groups who were deemed to be enemies)
I want to see it again!! 🩷💚 I was kicking my feet with joy when I saw Idina & Kristin! Not That Girl and the Ozdust dance made me sob in a way the stage show never did. I'm in love with this movie.
I am hoping for at least three wins: - Best Actress Cynthia Erivo - Best Costume Design - Best Production Design Other good possibilities include Supporting Actress for Ariana, Supporting Actor for Jonathan, Director, Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, Visual Effects, Sound Editing, and Sound Mixing. Original Song and Score are probably out of reach, as it's adapted from the stage (but Part II is said to have some new songs, so it may be eligible...).
I had faith that if Wicked finally got filmed the casting of the two leads would be okay, no way could they get it THAT wrong. The role I worried about was the Wizard. Joel Grey defined iconic in this show (a repeated feat of his) and one reason why is his ability to be whimsical and threatening - often at the same time. Whimsy is hard to get just right. Then the news that Jeff Goldblum had been cast. Whew! Loved this guy since, omg, I guess since he starred in The Tall Guy with Emma Thompson and Rowan Atkinson in the 80s. Once I knew Jon Chu was directing, I knew this would be in the safest and most dedicated of hands. If you haven't read the book about the making of the In the Heights film, you're missing out. Chu and his wife had a baby during the production and asked Lin-Manuel Miranda in they could give the baby the middle name of Heights, to which LMM of course agreed. That's love and dedication to your art! It's been a loooong journey since I first read the book. Can't wait to see the film.
I couldn't be happier with this movie as Wicked is one of my favourite musicals and I was anxious in the build up to its release but all of that melted away by the time the credits rolled
"Unlike some recent movie musicals,it embraces its idenity as just that, a movie musical " "They also didnt try ro modernise the music for broader appeal either." Heres looking at you Mean Girls 2024
I honestly had no idea that Cynthia was black and apart of the LGBTQIA community before watching this video, i honestly only knew black part because she and Ariana did their own take on the Deadpool and Wolverine song
So the answer to the question: "Are people born wicked or is wickedness trust upon them?” is Elphaba was born with the Wicked powers with the elixir that her mom drank when conceived, and then had it thrust upon her when she got older by the Wizard and Madame Morrible and the people of Oz. Its the classic Nature vs. Nurture debate. And in Part 2, her song No Good Deed seals the deal to her acceptance to be what they determine her to be and her spells are like corrupt-a-wish/(spell)
I don't think the powers were necessarily Wicked. I think just like anything (money, power, etc.), they are what we make of them. THey're a tool. We can use for good or evil. This is a recurring theme in the Harry Potter series as well.
The only thing I’m worried about is Nessa’s “big moment” in part 2. ‼️spoiler alert‼️ I love Marisa as Nessa, but, she has to walk in part 2. That’s a huge moment for her. Its when she becomes The Wicked Witch of the East. I would hate for them to have a wheelchair user walk due to CGI or a Harness or something. That I feel would come across…wrong. Idk. I’m anxious to see if they keep it as it is in the broadway musical or if they rework it somehow.
The Wizard of Oz is a classic fairytale movie, Wicked is beyond phenomenal, Tin Man series is great, Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return is okay, Oz The Great and Powerful is good and The Wiz is a great chapter
I was actually skeptical about both actresses. First time I saw Cynthia when they announced she would be Elphaba, I thought she looked too old. After they said Idina & Kristin were too old MANY years prior when talks about the movie started, it kinda bugged me. But she looked plenty young enough in the movie. I saw ppl say it was bc she had hair, or it was the added freckles. I think it was the green skin.
They say that the Universal theme parks are going to lose the Simpsons themed areas thanks to Disney owning those rights after purchasing Fox. Seems to me that Universal now has a ready-made, perfect replacement.
We are tired of seeing prices go up every year while quality goes down. Add to that the sweatshop controversy and it's easy to go to other more affordable brands. As you said, kislux really popular
My wish list: Top 10 disney junior shows Top 10 unimportant pokemon episodes (no catching new pokemon, no evolving, no gym/pokemon leage battle, no meeting new rivles, etc) Top 10 underrated animated disney series Best disney movie per decade Top 10 disney reprise songs (deleted included) Top 10 disney villains that deserved a villain song Top 10 disney couples with a tough start (Both movies and tv-series) Top 10 what have I done moment excluding disney and pixar Top 10 disney movie ideas (by you) Top 10 James earl jones movies 👍😉
this Movie is Very Good... however, I think they could have made part one about 40 minutes shorter... cutting out too many scenes that didn't enhance the story that much... I would have preferred that this movie run 3:15 and finish the story
Anyway, the kislux fakes seem to be of equal or better quality than the real thing, and I can use the remaining money to buy groceries and pay some bills
I know wealthy women who carry replicas. The main reason they gave is that they just understand the value of money and donât want to spend so much money on a bag... kislux allows them to save a lot.
The one iconic line that was in the stage show that I really wanted was cut. Very upset about it. So its not a love letter to fans IMO if they cut what a big fan really wanted from the show. To me, it was bible.
@tjohns25 I was hoping since Fyerio didn't say it in the movie, there should have been a sign at the Ozdust. "Welcome to the most swankified place in town. "
Both actresses were involved in affairs with married people. They are disingenuous with their cringe faux emotional interviews. It's sad when talent is overshadowed by awful personalities. Hard pass.
There’s so much love and intention in this. Even the things you don’t automatically see, like the books in the library, the authentic Munchkin Land huts, having a wheelchair user choreograph Nessa Rose’s dance! I just keep finding new reasons to love this movie more and more every day since I first saw it!💚🩷💚🩷💚🩷💚🩷
Then become a casting director and let those of us who adore Cynthia have our say. And by the way, Ariana has always wanted to play GLINDA…And you do know Cynthia has Emmys, Grammys and Tonys, right? If I didn’t know better I’d think you were racist and homophobic. So kindly. GO AWAY.

I saw ppl say it was bc she had hair, or it was the added freckles. I think it was the green skin.
I love Wicked: Part 1
Great 👍 movie 🎥
They say that the Universal theme parks are going to lose the Simpsons themed areas thanks to Disney owning those rights after purchasing Fox. Seems to me that Universal now has a ready-made, perfect replacement.
I love what you do
Best of humanity ❤
The prophecy they talk about in “one short day” can be understood in oz the great and powerful
We are tired of seeing prices go up every year while quality goes down. Add to that the sweatshop controversy and it's easy to go to other more affordable brands. As you said, kislux really popular
Awesome Wicked movie!

Oscar 2025 Best Supporting Actress: Ariana Grande.
The wizard of oz The wiz wicked ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
And oz the great and powerful
this Movie is Very Good... however, I think they could have made part one about 40 minutes shorter... cutting out too many scenes that didn't enhance the story that much... I would have preferred that this movie run 3:15 and finish the story
wow
Anyway, the kislux fakes seem to be of equal or better quality than the real thing, and I can use the remaining money to buy groceries and pay some bills
I see no reason to alter the lyrics at all

Jonathan Bailey is yummy yum yum. What team does he play for?
He’s gay, if that’s what you’re asking…
I know wealthy women who carry replicas. The main reason they gave is that they just understand the value of money and donât want to spend so much money on a bag... kislux allows them to save a lot.
LMFAO!!!!!!
The one iconic line that was in the stage show that I really wanted was cut. Very upset about it. So its not a love letter to fans IMO if they cut what a big fan really wanted from the show. To me, it was bible.
"What's the most swankified place in town??"
@tjohns25 nope. Hint: it's in Dancing Through Life. But it's not on the Stage Musical soundtrack. It's in the show.
@@kenfrmcape2355 I'm answering what my favorite iconic line is that was taken out and not included in the movie
@tjohns25 I was hoping since Fyerio didn't say it in the movie, there should have been a sign at the Ozdust. "Welcome to the most swankified place in town. "
@@kenfrmcape2355 that's a great idea! They should have done that
Defying Gravity was disappointing
Both actresses were involved in affairs with married people. They are disingenuous with their cringe faux emotional interviews. It's sad when talent is overshadowed by awful personalities. Hard pass.
Cap with the title lol
There’s so much love and intention in this. Even the things you don’t automatically see, like the books in the library, the authentic Munchkin Land huts, having a wheelchair user choreograph Nessa Rose’s dance! I just keep finding new reasons to love this movie more and more every day since I first saw it!💚🩷💚🩷💚🩷💚🩷
This movie was so damn boring even my lady said wtf is this 😅😅😅
And then here you are watching and commenting on this video
@dalecooper9942 can't help it if It pops up on my fyl 😅😅😅 calm down
defying gravity? phhhh LISTEN TO HER SING WIZARD N I GURL-
Ariana should’ve been the witch
Then become a casting director and let those of us who adore Cynthia have our say. And by the way, Ariana has always wanted to play GLINDA…And you do know Cynthia has Emmys, Grammys and Tonys, right? If I didn’t know better I’d think you were racist and homophobic. So kindly. GO AWAY.
Wicked movie holds close to my heart! I love how the actors portrayed the characters and how much emotion they bought 🫶
Fun Fact: According to Twitter, Ariana Grande wanted to be Glinda in Wicked. After 13 years of waiting, her dream finally came true. 🩷
And she actually auditioned 5 times for the role because they just weren’t sure she was gonna be the right fit for the role
Didn't she actually say she wanted to be Elphaba?
I wonder if having an affair with her married costar was part of that dream. 😂
Closer to 20 years! She met Kristin Chenoweth backstage in her dressing room when she was 10 and she turned 30 on set. Insanity.
There's video on youtube from 12-13 years ago of Ariana on a radio show saying she wanted to be Galinda.
