We were there this same day!! My brother-in-law is in the background of this video!! So much fun this day. We really enjoyed the sand dollars 🥰 We just love your videos.
I love my Sunday evening shelling adventures with you.. This was one of the best so far.. Lots of great shells and all of the live horse conchs, wow.. Thanks for sharing.
By far the best shelling adventure yet. Wow, all the amazing live horse conches and live lighting whelks. The amount of amazing live critters was fabulous. Loved the albino nutmeg. This was a stunning shelling adventure.
I've had the pleasure of joining you virtually for so many awesome adventures, but this has got to be one of, if not the BEST of all the days!!! Just the amount of shells and creatures to experience!!! What a beautiful haul you were able to bring home!!! I could watch for hours and not get bored!! Only thing that could be better would to be there in person! Stay safe and thanks for sharing your adventures with us!!
This beach visit was truly special. There were so many things to check out! I love days when there are critters and shells so I was in heaven! Thanks so much for coming along with me!
3 years ago, I won a trip to Florida (I'm French) and due to the sanitary situation, the borders have closed a week before our trip, which has been postponed 4 times since then. I've been watching your videos since we first got locked down, and I was both hopefull to get there one day and scared that we might not make it. Today, we got the passeport that we were waiting for for 3 months, and we will finally visit Sanibel island in a few weeks !!! Thanks to you, I'm much better prepared to identify all the beach treasures we will come across ;)
That is amazing!!! I'm so glad after all this time you'll finally be able to visit! It's so beautiful and tranquil - and I hope you find lots of souvenirs on the beach to remember your trip by! Safe travels!
I cannot believe how many shells there were on that beach. That was really something! Love the albino nutmeg and the limpet... so many beautiful shells!
I love to go shelling with you! Thanks so much for taking me along! For just a little while, I can travel back to my home and walk along the beach with you. Been in the hospital so I've been silent for a good while. Hoping that's all behind me now. Thanks for the compassion and respect you give to animals who are stranded and putting them back where they belong. It's cool to see how they. Look while they're living in the shells we love. Sometimes, I think it's easy to forget that our treasures were once some animal's home. I have always been mindful of that fact and I'm glad you are, too. Thanks so much for your great videos. I've enjoyed them immensely.
I hope you are feeling better and thank you for coming along on my virtual beach walk. I was just saying the other day a few years ago I had no idea where shells came from. They were just there on the beach. To find the live animals is such a treat and it's just amazing what Mother Nature can create!
This adventure was just a huge slice of shell heaven! Thank you Sharmon!!! The alphabet the hinged jewel boxes.. the live critters..all those horse conchs tails up!! So wish I was there!!!

Hey Charmon (hope I spelled that correctly, if not I apologize). My wife Christina and I (we are big fans) are literally going there tomorrow morning to kayak out to Dickmans. It will be our final big beach day before heading back up north. Just wanted to say we love your videos, content, and production, and always look forward to watching. Even tonight as we sit in our hotel room on sanibel lol. You have taught both of us so very much about this wonderful area of southwest Florida, and the critters that inhabit the waters. Thank you so very much! Continue the good work, and happy shelling Shawn & Christina Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Shawn & Christina I hope you have an amazing trip and find lots of fabulous souvenirs to bring home! Thank you for coming along with me on my beach adventures!
Oh my gosh, it was like being a kid let loose in a candy store, I’ll bet! Fantastic trip, thanks for taking us along. Your trip videos are the highlight of my week!
My husband and I love watching your Sunday night videos. One day we are going to visit during the winter months. We are summer visitors due to our teaching careers
Winter is VERY crowded, however the shells are much easier to find. If you get lucky enough to visit around the time of a storm, you'll hit the jackpot!
You found such wonderful moon snails. it was a truly amazing day. Thanks for the voice-over so we don't have to deal with wind & other noise.. I really appreciate these trips while the snow comes down. Again, Thanx..
This brings so much happiness to my week. We are officially moving in the next 3-6months to the Cape Coral/Ft. Myers area. I currently live in Utah. I will be coming down first, ahead of my husband and son, and I can’t wait to go shelling and call that paradise my new home. Thank you for taking us with you on your adventures. You have taught me so much.
I hope you love it here as much as we do. I pinch myself all the time. I love everything about Florida! Well, I could do without the hurricanes, but it's still worth it!
I I’m commenting a week after hurricane Ian. I hope you all are ok. My place is on the shore Ft Myers Beach. Not much standing I believe we will all recover and be able to rebuild somehow. God bless everyone.

I am living vicariously through your videos! I live in land locked North Dakota with our 8th winter storm almost upon us & I'm desparately missing my hubby who passed away in 2020. We used to vacation on Florida's Gulf coast where my favorite thing to do was shelling. (I'm going to miss those vacations so much, too) So..thank you so much for your vidoes!

Hi Kaye. So sorry for your loss. Maybe some day you will make another trek to the beach; who knows? Anyways, you comment touched my heart. I'm holding you up in prayers for blessings head to toe. No doubt, Sharman is a blessing to us all. Stay warm there in North Dakota don't cha know. Thanks for sharing
By change I clicked on an Australian channel, a teenage boy finding, collecting, buying and selling shells. And for prices you can't believe. Those big Florida fighting konk (I don't know how to write it??) orange or darker, they sell e-bay! So, if one day your house is full... Perhaps you can make some money. There are a lot of people like me, who can't search for shells themself but do want them... Lot's of love from the Netherlands, Daniëlle 😘🙋
I actually did try to sell shells on eBay a while ago and it was such a pain that I just sell my shells through email. Oh another lovely beach day hunting shells with my dear friend 🧜🏼♀️🐚 Someday I truly will get to go shelling with you 🤗 Thank you love for another calming beachy video 💕
Hi Sharmon, Congratulations with your albino Nutmeg! It's stunning!😍 Ik keep my fingers crossed for you to find an albino Olive.🤞🏻 What a great haul of gorgeous shells. I really LOVE the huge Shark Eye and the Banded Tulip. But to be honest: I love them all. I would be over the moon if I just found one of the shells you found that day. And all those live Horse Conches. Think I've never seen so many alive in one of your video's. Thank you so much for taking us with you, I enjoyed every minute of it. Have a lovely week. Big hug and lots of love, xoxo ❤️, Ilona
This trip was a last minute decision and I'm so glad I was able to go! It was a wonderful day exploring and to find all the live creatures AND shells? I was in heaven! Thank you for always coming along and I hope you have a wonderful week too!
I grew up on the west coast and have been away from the beaches for years. I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Takes me back to places I love. I found lots of those shells as a kid shell hunting with my family. Miss those sunset walks at low tide! But not the heat ..lol. thank you for sharing with us who can't be there to see it. 😍👍
I'm looking forward to the summer sunset walks at low tide! The tides change here and in the winter the low tides are early but in the summer they tend to be in the evening. I'll be sharing those walks in a few months. Thank you so much for coming along with me on my beach walk!
Great shelling day! All the shells are beautiful. I especially love the tops of the lightening whelks. I think the patterns are so unique! Good job resisting picking up 100’s of sand dollars! Excellent self control. 👍 Great walk. 🐚
@9:00, Be still my heart! I Love the Giant Atlantic Cockles! This one is gorgeous: beautiful color, fantastic texture, big and just a beautiful shape. I love the Cockles and Scallops. Actually I love highly textured shells (oh, who am I kidding, I Love them all). Back to the vid, Thanks Sharmon 😊
Wow! It's amazing to think that my Florida video is making it's way all the way to South Africa. That's so cool! I'd love to see what the beaches down there look like. Thanks so much for watching!
I’m from Boston,MA and I was down by Biloxi MS for work for the weekend. I was excited to look for shells on Biloxi beach, but there were none that day. A local person told me that they really don’t get shells much unless there is a big storm. It was still nice to get my toes in the water. It was cold but I could not resist getting my feet wet.
The ocean has a way of calling to us doesn't it? I'm glad you at least got your toes in the sand and surf and I hope you enjoyed your beach time despite the lack of shells. I'm kind of spoiled here in Florida!
I have watched all of your videos at least twice. But I think this is my favorite one. how you educate us on the critters is just the best time for me. Thank you thank you thank you. I think I’ve watched this one 5 times trying to educate myself and put it in my brain so I can remember all those names of the parts of the Texas Crown Conch.
It's helped me finding the same shell over and over to really identify it, so hopefully all your rewatching is paying off! Thanks for coming to the beach with me!
You are so very welcome! I am having a fantastic time sharing these beaches and all the things I'm learning along the way. Thanks for coming to the beach with me!
Wow love your videos. I have collected shells from wrightsville beach 40 years ago . Some are similar to yours. I would love to visit down there. My niece moved to Naples. Mike Nichols
I just went back and I TOTALLY see the black triangle you're referring to! I suspect it's was just beach "stuff" and not a tooth but it sure looked like it could have been one!
O M G !!! I cannot even believe ALL of those horse conchs! I’m am just imagining what it would be like if all of them were empty! Girl you would not be complaining anymore how heavy the fighting conchs are! 😂 I’m sure you’d be rounding them all up! I know I would!
That island had a lot of horse conchs and all live. That is amazing to see! Aw bummers, that was a big lightning welk but occupied by a hermit crab. Nice to see the critters. A lot of good shells you found there. Great video.
Oh my what a great collection I’m not able to come to Florida this year so am thrilled to find your sight! I see something and am talking to you trying to get you to pick it up. I was so happy when a moment later you have it in your hand. We are in the middle of a three days of blizzard which looks like it may be 4 days as tomorrow is more snow and wind. My daughter from Cape Coral is stuck 90 miles from me with her daughter at college in Fargo ND. We won’t have time to get our visit with her as she needs to head back to Florida:(
That's a calico box crab carapace. I don't normally collect them but quite a few people have commented on them so I'll have to show a better example next time I see one!
@@shellexpedition2013 You know ...I was thinking that it was a crab shell ...but I know them only to be bluish in color ...until they're cooked of course! ...(steamed is the only way to go ...IMO!) Thanks, I will def be googling it!
@@SWFBeachLife Many Thanks to you! I live on Venice Island & really need to get to the beach more often. It's actually embarrassing how often I go. But, I've gotten into rockhounding and making jewelry. I'm interested in upping my game/collection!
What an awesome shell day you had!! I am in complete awe of your gorgeous shell haul! I loved all the critters too but my favorite was watching the lettered olive dig into the sand. So cool!
Aren't they wild to see moving around like that? They seem to move similar to the moon snails. I just love seeing the live creatures AND so many fabulous shells!
Yes, I’m so fascinated with all the creatures too. I also loved the big question mark the one olive made. For the most part, I can now name the shells as you pick them up. My new Sunday evening game is to pick out which will be your favorites in the show and tell at the end. And oh, what choices you had this week!!
So fascinating to see all of the creatures in their shells. I am new to shelling and just love your videos. I find them informative, fun, entertaining, and educational. Well done, you have inspired me to pursue this new hobby, and I am loving it!!!
Welcome to the club! Shelling is just so much fun - and there is so much to learn about the critters and the shells and the beaches. Best of shelling luck to you and thank you so much for coming along with me on my beach walk!
Living in the western Pacific I could hardly wait for a Typhoon to move on before I was in the water. The bottom of the shelf below the tidal range was loaded with fresh dead cowries, cones, miters, etc.. It was particularly good shelling for the smaller species that normally could never be found. Favorite finds were Conus Cylindraeus, Mitratus, Violaceus and Pertusus.
I'm not big on the scientific names - I'm just a more casual type of gal but when I looked up the shells you were finding I just about fell out of my chair! They're gorgeous!!! If I could find shells like that, I might look forward to a typhoon!
WOW!!! What an exciting walk!! One of the Spiny Jewelbox that you kept looked like a hedgehog. I think if I remember correctly was one of the last one you kept but it was a single one. Thought that was cute. I couldn't believe all the live big shells you were finding!! You did awesomely on this walk!! Thanks for the beautiful great walk!! I totally wish I was there with you!! Have a great week!! 😊🐬
I know exactly the jewel box you're referring to. I just love when they are all spikey! It was such a fun day between all the great shells and all the amazing creatures. I wish every beach day could be like this!
I went shelling on Saturday (not to make a video - just for fun) and I really had a great time looking for tinies. I'll be sure to feature them one of these days in an upcoming video!
So glad you went kayaking to Dickmans, it’s always good to paddle in a group or pair. Each experience on the water will improve your skills. Oh man, what a gorgeous haul of shells! My favorite was the albino nutmeg, but the giant alphabet cone was a close second. And the pile of lightening whelks was awesome. Thanks for posting every week.
Wow!! Awesome trip/collection! I really loved seeing all of those live horse conchs! It would be a treat to see just one - such a bonus to see so many!
Every time I watch this one, I get so jealous! I’m too far north to get most of those awesome shells. I will come down for a long weekend with my husband this summer when we can get a break. I can’t wait! That was a fantastic day hunting at the beach!!!
You just reminded me of a woman I had chatted with on the beach after a hurricane swept by. She booked a hotel on purpose to come here to go shelling. It was a bit of a disappointment - it wasn't this walk, but you just never know what's going to be out there. I hoe you have a super lucky day when you choose to come!
Nice shelling! Your favorites from the day were my favorites too! A few FYIs for you I think the lace murex at 12:00 is an interesting 'freak'. You can see where the original siphonal canal broke off for some reason, and the animal grew a new one next to it, but at an odd angle, and the color of the canal is different from the rest of the shell too (if you compare it side-by-side to the other lace murex you brought back, you'll see the difference). Speaking of lace murex, it looks like one of the ones you got from Ali is an albino lace murex (shell looks to be all white including the very tip, which is pink in the 'normal' shells. ) So you may have had a two-albino day. And finally the slipper shell at 23:00 is a spiny slipper shell, a different species than the spotted and the atlantic slipper shells (I don't think you showed a spiny slipper shell on any of your prior videos, but I may not have seen them all). Like your beloved spiny jewel boxes, they can vary a lot in their spiny-ness. They don't get as spiny as the jewel boxes, but they always have at least the rough ridges like yours did (the other slipper shell species are always smooth to the touch), and sometimes the spiny slipper has long spines. They're usually orange/brown and never spotted.
I have found spiney slipper snails! I don't usually pay all that much attention to them but I've definitely seen them before. I guess I like anything that's usual. And I now see the "freakiness" of that lace murex. Pretty cool! Another sheller told me that the lace murexes can be all-white naturally. I'd have a hard time telling the difference between an albino AND an all white version. Either way - they're pretty dang neat. I tried out that spot you told me about and managed to find ONE of those little beauties but it could have been a "slow" day. I'll definitely be back!
Hmm....re the albino lace murex, it might just be semantics. We call them albino and I think the Sanibel Museum included them in their 'albino mollusks of Sanibel" exhibit, but either way YES some of them are entirely white, that seems to be true of a rather high proportion of the ones that wash up from Dickmans and Kice. @@SWFBeachLife
I love hermit crabs there art pieces on display instead of for sale😍 And with all that you found today I wouldn’t be hurtin about not getting there shells
Loved this beach day! I had to smile at the keyhole limpet. We have thousands of those on the beaches in western Washington. Just took them for granted.

No worries mermaid - I'll be here! I hope you are good and you have a great week! ❤️
I can’t wait to come back to shell 2/26-3/5! Great video!
I hope you find lots of goodies!
Oh My Gosh! What a haul! Absolutely gorgeous shells. And, those Spiny Jewel Boxes, wowser. Beautiful Sea Gems, all of them 😍
I like your new albino nutmeg👏🏻👍
Hi Sharmon,
Congratulations with your albino Nutmeg! It's stunning!😍 Ik keep my fingers crossed for you to find an albino Olive.🤞🏻
What a great haul of gorgeous shells.
What great shelling…I’m so jealous 🥰
Great shelling day! All the shells are beautiful. I especially love the tops of the lightening whelks. I think the patterns are so unique! Good job resisting picking up 100’s of sand dollars! Excellent self control. 👍 Great walk. 🐚
LOL - yes, I had to ignore the sand dollars or I would have collected them and nothing else! Thanks so much for coming along with me!
That's me! I can't pick a favorite shell. There's too many things to admire about so many of them!
I love your gentleness and respect for the shells and critters! I watch every episode from Cape Town South Africa.
Wow! It's amazing to think that my Florida video is making it's way all the way to South Africa. That's so cool! I'd love to see what the beaches down there look like. Thanks so much for watching!
Cape Town in da house! Woo hoo!
@@SWFBeachLife you would be very dissapointed with shelling in Cape Town, the most beautiful beaches, very few shells if any.
@@veronicadeanboshoff8687 Good to know I’m not missing much but would still love to see it. 🌴
Another fabulous video. I love that I can get my shelling fix by watching your great day on the beach!
I Love Ali's Tours!!!! Everytime that I do a tour is with her and we always come back home Happy
She is such a doll! I have no trouble recommending her and her services! ❤️
Those spiny jewel boxes are sooooo awesome. I would love to have one. Love the murex too. Ok just love them all.
I know - it's really hard to choose just one!
Absolutely amazing. Fun trip I could smell the ocean🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩💜💜
I wish every beach day could be like this one!
You are the only sheller I watch
I am completely amazed at your knowledge of all the shells. I so much enjoy going to the beach with you. Thank you!
You are so very welcome! I am having a fantastic time sharing these beaches and all the things I'm learning along the way. Thanks for coming to the beach with me!
It was so nice to see the live critters. Thank you.
Wow, You really found many Gems. Thanks for taking Us Along, really needed a sign of Spring Chris from Chicago♥️
Beautiful shark eyes!
Oh my goodness!. I didnt want this video to end...beautiful haul!❤
Exceptionally great haul! I loved every minute of it. Thanks for taking us along!
Soooo jelly !! Love your videos!
Thank you for sharing the critters! You found wonderful shells! Thanks for the beach time too.
So many beautiful shells!
Hi! I love your videos so much! I’ve always had an interest in shells and beach/sea creatures! I hope you’re having a good day!
Thank you!
I am loving all the live critters. Glad to know what they look like. I also love the banded tulips. What a fantastic shelling day you had!
Your channel is growing like crazy, that's wonderful!!
I'm so excited! I hope it keeps up the momentum! 🙏🏼
Beautiful
Shells
🐚❤️
This is a dream shelling day! What an amazing haul! Such a generous guide too! Really enjoying this!
Wow love your videos. I have collected shells from wrightsville beach 40 years ago . Some are similar to yours. I would love to visit down there. My niece moved to Naples. Mike Nichols
Not all beaches were created equally - we really do have the best shells! I hope to do get to visit and maybe find some shells for yourself!
What a wonderful collection of shells! Thanks for sharing !
The storm really churned up the ocean bed and the shelled sea life. What a great adventure of discovery on this beach! 🇺🇸 Jess
Beachcombing after a good winter storm is THE BEST!!! Thanks so much for coming along!
@@SWFBeachLife Truly my pleasure. I miss the Keyes and your walk alongs are wonderful and rejuvenating. Always fun and enjoyable. ❤️🇺🇸
I have never been near a big body of water before.
This is facinating
Wow! Amazing shelling day! Absolutely love the alphabet cone, albino nutmeg and the beautiful FFC!! Thank you for another fun video. ☺️
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow. Great shelling!
when you pick up the tulip right in the beginning, my shark-tooth hunting heart just about seized! 😂
I just went back and I TOTALLY see the black triangle you're referring to! I suspect it's was just beach "stuff" and not a tooth but it sure looked like it could have been one!
Nice haul and beautiful creatures. I look forward to your post every week. Thanks for taking us with you!
wow this was so awesome! Loved all the critters so fun to see!! your end haul was wooee nice! my fav was the little albino nutmeg : )
We won’t have time to get our visit with her as she needs to head back to Florida:(
I hope you stay safe in that blizzard! I'm so happy my snow shoveling days are over!
What's that spotted leopard-looking gem at @28:25? ...I was so hoping you'd pick it up! lol
I Believe that to be a leopard Crabshell
Another fantastic shelling day you captured ! Thank you for the Beach walk ! I'll be there soon !!
Absolutely beautiful, what a wonderful day. 🐚
Super excited to be returning to Marco Island for my second kayak trip in the ten thousand islands! Headed there in March! Can’t wait!
I hope you find lots of souvenirs!
Looks like so much fun! I love “tinies”, those tiny shells to use for decorative purposes, like those shell jewelry boxes.
Thanks so much for coming along with me every week!
Wow!! Awesome trip/collection! I really loved seeing all of those live horse conchs! It would be a treat to see just one - such a bonus to see so many!
It was so awesome!
A few FYIs for you
I think the lace murex at 12:00 is an interesting 'freak'.
I love hermit crabs there art pieces on display instead of for sale😍
And with all that you found today I wouldn’t be hurtin about not getting there shells
Loved this beach day! I had to smile at the keyhole limpet. We have thousands of those on the beaches in western Washington. Just took them for granted.
I definitely think the allure of shells are the ones that are harder to find. I could faint if I saw a beach with thousands of limpets!
