Wow, fabulous haul this week! I think you may have missed a Wentletrap around 8:08 just before you picked up a handful of gorgeous minis. But my goodness, how fun was that trip? I think my favorite this week is your washed out Turrid! Thanks for always posting such lovely videos.
Well shoot - I can't find it and just as well. That drives me MAD when I see a shell I missed 😅 I'll have to console myself with my golden olive I guess - LOL! Kice is SO fun! Thank you for enjoying it with me!
Oh boy! Back at Kice!😁 Very beautiful apple murex with the lacy edges! Those purple CS's just slay me! I would go nuts at Kice! All those beautiful mini's! Love the "half the calories" BL!😁 Wow! It's not easy to get out there, but boy it is worth it! It's so hard to make it very far as I walk so slow trying to check out as many little pockets as I can. One of these days I'm going to spend the whole day there! xoxoxo
The ribbed cantharis and horse conch shell looks very similar. I think I would have a hard time telling them apart. You have a good eye for spotting the tiniest shells there. Lots of good shell finds going through the piles.
I'm not great at identifying the really tiny shells but I figure I'll start learning the more I find them and pick them up. It's definitely not the same as looking at pictures in a book!
Wow…talk about an awesome shell day! You could have sat in one spot and picked up hundreds of shell! Saw a tiny cone and I was screaming in my head, “Go back!” lol
Oh I see some shells in the video when I'm editing and I'm hoping I either grabbed that shell or I wonder why I didn't show it in the video, so it happens to me too! Kice is one of those places that there are so many shells to choose from!
Well the count down has begun! 40 days until I get to shell to my hearts content for 7 days!!! I will be recharging and relaxing before my last semester of nursing school. Thank you for my weekly dose of beachy goodness. Sea you next Sunday.
I love your videos so much! I went to stump pass on my vacation because of one of your videos (I’m from Ohio the drive was insane haha) and I found a few of my bucket list shells! My friends thought it was so crazy I could identify so many shells and kept asking me what each was named. One of the first times I’ve ever gone to the ocean I found a TRUE tulip that’s measured just over four inches! It was so cool learning what the shell was from watching your videos and it’s crazy to me how gorgeous and intact this thing is. Thanks for the cool videos! I can’t wait to go back and eventually go to kice
Stump Pass is where I found my big horse conch! And that true tulip you found sounds amazing! I've never found true tulip in one piece that big but I keep looking. I'm so glad you found so many great shells. I hope you do get to go to Kice one day. It's just as amazing as it looks!
My family and I just came back from Marco Island. This was our second year going there and it had become our favorite place to go on vacation. My brother, sister in law and I just love to shell. We have turned it into a friendly competition. We booked Hemingway Water Shuttle, one that was recommended by you, and they are absolutely amazing. Very friendly family. We also did kayaking to Kice and it was our first time kayaking, it wasn’t the easiest but boy were we glad we did it. We found so many Murex it was crazy! Just want to let you know that we appreciate and enjoy your videos. We watch them as a family when I visit them at their home. Your voice sounds lovely as well =)
I'm so happy you have been able to experience some of the trips I've gone on. It really is incredible to call this place my home! Isn't it wild when you show up at a beach and you'll find so many of one particular shell? I've learned you never know what that's going to happen so enjoy it when you can! Thanks for letting me know you enjoy watching my content. I hope your next trip to Marco is even better than the last one!
I would not be able to pass up all of those fighting shells! They seemed like they were everywhere. I guess you do get tired of finding the same shells over and over again. That island is not much to look at but I sure would like to visit one day.
Oh I don't get tired of finding the same shells. There are so many interesting little differences between them and I think they're all fascinating. I hope you do get to visit Kice one day ☺️
Hi Sharmon, As always, Kice never disappoint. What a gorgeous shells! I really love the tiny ones. And that Golden Olive! Yay! Another one for the collection. What a bummer that that white FFC wasn't an albino. But it's still stunning 😍. Are you at any time trying to go snorkeling again? Or is that impossible? As always, thank you so much for taking us with you on your beach walks! It's so highly appreciated! I'm enjoying every second of it, while laying cozy under my Florida beach duvet. Have a fantastic week! Big hug and lots of love, xoxo ❤️, Ilona
Hello beach-duvet, Netherlands Beach Friend (that was a mouthful!) Kice is always so good to me. It's so much work getting out there, but it's so worth it! And I actually wanted to give snorkeling a try earlier this week but the water was too cloudy so I walked and scooped instead. I have my mask on the ready and I do hope to try snorkeling - I just have to find the right conditions. And it's getting rainy here in the evening/afternoons so that's making trying to hit low tide a bit more tricky too ☺️ I hope everything is good by you and all the news you've been getting has been positive ❤️❤️❤️
I have to say I had to chuckle when you said if you’re not careful, you may get impaled at Kice because when I recently went on a shell tour to Morgan Island, I had a little fall amongst all of the sticks coming out of the ground, and I got quite beat up, but not impaled and no broken bones so therefore clean myself off, stopped the bleeding and on with shelling I went lol 🤗my husband told the captain of the boat there’s nothing that is going to stop her🐚🤍🐚
Atta girl! I have knocked my head a few times, stubbed my feet hundreds of times, but I've manage to keep the bleeding to a minimum - LOL! I do carry lots of band aids with me just in case though! You only get to be out there for so long so shell while you're out there and lick your wounds once your back on land 🤣💪🏻
So you actually did slow down, bend down, and find some amazing little tinies and other special shells? Some day we may even see you turn over a few shells?? LOL - those shells better be up on top waiting for you!! Kice is definitely one of the best spots I have seen in any of the videos - thank you for sharing! {{shell hugs}}
Kice is definitely on the top of my list of favorite beaches to visit. I wish it was easier to get to, but it certainly keeps the "traffic" down! Thank you so much for coming along my beach adventures with me!
That golden olive was awesome! And all those gaudy's were 10/10. The mystery white shell does look a lot like a Sanibel Turrid, but it seems slightly weird to me. Then again, I can't think of anything else it could be, so I guess it's just an awesome white (albino?) color form. That light FFC I think could be considered an albino, but I guess it just depends what you classify albino as. Great walk as always :)
I'm still hunting for that albino olive too. I love seeing the "weirdo" shells since there are so many of the "normal" ones ☺️ After seeing your last video I want to go to the Carolina's to see what I can find!
There are quite a few. If you like the kayaking experience, I would recommend SWFL Shell Guide (www.swflshellguide.com). If you would prefer to just take a boat there, I would reach out to Reel Kind (www.reelkind.com). Each tour will take you to where the good stuff is!
HELLO MY FRIEND SHARMON!!! Quick question for you. Can you give the name of the Books/reference material you use or have used to identify all these shells and critters and where do we get them? Thank You. Much love and respect.
Hello beach friend! Ok, the one book I constantly use is Florida's Living Beaches. It's a fantastic resource and you can find it on Amazon: amzn.to/3aqkmO0 The second book I've found to be very helpful is Trish Hartmann's book, Bivalve Seashells of Florida: amzn.to/3G8ngWo also available on Amazon. I hope these help you as much as they've helped me!
@@SWFBeachLife SHARMON Thank You soooo much. I'll go order them now. I wanna learn all my shells before I get me ved down there, or most. So I know what I'm looking for. Like I said before. It'll probably be a couple/few more years. That'll give me a lil time to learn some, most, all. Lol! Much Thanks, much thanks my most excellent Beach Buddy. YOU ROCK! Seriously, be careful out there, and stay safe.
Another beautiful beach day, can’t wait until I can plan a trip down there and do some shelling and see the beaches. My wife and me are trying to plan to come down there as soon as we can decide when and which beach to stay at
Hi Sharmon! YAY , another Kice trip. You know it's my favorite. I so can't wait to be there again. Someone else asked and I was wondering too, how are the no see ums and other biting insects there this time of year. I come in January, the best shells ever and no bugs! Enjoyed this video as always! Have a shelltastic week!
OMG Kice in January is shellers heaven! The bugs are normally not bad as long as there is a little breeze. No breeze means annoying bugs but it really only happens once in a while. They didn't bother me this trip but I will definitely pack bug spray for my next trip there just in case!
If you are only getting one, it's Florida's Living Beaches:amzn.to/3aqkmO0 It's a FANTASTIC resource for all things beach here in Florida. Another book that's been helpful is this one: amzn.to/3G8ngWo I find the books that concentrate on the shells in a particular area are more helpful than random books on shells. I hope these help!
Me yelling at the screen “ for the love of god woman! Pick up ALL of those Florida fighting conches! 😂😂😂😂 But you do know best! Smart to wait and not haul them around 😊
Have you ever considered collecting a box of shells for fans to purchase. I live in Montana and am totally wishing for the worm critter creations and prices of different worm snails and reef bits. I make pine needles baskets from our ponderosa pines here and would love to put some of those things into my baskets. I like the shells for sure we do t have any here lol but I really am intrigued by the unique shaped non traditional shell things too
I went through quite a process trying to figure out how to sell shells. I tried eBay (eh), I set up a store on my website (way too time intensive) so now I do sell shells, but I just do each order custom through email. I'd be happy to give you more details! Shoot me an email at swfbeachlife@gmail.com and I will give you the info.
I don't live near or visit the beaches. So I purchased crushed oyster shells, for plants to get calcium. That's why I inquired about all the shells on the beach. I now know not to take home live ones. Only did when I was a young kid.
I think most people just don't know about the sea snails and that live creatures actually make them. I knew I didn't really think about it until I started visiting the beach on a regular basis. There is so much to learn!
Love the channel ….. thinking of trying Marco island and kice for a shelling adventure while on vacation next month ……on your recent visit to kice how was the NO SEE UMS? And what do you use the help against them ?
The no seem ums are only really miserable if there is little to no wind and for the most part I've been really lucky with the bugs. There is a spray I have that kind of seems to work (when I remember to use it!) but it's currently unavailable on Amazon. Perhaps you can find it at another retailer: www.amazon.com/no-no-see-um-natural-insect-repellent/dp/b00co6sf78
I discovered your channel last fall when I was in hospital (103 days). What joy to travel with you on your shelling journeys! What do you do with all the shells? Do you have an Etsy shop? My shelling days are past tense (bed bound now), but would love to get a few of the smaller shells just to hold and enjoy! Thank you for the beach time as I’ve learn so much and find it very relaxing. 🐚💜🐚
Well I'm sure glad you are choosing to come to the beach with me and you found my channel. You are exactly the type of person I think about and go out and share my walks with. I know not everyone is as lucky as I am to live here! As far as what I do with my shells, mostly I keep them in glass jars, vases and lanterns. I showed my collection in a past video: th-cam.com/video/Afy0jl0smpE/w-d-xo.html Then, I put some shells to the side to sell and others to do projects with. I've managed to complete 2 projects thus far. A shell mirror: th-cam.com/video/Mf5SVm8m5n8/w-d-xo.html And a shell photo frame: th-cam.com/video/h9UIvqlOzgM/w-d-xo.html I have lots of ideas I just need to find more time! I do sell my shells! I do it through email so shoot me an email at swfbeachlife@gmail.com and I can give you the details. I would love for you to have a couple of my shells to hold onto as you're visiting the beach with me!
I fight it hard to believe that Florida fighting conch is not actually an albino. I'd get a second opinion. I may not share your love of the banded tulips but I do share your love of the Florida fighting conchs.
While it is white, even I questioned it when I found it as it wasn't that WHITE color that albinos typically come in. I'll find my perfect one eventually!
@@angela-ti1np It was, but there is a different white that albinos usually are. Imagine login to the paint store and looking at an eggshell white, then a WHITE white. The albinos are WHITE and I was really hoping but I think Ali was right. It's okay - I don't mind the hunt at all!
@@SWFBeachLifeI'm not seeing any information to support this theory that an albino shell will always be one specific shade of white. That would assume that nothing in the animal's environment would ever affect the color of the shell.
@@angela-ti1np It's one of those things that once you've seen it enough, you just know.I'll have to see if I can find 2 shells for a comparison in the future so I can show you!

Sharmon, thank you for giving me an additional reason to love the beach. Just like many others, I have learned so much from watching you and I have found that your videos have introduced me to a nice relaxing, quiet (and solo) activity to do when I just want to isolate from the world. 😊
I so look forward to my beach walks! I've gotten into the habit of going alone and I love it. Especially now when the beaches aren't crowded and I can leisurely wander around the beach looking for treasures. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! 🌴🌊🐚
I've never seen a huge worm colony that huge! And another TT for you! And another golden! I wouldn't mind the muck at all to look at all the variety of stuff. Gotta get down there! Thanks, Sharmon! xxoo
It's not easy to get out there, but boy it is worth it! It's so hard to make it very far as I walk so slow trying to check out as many little pockets as I can. One of these days I'm going to spend the whole day there! xoxoxo
@@SWFBeachLife Well that's the day I want to come! xxoo
Absolutely Enjoyed todays video!! Thank you so much for sharing your adventures!!❤️😊
Thank you so much for coming along with me!
I enjoy the colorful scallops .
Kice is just so awesome!
It really is!
What a great trip! It was fun seeing a few things we don’t always get to see.
Awesome trip to Kice Island and the shells were amazing!!!
Kice is always so good to me!
Hi, new subscriber here. Enjoy the education about seashells and the animals that make those beaches their habitat. Thanks!
Welcome aboard! I am loving living here in Florida and sharing all the incredible places to explore. Thanks so much for watching!
Thanks again. What a haul. Omg!
Well the count down has begun! 40 days until I get to shell to my hearts content for 7 days!!! I will be recharging and relaxing before my last semester of nursing school. Thank you for my weekly dose of beachy goodness. Sea you next Sunday.
What a perfect way to reward yourself! I hope you're having fun planning for your trip down here!
Wow wow wow….. what a haul ! !
Always fun shelling with you! Great shells!
Thanks for coming to the beach with me!
Great shelling!
I like how you always pick up a giant Atlantic Cockle to hold all the tinies ☺️🏝
Those cockles make fantastic bowls for the tinies!
Fabulous finds.. do strange not in the eater.. but glad you weren't stuck in muck.. love the gaudy nautica and nutmegs.
But all was awesome!!
Sometimes you have to get in that muck to find the goodies over on Kice but it always seems worth it!
I am loving your micro shells. I'm going to be in port richey next weekend and I'm itching to get out there.
I hope you find lots of goodies while you're there!
Kice never disappoints, end of May…hmmm, that’s my time of the year 🥰
The shells were still there. It will be interesting to see if there's anything out there come August!
I just love your videos thank you for sharing your videos with everyone 😁~Evelyn
You are so welcome Evelyn! I appreciate you taking the time to watch and leave me such lovely comments! ☺️
Every time you said "little horse conch" I jokingly corrected you to my wife: "pony conch." 😆
LOL! I should just star calling them pony conchs.
I always look forward to your videos
Thanks for coming to the beach with me Janet!
I hope you do get to visit Kice one day ☺️
Hi Sharmon,
As always, Kice never disappoint.
I love tiny shells!!! They are so small but most look exactly like the big ones. (Just mini’s) lol
They are so cute! I just wish I could identify them better! Practice makes perfect so I'll keep on searching. Thanks so much for watching!
Very nice haul, as usual! I saw several that looked like you passed up. But you may have picked them up off camera.
Or I could have missed them. It happens, but I like to think that someone else gets to find the shells I miss 😃
Great video. 👍
Thank you!
Can't wait until you find a Junonia. ❤️
Me too!!
VERY NICE HAUL TODAY
Thank you 🤗
So you actually did slow down, bend down, and find some amazing little tinies and other special shells? Some day we may even see you turn over a few shells?? LOL - those shells better be up on top waiting for you!! Kice is definitely one of the best spots I have seen in any of the videos - thank you for sharing! {{shell hugs}}
Another great video. Thanks for sharing. I'm going to have to o to Kice. Are there shelling tours that go to Kice?
It's a fantastic resource and you can find it on Amazon: amzn.to/3aqkmO0
The second book I've found to be very helpful is Trish Hartmann's book, Bivalve Seashells of Florida: amzn.to/3G8ngWo also available on Amazon.
@@crystalcloud6720 ❤️
Another beautiful beach day, can’t wait until I can plan a trip down there and do some shelling and see the beaches. My wife and me are trying to plan to come down there as soon as we can decide when and which beach to stay at
There are a lot of great places to choose from down here in SWFL!
Great video
Thank you so much for watching!
have you & hubbie ever been able to camp on one of these many beaches?
shelling overload to nerd out on. 🤪
We have not but there is an island that I'd like to camp out on one of these days!
Love you. Your videos bring me so much peace and honestly, a little jealousy. Haha.
Aww - well thank you. I'm pretty darn lucky to live where I do!
I love your videos!!!
Thank you!
Please tell me there is some high school team called the Florida Fighting Conchs!
If there's not there should be! 😅
I love watching you. What is the best reference book to get? Thanks for your help!!
If you are only getting one, it's Florida's Living Beaches:amzn.to/3aqkmO0
It's a FANTASTIC resource for all things beach here in Florida. Another book that's been helpful is this one: amzn.to/3G8ngWo
I find the books that concentrate on the shells in a particular area are more helpful than random books on shells. I hope these help!
Kice is somewhere I need to visit in 25 days
Me yelling at the screen “ for the love of god woman! Pick up ALL of those Florida fighting conches! 😂😂😂😂 But you do know best! Smart to wait and not haul them around 😊
Believe me, leaving them behind is a struggle!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Yaaaaaaaaayyyyy - KICE!!!!!😁😁😁
I knoooow! I love it there!
I agree; please be careful not to impale yourself on all of those dangerous sharp branches at Kice!
I've hit my head a few times but luckily no real injuries to report!
@@SWFBeachLife It looks shiny. Wouldn't a bleached out shell lose its shine?
