I say it all the time. You're a really good professional talker. Excited about what you talk about and you know how to describe things well. Thanks for the vid!
A real shame with the Bioshock and Resident Evil collections. In a world where The Witcher III exists on the Switch with all of its DLC on a single card, it's tough to accept lower efforts by other devs/publishers.
@@billranes1214 GTA is still rough, even if the physical copy of the Switch version was released recently. Heck, the Xbox & Playstation editions have updates for the trilogy that the Switch doesn't even have yet.
True, but apparently, the larger sized Switch cartridges are priced higher, so not as much of a profit can be made on those games unless they're sold at $60, or even $70 if the 64 GB are to ever be utilized. I imagine some of the big name publishers like 2K Games, Ubisoft and Rockstar Games put that into consideration when it comes to the physical retail releases of their games/collection of games. I've also seen some game collections get converted over to code in box releases on the Switch a couple years after the physical cart versions have been sold through. Most of the new listings of games such as Bioshock, Borderlands and Assassin's Creed are digital codes only in the Switch cases from retailers such as Amazon, Target, and GameStop nowadays. Not that it's hard to find physical versions (likely with used game code downloads, unfortunately), but it definitely seems like a money saving strategy doe to the pricier format of the Nintendo Switch carts compared to the discs utilized by Sony and Microsoft.
I do enjoy finding new games at good prices. I very rarely buy games at full retail price because for me that's just too much. And most games will drop in price (except most first party Nintendo games) so I can pick them up cheaper later or 2nd hand when the hype goes down a bit. Especially since my backlog of games is gigantic, I'm in no rush for most games!
same. I haven't bought a full retail game in years! I pick up most of the big time titles for $20 a year or 2 after release and I feel like I am not missing out. Online multiplayer games are the only ones where I feel like getting in early is an advantage but I don't really play those.
The Switch is the most fun console I've ever had to collect games for, there are so many awesome games already out and it just keeps coming great releases all the time and it is a dream when it comes to being a collector as it enjoys a rich release of limited editions that quite often are really massive content wise.
Great video as usual, MJ! You’re still my video game fave on TH-cam. The Switch has suddenly become my system (I’m 43), and I love it! Please keep up the Switch/retro/indie/bargain content coming! Your word is ALWAYS gold.🤘
These are my favorite videos that you upload, MJ! Love the variety and how you can sell me on each game just by describing it. Thanks again and rock on!
I love the portability more than anything, I have been completing alot of my backlog from like 20 years ago thanks to this lovely machine all the nice ports and remakes/ HD editions etc. Plus exclusives. Thanks Nintendo.
Just picked up the Bioshock Collection and I agree. As someone who's put 12 playthroughs of one (easily a top 20 game for me), five or six playthroughs of two and two playthroughs of Infinite being able to lay in bed with the Switch in handheld mode and go through them again is an absolute joy. Kaze and the Wild Masks surprised me. Super fun and well made game. I really love collecting for the Switch. The form factor of the boxes plus them being cartridge based takes me back to me early years of gaming. Lastly I have put an absurd amount of time into Star Wars pinball. I have the flip grip and my Switch is FILLED with pinball games.
I've learned about so many cool games through your channel that I never would have ever found on my own! There's so much out there these days and it's just so nice to have things summarized and reviewed the way y'all do it! Thanks MJR!
Personally, I never understood why most gamers today buy the same game over and over again... I mean, resident evil zero n RE-1... those games don't have anything different, it's the same one that came out almost 20 years in gamecube... if I understand that some do not have the system or do not like to download the emulators... but even so I should create new missions or make more details... in my opinion it is easy money for companies...
Once again I picked up a couple of games based solely on your recommendations. Ended up getting Battle Chasers: Nightwar & John Wick Hex. Thanks as always for the great content Metal Jesus.
One thing to note about Kaze is it's a Donkey Kong Country clone. Almost all the mechanics are from DKC - bouncing on enemies, spinning through enemies, the helicopter glide, bonus stages, masks replacing the animal buddies (including one that makes you autorun, mimicking the minecart stages), collecting KAZE letters, etc. That being said, it's a very good game and absolutely worth your time.
LOVE our switch collection!! The games we have found during the last 5 years has been incredible. There are some amazing games out there we probably would have never known if it wasn't for the collection! I love seeing your all your videos.
I was done collecting games but when I got my switch I found so many good games and a lot of older and online games only are now offered on limited run got me back in !
Limited Run is one of the worst things to ever happen to me. From there I got into Super Rare, Strictly Limited, Special Reserve, iam8bit and others. Honestly the whole process has just reminded me that most good games get retail releases, and it's really rare for a good game to be consigned to low print companies. I also have a half dozen LRG games that later were released at retail as collections for a lot less, which puts paid to the lie that they have exclusive games (just look at all the Star Wars games). I still buy from them occasionally, but it's hard to support their business practices. Switch is a great console to collect for overall, but limited print companies are mostly cashing in on FOMO and the speculative nature of printing just 2000 copies of an indie game.
I paused the video right as the box art for Destroy All Humans showed up. I had hoped you would actually say something about Darksiders III. IMO it is the best of the entire series. It changed the combat / difficulty in that is a soulslike and outside of the first opening area / and last boss, it is a true 3D Metroidvania in world design. Game is seriously underrated. I want more people to play it. Love your vids MJR!
Heya metal Jesus, been watching your vids for years now, just wanna say that it makes me smile every time I see a new upload of yours pop up, genuinely just enjoy your content, sending love from the UK
I'd love to see a few more like this! Very fun and informative as someone who just recently bought their first switch and is looking to expand their gaming library!
Wow...Battlechasers...I haven't heard or seen anything from that comic book since 1998 or so... On a related note, Battlechasers was a comic book made by Joe Madureira, and he was also responsible for the art direction in Darksiders.
I'm sure you knew this, but Battle Chasers and the 1st 2 Darksiders games characters were mainly created by the same guy. His name is Joe Madureira and he created the the comic Battle Chasers and did a lot of amazing art for a lot of Marvel comics.
You all really can't expect one guy to mention the names of every single country in the world in a video regarding things like politics, religion, social issues, or video games for that matter. That be like someone from North or South America expecting someone from the UK, France, Spain, Portugal, or Germany to mention every single country's name or American State in every video that games made; only look for a "justification" to use transparent ridicule and taunting just because one person doesn't mention every single nation or State or Province in the world. Too redundant!
Excellent picks MJR. Immediately placed an order for the wonderful 101 😄 Totally missed that one coming out on the Switch. Loved it on the WiiU. Also an excellent game if you don’t have it yet, Octopath Traveler. Switching back and forth between that one and Horizon Forbidden West on the PS5 at the moment. Good times to be a gamer!
I bought it day one. Hell, I picked it up at Walmart right at midnight after work. Although this is when they were open 24/7 prior to covid. Still, i got it right away. Well worth it, too.
Great list, some pretty decent titles out. Pretty cool with Bioshock being portable. 12:04 Another great racing game is Need for Speed Rivals. Mix between hot pursuit, and burnout paradise. Online is crazy fun, and i thoroughly enjoyed it. Was a big fan of the Hot persuits and porche challenge / gran turismo back in the 90s. Burnout is pretty fun also in general. Plenty of racing / vehicle combat in Rivals.
Yes thank you for pointing out those games like the bioshock collection and resident evil collection not having the full games on the card. I didn't know there were that many games under $20 right now.
The Switch is fun to collect games for. Its library is great and there's all sorts of limited and import carts for it so you start hoarding the good stuff without even realizing it.
really need some switch games, i only have zelda i spent the first chunk of the first year playing snes games, super mario world never gets old, love to see mortal kombat trilogy
Some Switch games I've found under 20: Cris Tales, Mario + Rabbids, Killer Queen Black, Risk of Rain 2 (includes RoR 1), Katamari Reroll, Dungeon of the Endless, Mega Man 11, Owl Boy, Umihara Kawase Fresh, Lumo, SpongeBob Rehydrated, Alex Kidd DX, Teslagrad, Wild Guns Reloaded, and Collection of Mana. GameStop Preowned sales have been a big help too, got some of my cheapest games that way, you just have to be OK with some coming without the original case- but in my experience that's only been about 1/3rd of them.
Maybe in the stores in your local area, but if you check Amazon those games are priced higher than $20. We don't all live in your area. I checked each game you mentioned in this video, they are all higher on Amazon.
All the prices I pulled from GameStop. You can order from them online. Looks like most are still at the price I quoted, although it looks like Destroy All Humans went up a few buck since last week for some reason. The rest are still under $20 for pre-owned complete.
After the 3ds I'm pretty much just buying what I'm super interested in and want to play right away. After they shut down the shop and games for away there will surely be a good jailbreak solution to access software later on.

My current work schedule has me out of the house a lot now, so the switch has been such a great console to have on the go. Whether it's an AAA mega game like Metroid or something new I've never heard of like astroneer, I always have something new. I feel like the switch will be very similar to the Wii with the almost endless back catalogue of hidden gems to find for years to come. Thank you for this guide!
I just picked up a complete switch and 4 games for $160. I've bought 3 more games since then. I didn't know anything about the switch but my step son needed some quick cash for Truck Driving school. I'm pleased and impressed :)
Always buy physical. Download digital games when they're free only as you never own them and at some point they disappear when platforms evolve. This is also true for PC and platforms like steam. I own games on steam that no longer load up as haven't been updated to boot with Windows 11 etc. Always buy physical
Whoa... that Kaze game looks VERY similar to Donkey Kong Country. The way you bounce on the moving platforms, the spin after you bounce on an enemy, when the character is climbing along the rope with their ears, just... all of it. Aesthetically it looks nothing at all like DKC, but as a big fan of those games, I can IMMEDIATELY see the DNA present in Kaze. 100% these devs are Donkey Kong Country fans.
I just bought five of those kemco jRPG games on my phone they're having a sale right now I love their old school jRPG games you should do a video of all their games on the switch Nintendo switch store I love your videos and all your friends my favorite video of yours is when you took your friends to Oregon to the beach house 🏠 so when I bought that documentary on Amazon about the Pink gorilla store
things like the resident evil collection bothers me. its not worth it to buy it used as it's literally missing a game. honestly, they should just make a more expensive SKU for the larger capacity carts and fit them all in.
Awesome. I just need to buy a Nintendo switch never played one still. As I'm behind trying to keep up with my retro collection mostly focused on my Dreamcast as everything already went up for it I was glad to had bought half my games pretty cheap couple years ago
Thanks for another great video! You have some excellent picks in there. I've been pretty hard on the Switch because it's so underpowered for the current generation. But, I've found value in it as a somewhat dedicated indie gaming machine. So, now I collect indies and exclusives for the Switch and have been really enjoying it lately.
I do wish that Nintendo would release a Switch Pro to help with some performance issues. But I guess that's why I'm very excited to get the Steam Deck soon. I should be one of the first customers... so we'll see!
@@MetalJesusRocks Totally agree. I would drop money on a pre-order for a Switch Pro without hesitation. Hopefully you get your Steam Deck soon, I look forward to your review!
@@MetalJesusRocks unfortunately due to the chip/components shortage, a switch pro or 2 won't happen for at least the next year or so. I'm waiting for my steamdeck as well, but even valve has to mitigate this situation.
Good luck completing Kaze in 6 hours! That game is impossible to beat... its so frustrating!! Starts off like a DK clone then ramps up the difficulty half way through until its almost unplayable. Shame as it is super fun up until that point. There are defo some amazing games on teh Switch love it ;)
I wish Nintendo, for games like BioShock collection and resident evil origins ect. They would just got we multiple carts like how some gamecube games were in 2 discs. It would be more expensive cause of the extra cart. It i think more people would pay more to have all games on cart and not just 1 and codes for the others.
If you're a collector take a trip to Delaware. So many $20 Switch games, and tax free. People visit here for all the game stores, phone shops, and cigarette stores.
I wish they would release double-card games. For example, 1 RE game on one card and the other on a second card. Definitely more than enough room in the case for multiple game-cards
@@Thoushaltplaymore You do realize that even some PS5 games I've seen go for $80; not just $70. And people say Switch carts are expensive! What else has the industry been lying to us about!?
It's incredibly irritating that some companies have collections but force you to download part of it since they're too cheap to go for a bigger cartridge with more storage. Sure it might cost a bit more but i'd rather have that than a partially physical game/collection and i don't want digital.
I say it all the time. You're a really good professional talker. Excited about what you talk about and you know how to describe things well. Thanks for the vid!

I wouldn't trust Nintendos Digital Version, when they switch off Shops so early and fast..🤔🤔😰😰
great point
Twelve years of service is early and fast? lol
huh
12 years is early??
Destroy all humans on switch is actually$30 dollars at GameStop new and$14 dollars used
Only in North America....
Here in Brazil a switch game Costs A LOT... it's like 1/4 of our monthly wage
things like the resident evil collection bothers me. its not worth it to buy it used as it's literally missing a game. honestly, they should just make a more expensive SKU for the larger capacity carts and fit them all in.
*Still the Nostalgic Atmosphere I remember on this channel much love brother!*
I love switch.... but cheap? far from it, and if you live outside US with not access to stores like games stop, it even less of a chance.
Awesome. I just need to buy a Nintendo switch never played one still. As I'm behind trying to keep up with my retro collection mostly focused on my Dreamcast as everything already went up for it I was glad to had bought half my games pretty cheap couple years ago
I don’t own a switch but I enjoyed the video anyway because MJR is so awesome 😎 💪🏾
There are defo some amazing games on teh Switch love it ;)
I'm currently stuck at one of the bosses, yet I know how to beat it... it's just pretty tough like you said!
I wish Nintendo, for games like BioShock collection and resident evil origins ect. They would just got we multiple carts like how some gamecube games were in 2 discs. It would be more expensive cause of the extra cart. It i think more people would pay more to have all games on cart and not just 1 and codes for the others.
Good stuff Jason! People love the $20 games!
'Journey to the savage planet' is a great shout. I got it for £15 in the UK.
you always make my friday more enjoyable. keep on rockin bro!
Thanks! Will do!
I actually found a copy of Star Wars Pinball for dirt cheap in the clearance section of my local Walmart, best $2 I spent
Not about space in the box it's about cost of carts. They ain't cheap. Thats why devs with big file size games make part if it downloadable.
@@Thoushaltplaymore they could make something like premium edition or something and pump up the prize little bit to get as fully physical
@@Thoushaltplaymore You do realize that even some PS5 games I've seen go for $80; not just $70.
And people say Switch carts are expensive! What else has the industry been lying to us about!?
Omg, the Wonderful 101 is one of the best games ever made, glad to see it on this list, getting some well deserved love, keep on rocking MJR!
Switch games aren't cheap. If it's under $20, it's Shovelware.
This is just the video I wanted this week! Thanks MJ you rock. 🤘
5:10 Is there a mod to turn this to MetalJesusRocks Pinball? Just an idea.
I would LOVE that! 🤘
It's incredibly irritating that some companies have collections but force you to download part of it since they're too cheap to go for a bigger cartridge with more storage. Sure it might cost a bit more but i'd rather have that than a partially physical game/collection and i don't want digital.
