      +cannibalisticrequiem MIne was a comment about the British proprietor of the gaff even serving gravy with that particular plate of food-its not ever served that way-hope that explained-Scotch eggs are served as a summery picnic food and are thus eaten minus gravy 😀

    • @cannibalisticrequiem
      @cannibalisticrequiem 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +TheSneakyfiend My mistake then. Although to be honest, it's a British establishment founded in Los Angeles. I doubt the food will be all that authentic (unless it's owned by someone British). Perhaps that's just my old fashioned way of thinking, that if you want something authentic to a certain culture, you travel there to eat it. Barring that, you find someone from that culture that owns said establishment that makes that specific food.

    Wonder if they knew these things where also British food inventions.
    1. Lasagne, oh weird that's not Italian.
    2. Balti curries, oh not Indian.
    3. Tikka curries, again not Indian, sensing a curry theme here.
    4. Quorn aka fake meat.
    5. Sandwich, literally everything between pieces of bread, does this include burgers... shock horror....
    6. Apple pie, sorry but Europe began to colonized America in 1492, we had this pie in 1381, we even had to bring our own apple seeds to plant as the native crab apples where revoltingly sour.
    7. The chocolate bar, back in 1847.
    8. Ice cream in its modern form as we all enjoy it today. Oh also the soft scoop runny stuff you have, our ex-Prime-minister Margaret Thatcher invented that.
    9. Fish and chips but we all knew this so moving on.
    10. Pancakes, sorry Americans this one was us also, we know how much you love saying pancakes are your thing but wrong again, in fact again we had this before leaving to start the colonies, 1430.
    just a few i could go on, but why would they not try any of these especially number 10, oh wait they think that's their's don't they, they always go back to it as the thing they compare everything else to.

I Don't hear it from Americans often since British Cuisine isn't very common here other than Fish and Chips which are commonly served at Burger Joints so god knows if most people here are even aware that Fish and Chips are British. (Run on sentence I know.)
      I've seen a few dishes that British Cuisine has to offer and honestly, from the ones I've seen, they look really good. Dying to try out a few of them, especially a Beef Wellington. It's just too bad that there aren't any British pubs from where I live so I could give it a try.

    I can understand if the French, Italian, Spanish etc would insult British cuisine, but why are Americans do it. Exactly what foods has US invented that would allow them to criticize other countries cuisines?

      Soul food, Jambalaya, flavor in general. We don’t like bland food in the US.

    • @marie-mary4468

      I live in the heart of the UK, and I've never heard of scotch eggs having gravy or it being hot. Hell, it isn't something you can get in a restaurant and if it is, I find that strange. I always thought scotch egg is Scottish...not British...

    That was not a real Cornish Pasty! That was a factory made Ginsters Pasty and Ginsters is like a sware word in my home town of Cornwall because real pasties are made by hand as a machine can not crimp them. I'm just stating a fact rather than defending my country, I'm no patriot! I actually agree that our food used to be bland. I say used to as now it's all overloaded with pepper to disguise the blandness. Personaly I would rather have tasteless than heavily peppered.

      The pasty in the video just looked overheated and limp tbh

    • @kerrysmall8764
      @kerrysmall8764 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah! That's because Ginsters Pasties come ready cooked so you either have to eat them cold or reheat them and the reheating makes them limp. In Cornwall most of our bakery's and sandwich shops sell Pasties and they're all hand made and cooked on the premises and served in a paper bag straight from the oven or hot counter.

Them American pancakes are far different to the British ones, and let me tell you British pancakes are the bomb. (With lemon and sugar 🤤). Also the gravy on the scotch egg... what the actual hell? I do crave British food weekly. Love love the pies, sausages and cakes!!! The black girl seems so uneducated or not very cultured. I can eat British dishes WAY more often then any curry. Seems like the smell of curry just comes out from my pores!
