Great video. Thanks. Did you have to install a filter / delay timer to keep the camera powered for 8 seconds after you take the car out of reverse to avoid camera error on RCD330?

How do you open trunk once you get back camera like that? You still pull it up to open the trunk? Wouldn't that harm the servo in little motors inside?
Great video, with very clear instructions. When I am looking for a new head unit that will be compatible with this camera, what specifications will the head unit have so that I know the camera will work on it? I was thinking of the Alpine X308AU headunit
Ensure the specs on the camera match the headunit. In most cases the aftermarket headunits settings for cameras can be changed.

My camera only works with the car key on engine off in reverse but wont have the video with the car’s engine running and moving in reverse. Any ideas on what I might have wired wrong?

How long should a install like this roughly take?
& Are the new badges that come with the camera removeable like OEM (e.g. clips) - say if you were changing it to black or the inlay. Cheers
Depending on the car it’s roughly 2-3 hours. The badges are removable.

I see from the video you are bending/pulling some metal work and I saw some video some trimming are needed on the mk5 as the motor doesnt fit perfectly
Yes that’s correct trimming of the 3rd mounting point for the wiper motor is necessary along with bending the metal behind it to get the camera to fit right
would this work with Pioneer SPH-DA230DAB? and if so do you ship to the UK?
Quick question. Are you able to replace the badge emblem on the camera? I have a gloss back badge on the rear, so will I be able to replace the chrome badge for my black one?
In some cases yes but in most when going to an aftermarket reverse camera it won’t work.
I just installed the badge pops up when In reverse but dosnt pop up on the radio I have a kenwood dmx706s the black wire which is the power and rca I had to cut and now I think since it’s cut it doesn’t want to work properly read to the radio
Hey i installed mine works well, but when I try to unlock the car, it doesn't unlock the boot unless I use the boot release button. Any ideas on how to fix or what the issue is.
One suggestion is to prevent all that wiring to the front (longest time component, you could buy a 20
Dollar wireless transmitter/ receiver and then it will wirelessly transmit from the camera to the 330/340 head unit

Wireless is rubbish mate 😂
I think that would lag? For example when reversing it will display how close you are to hiting an object 3-5 seconds slower

Yes generally they do with a connector going straight to the pioneer unit

No need that can stay unconnected as the device has its own power cable.
Installed on MK6 GTI with rcd330. When put in reverse screen says the “rear view” camera system is not available now. Can you help please?
You need to code the rcd330 with obdeleven or vcds to enable backup camera
Check your power and reverse feed.

Question. My rear Volkswagen badge is used to open the trunk. I just press my badge and my trunk opens. If I install this, that means the trunk won’t open from the badge anymore?
Should open like normal cause it's the only entry point to the hatch

Factory mk6 camera will not work with the rcd330

anyway once installed i can pop the chrome badge out and install a black on like how I have now? or will it have to be wrapped or painted
Half the aftermarket kits have slightly different designed clips on the badges so they genuine badges won’t work on these ones. Hard to pick though without seeing it in person.

Some come without lines, near the plug behind the badge they some times have a white cord that can be cut to give the lines but you need to confirm with your supplier.
Hello, i have install same camera on MK5, my multimedia is Pioneer sph-da250dab. But i have a little problem with,. Whem i go in reverse picture dont come on the screen, I have to go in menu and click camera then i see whats happen behind me. Can you help me with this issue?

I installed a camera like this on my golf mk5 there is only one small problem, when I have the headlights the camera it is making a small interference in the image, did the same thing happen to you?
No, your wires must be close to either a ground or the switch. Might need to move your wiring
I connected the ground wire to the back cover and the positive passed along with the video cable in the fuse box where the original wires pass.

Hello, I just installed mine. The VW rear badge pop out and got the video signal as soon I open the ignition switch (with car still in parking) but retract few seconds later and then, I get a msg on screen “rear view camera not available” Any idea why this is happening? NOTE: My head unit is an RCD340. Thanks
Does it open again when you go into reverse? If not it sounds like you don’t have the blue trigger wire running to the reverse bulb wire.
You are right, after that I recheck all the connections and the blue wire was connected to the wrong wire on the reverse lamp plug. I did it the right way and it’s work fine. Thanks for the replay
My problem is that the badge pops out, stays open but I don’t get any signal. I connected the blue wire to the “white”(positive) wire in my case on the mk5 but I still don’t get any signal on the head unit… what could be the reason? Do I really need to have the car on or it’s ok as long as the ignition is ON and put it in reverse?
Mine flips open on ignition due to bulb check, is there a way to stop this? Golf mk6
On some models you can switch off cold lamp monitoring and check through coding.

Good morning, I installed the aftermarket camera and everything works fine. The problem is that every time I turn on the ignition the camera opens for a short period, due to the check lights. Is there any way to solve it? It's annoying that it opens every time I turn the car on, even if reverse gear isn't in gear. Thank you

Not compatible with the rcd510 you need to purchase an older rgb camera.
But I have an adapter from the yellow cable to the input in rcd510 . there is his place

The company I purchased mine from gave me the incorrect set up, yours has the male and female ends for the video feed. Mine has been sitting in the back unplugged but I will find a specialist here in brisbane to fix it. Such a waste of time some companies. Will never purchase from them again.
