    Great tutorial, covered almost everything. Never worked on a cars electronics or took trim off before. It took me 6 hours working methodically, but it worked. It would be great if there was a tutorial for taking the sill trim off of a MK6 Golf.

      in this case its not needed but in some cases you can connect camera power cable to it and other end goes to stereo where it has power + out for cameras so you dont need to ”borrow” power from revers light

    • @gregwatson8246
      @gregwatson8246 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The red wire on either end of the RCA video cable is just a wire that travels along the length of the cable. It can be used for different install requirements such as sending reverse light signal from rear of car to front of car for a after-market head unit that needs a reverse signal to trigger the display, (the VW factory harness provides a reverse trigger signal, so the red wire is not used), the red wire can also send Acc-12v from front of car fuse panel to rear of car to power the camera, (this guy used 12v from the rear of car like wiper motor, etc, so the red wire was not used). Simply, the little red wire is used to send power from front to rear or vice-versa. Most times it’s not used in factory setups, because the factory harness provides reverse signal to the head unit and the camera gets power from the reverse light.

      Hi, I have also the one from Fettoca (OBD Guidelines).
      If the black screen is with an error message "Camera not available" check the black video connection cable (plug/unplug again).
      If the camera flips but the image stays black, one of the two power cables for the camera is not connected to 12V properly. In my case I have 3 power cables *2 red and 1 blue. 1 is for the lock, the other two for the camera (+2 black for ground). I had both of the above mentioned Issues and could solve them with properly connecting the cables (make sure also that when the trunk is closed the reverse light is on).
      I am struggling with only one Issue now: The camera flips open on ignition (possible due to the reverse light check), after some time it closes automatically and functions as expected.

      That is exactly my problem atm.
      If I switch the cable on the badge with the one from car directly, it works after some tries, but it throws out the door, when camera flips up. When I switch to original cable and connect the car to the yellow/black cable, I can‘t open the trunk at all.
      One time I got that to work, but most tries didn‘t work out. Atm I have to open the trunk via the middle Button of my key…
      As I understand: the yellow/black cable get‘s the signal blocked, when in reverse gear, so the trunk doesn‘t „pop“.
      In my case the signal seems blocked all the time, no matter the ignition is on or off.
      Haven‘t figured out yet, how to get the opener to cooperate.

    • @Teh1LinE
      @Teh1LinE 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      any Volkswagens have a function called light self-check. When you insert the car key, the car will start the light self-check to determine which bulb is damaged. If any bulb is damaged, the dashboard will show that the car bulb is damaged. This is a function that Volkswagen has opened for driving safety considerations. In this self-test, a current will be transmitted to the reversing light bulb to judge whether the light bulb is good or bad, and at the same time, this current will activate the flip motor.

    Hi, Great video and I installed in the Golf 5. Camera power has constant 12V power and reverse wire I connected to the Head unit "reverse" wire instead of the reverse light. Work well but I have just one problem. If I switch to ignition ( dosn't matter I start the engine or not ) the logo come out like in the reverse mode ( shift is not in reverse ). After the "waiting" period go back. This is happened always after switch to ignition. Other case camera work well, stop the engine in reverse mode take out the key, camera goes back etc. I don't connect the red wire what is in the RCA connector based this label is for DVD. I also tested without ignition take out the camera fuse and put back bat in that case nothing happened. So camera goes out and back when I switch to ignition and I don't find why.
