    Greetings from Toronto ☕️
One of the best hour spent on TH-cam regarding audio and audiophillia .
Thomas’s new stuff seems to hit in the right spots ..we all like the audio spectaculars ..but trying to recreate an intimate jazz trio at a club ( Jazz at the Pawnshop for example) that’s where equipment AND the room need to work together.
    Once again thanks .
    Have a great weekend.

As someone wrote earlier on, each one of us have a deep bedded perception on what sounds, as well as feel correctly balanced to us. Logically friends and associates of mine whom are more accustomed to older recordings or amplified music, can’t really understand the beauty of which jazz or classical recordings have to offer.
I’ve taking the time to understand what has the capability of moving me to tears, if it isn’t engaging?, why bother at all?……., said time it takes to understand the sound signature of each component is vital in how the final voicing as the system collectively counts more than simply allowing oneself to be drawn into mere sound, as opposed to learning to hear deeper into the music itself, bass doesn’t not a system make, if it’s boomy, there are very few ways of restoring said balance once it’s lost. Unless one’s recordings are strictly geared towards pipe organ recordings?, I’d say please thy self above all, o4 anyone else.
Knowing which brands of tubes do what also counts, say for example while NOS Black-plate RCA | Sylvania preamp tubes in tandem offer some of the best vocal shading I’ve encountered to date, Raytheon is more geared towards low end impact, while lacking in other areas, seek out brands like Lorenz ( Germany ) | Thompson-CSF or Mazda Black-Plate ( both from France ) | NEC and TEN Kobe ( both from Japan ) and than understanding that balance versus noise is the key objective.
The extra bass impact you’re referring to by doing an array of 3 bass drivers of subs isn’t necessarily the best path to pursue……, dude in the end, you’ve to satisfy yourself above anyone else, least you have lost your own individuality. Just food for thought.

Happiness Is Easy, by Talk Talk, as well as Does Caroline Know?, and Mark Hollis self titled album is a must-own. And ideally selecting speakers which fit your room, followed by a synergistic amp which matches them tonality wise as well as offering the proper amount of current, versus raw power rating is more important.
Yet if your electronics aren’t getting said current draw ( right gauge of power cords ) then said electronics aren’t being driven or heard to their fullest potential, cabling ( especially the right flavoring) matters just as much, and never overlook the importance of the connectors themselves.

Dialing the system in is the thing. We all have our own take on good sound. I've heard some mega dollar setups some have impressed me greatly others have not. I am very interested in what can be achieved on a low to medium budget. Eq and component combinations are worth a look too. I haven't played with room treatment apart from all rhe cds and records and generally clutter innlive in lol. Us audiophiles are always seeking and will never be utterly satisfied. Great discussion guys.

@@hificave my sense is, it's less about the reviewer's opinion or experience, it's more about the product that one is reviewing. That it is for the viewers, less about the "opinion/experience" of the reviewer. Less "I" more about "It" (the product) and how it is useful for the viewer. A large part of it is how they can save time and money, and most of all--their expectation. Sometime they expect too much, and they get disappointed. Or they under-estimate the product, which they could have been more motivated about the product (therefore buy really good stuff).

@@hificave The "It" is about your experience of the product, factually, and key discoveries, less about your "personal story" or "like or dislikes" or "what's most important to me" or "what I think is most important because I know a lot." I tune in to John Darko because he goes out of his way to get the expert's opinion, and he makes apologies if he has own "opinionated" view. He is aware of his ego, but it still "leaks out." If the review is all about the reviewers experience and knowledge, then it is less about the product. No one's opinion is fully correct, neither fully wrong. Making the information useful for the viewer, I think is the key.

Shouting effect is caused by hard paper cones. You can soften them up with a very light oil dilution, i use 20/80 diesel and alcohol, and spray and dry and listen and repeat until you get the lush sound back. Old speakers or cheap full range speakers are dried out. Like old cardboard or paper tape. It needs some conditioning, but not too much.
They are factory made, to a specification fiber type weight and size, not necessarily to a sound parameter or dynamic response or resonance.
It takes a fine tuned specific diaphragm hardness or softness to get the proper sound replication.
AND use 100 percent diesel, or wd40, for the surround, and the spider. Soak the spider until it loosens then don't add unessesary mass. This is for the best result.
Responce and tone and distortion is ALL IMPROVED SIGNIFICANTLY.
Diesel and the paper cones smell like money afterwards ironically. Wd40 is probably ok too, or a more expensive higher end light oil like serious hobbyists or production shops would use.
Diesel is just the cheapest and most inert, somewhat smelly, but it does better than wd40 imo. would not use kerosene because it is not as inert as diesel.
It lubricates very well the paper.
