  • A short look at the Swiss Alpenflage combat pack. I happen to have 2 of these now, useful in their own right when applied to the right contents and situation. From Varusteleka.com in Finland for about $10 CDN.

Quick tip: I use a packable day sack as a lightweight pack. Putting one of those foam folding sit mats between the back panel and yourself makes an enormous difference to your comfort level.

I've got a jacket, hat & pants in this pattern, the jacket has a clip on soft pack. Cool looking pattern.

Awesome pack, I am ordering myself one! I already have the combat jacket with hood and many pockets and the cargo pants with suspenders , this pack will complete my great set! The entire set is made of strong heavy cotton, I love it! I am 6'1 tall so The pack will fit proper on me!

Great pack for that price! I bought Jaakaripuukko 110 from those guys. Great fixed blade for a great price as well. Thanks for the review Paul.

Maybe this Information is late for you, but l want you to know that the shoulder strap isnt original for this pack. The pack should be hooked directly to the original swiss jacket with sawn on karabiner. These straps you have shown are modified german army Bundeswehr suspenders from the load bearing System KTS, Koppel Trage System, sawn on to the swiss pack.
    Best regards from germany Torsten

Small advice : with some mid size rope u can make an adjustment by fitting the rope and the straps in that compartment with 4 rings

I have dealt with Varusteleka a few times.Great products if you can figure out the sizing on some of the military stuff. I have the jacket to match this pack, and the pack is supposed to hook to the jacket, no straps.. They were added somewhere else. I had looked at the pack but decided it was a not something i really needed. Thank you for the video, Paul

Very cool! I just ordered one for my young son. Being small yet this would actually be full size for him I think. Thanks for noting the straps needing shortening, that'll be one major thing to do.

Customizing the straps will be the big job. The three compartment soft pack has good potential, let us know how it goes!

Just gotta fix those suspenders.... They have lots of neat other stuff there though, if you are looking for some shopping therapy check them out. Shipping time is about 7 to 10 days from order to delivery for me.

Paul Buikema - What about cutting the straps about 3" from the bag, adding 2 D-rings to each side and folding the material over and stitching it? This would make them adjustable for different weight / volume loads.

    • @PaulBuikema
      @PaulBuikema  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Might do, I need a sewing machine and other stuff, that would make them more adjustable than my original idea for sure.

Nice, as they say at Varusteleka.com, the camouflage is great, the pack sucks! I think the pack is good, the straps are a pain in the butt.

Just to add, I have two of these, the crappy straps you see are aftermarket and I hate them with a passion, the original ones had hooks that would attach to the clips on the alpenflage m70 jacket and the lower straps would have a buckle that would wrap around your weight, having used the original one I can say that it is many a times better and makes sense, this strap doesnt make sense to anyone and have no idea how it got to market.

I never did figure a good way to wear this version. I have one left that I keep scrunched under the back seat of my pickup, for emergency use as needed.

These are the wrong sholder straps. These sholder straps are from the West German Bundeswehr beltsuspenders. Please watch this video: th-cam.com/video/Qe1rhAaJ7H4/w-d-xo.html
