  • I take an in-depth look at the Heusinkveld Sprint pedals, thanks to www.digital-motorsports.com who kindly loaned me a set for a month so that I could interact with the product the exact way that a buyer would. I got all the joys of unboxing right down to installation and set-up and I cover it all within 15 minutes in this video. Personally the Sprint Pedals have changed my experience so much! I'm a bit older then most and found the physical adjustability, together with the software perfect for me. I can make the brake as hard or soft as I want, and Gas pedal stroke as long or short as I want. I have an 8020 rig and can mount any place I choose. I was able to easily purchase a extension for my brake to gas to make my setup comfortable and be able to run wires out of harms way. This company is fantastic and easy to deal with.

    Pretty much all of the negatives in this review comes down to learning about how to adjust the HE Sprints. Considering how much you spend on these pedals it is very worthwhile to spend the 30-60min to read through the manual.
    I went from the original Fanatec CSR Elite load cell brake pedals to the HE Sprint. They are amazing. Once you get them comfortable (yes it may take a few goes) and learn how to adjust the software parameters to each cars needs then you will never look back. For example in iRacing the V8 Supercar is very touchy under hard braking. I found by limiting the maximum force to 87% at full brake pressure I am able to severely reduce the chance of locking brakes. Also with the throttle the car will spin the tyres easily out of slow corners so I have customised the throttle track to be slightly slower in the beginning and ramp up quicker towards full throttle. I have a file for each car used and it's as simple as choosing the file and loading it up.

    The differences: Obviously the Ultimate pedal set is more heavy duty. Larger size and stronger load cells. The main differences are in the brake pedal and the clutch pedal.
    The Ultimate clutch pedal was engineered to give a more realistic feel of a real clutch pedal and the brake pedal can be set up to require more force to activate it.
    I haven't made any adjustments to my Sprint brake pedal but the stock setting of the Sprint brake pedal is lacking when compared to my Ultimate brake pedal. I probably just need to adjust some of the "slack" out my Sprint brake pedal.
    I can feel the differences of the design in the two clutch pedals but all of this is subjective and may not make a significant difference to the average user.
    One can be very well satisfied with the Sprint pedals. The Sprint pedal set is a newer product and it has the advantage of an advanced Software set which the Ultimate pedals do not have. (No presets or saving of setting). The Ultimate set is adjusted with a program called DI View which is very limited
    So the Sprint pedal set over all is more of a good deal.

    • @LaurenceDusoswa
      @LaurenceDusoswa  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Again, amazing answer :) yeah I didn’t like the default feel of the sprints. But the sprints are easy enough to tweak and time once you’re used to them. I’m not surprised most people who own them are so happy with them

    • @franciscoquaresma1690
      @franciscoquaresma1690 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LaurenceDusoswa The simetik seems to be great, but a few things concern me, like it being too narrow from some reviews, the fact that you can only tilt the pedal plate (simlab lets you have flat but higher up) but it is cheaper, and since im in Portugal, shipping is almost not existing.
      However, i seem to prefer the simlab, its just the shipping time that is putting me off, having to wait 1 to 2 months is crazy in my opinion.

    I think the build quality and range of adjustment is excellent on the Sprints. I didn't think the braking experience was appreciably better than my CSL Elite V2's though. That isn't to say that they aren't good because I thought they were, it's just that I also think that the CSL Elite V2's brake pedal is very good and punches well above it's weight. If you need adjustability these are probably an excellent choice.

    I had mounted a pair of them on my Simetik K2 too, but the whole wheeldeck starts flexing when you push such a heavy brake. In my opinion the K2 is not strong enough for these kind of pedals. I went back to my CSL Elites because I didn't want to have to buy a completely new rig.

    • @LaurenceDusoswa
      @LaurenceDusoswa  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LaurenceDusoswa No same model with the 4 screw red piece. (old model had 2 screws) When I pressed the brake the wheeldeck would moved up/forward along with it because the two upright metal bars that hold the wheeldeck up flex. I love my Sprints, but truth be told, it was only a marginal improvement over my CSLs. I would NEVER go back to the CSLs without being forced to, but I can say the performance difference is just slight but noticeable (roughly .500 a lap for me). Surprisingly, I thought the throttle pedal was the biggest upgrade. The Fanatec pedal simply can't match the fidelity of the Sprints. For example... I don't think I was ever able to apply 5% throttle on the CSLs, but that is very possible on the Sprints. One aspect the CSLs excelled in was comfort. The CSLs were much more comfortable, at least for me. I'd assume that's mostly due to their geometry, but that's not to say the Sprints are uncomfortable, because they feel great... but I would check that box to Fanatec.
    The software is BY FAR the biggest single factor in these pedals. I'm surprised the reviewer only breezed through in that section. The adjustability there, gives these pedals an UNFAIR advantage. Also worth note, many people complain about the CSL brake's odd load cell placement. They contend the placement makes the load cell too sensitive to foot placement. I am in that camp, but I do understand every load cell pedal will do the same to some extent. The Sprints just handle that problem quite well. I've never once felt that as a problem on the Sprints, but commonly felt it on the CSLs.

    • @LaurenceDusoswa

      Wow what a great comment and amazing insight that I was not able to bring. Yes i breezed through the software side of things because my audience generally doesn't watch my reviews for 'how to' info about the products. I don't want to lose my audience by going too deep from a technical point of view. I agree that the software is amazing.
      Thank you so much for your comment and i hope that you are a subscriber. This type of insight is vital for the community and for discussion on my videos.

    My concerns are no matter how good the pedals are the limitations of the games to translate that is a setback. For example these games don't simulate the clutch properly. Its usually an on off situation which means that progressive nature of a clutch is not simulated. So what's the point jumping from a fanatec or thrustmaster load cell I wonder

    • @LaurenceDusoswa
      @LaurenceDusoswa  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah the clutch isn’t as good as it should be for most cars but it’s not a binary thing. There’s definite clutch slip in most titles but competition clutches have a very narrow bite window in real life too and are harsh and difficult to tame

    This would be class if it could be done.
    Put the software from the H.sprints onto the meca and you have probably the best set-up sub 1k the h.sprints look easy to use in software wise but harder to handle from the meca. And the meca pedals look way better IME. Still a hard choice but like you said once there calibrated that's them done. but as for these pedals they need to upgrade a few points like you said a better way to move the pedals so you don't have to keep taking them off the rig this is one point that is putting me off them but I'm sure if I was buy these I could go to a hardware store and get some bolts and modify them so I don't have to take them off my rig if I want to move them about
