  • Rough idle due to vaccum leak in upper intake plenum. Car was throwing 2 codes and SES light would come on. P0300 & P0302 engine codes. Hope this helps someone with this issue. I could not find any vids of this or much info.

Argo, Thank You. I just put new Valve covers on (what a project) and got it all put together and had engine misfiring. I also failed to get a water hose connected under the throttle body, so when I went to start it radiator fluid went everywhere on the driver side. I got that fixed, but the car was misfiring. Thinking it was an electrical short from all the fluid I went back in on the driver side today and carefully cleaned and checked everything. Then I tested and it still failed. I had the P0300 error code, so I found your video. I wrapped the sucker up in plastic and it worked!!! Then I started removing them one by one to see where the leak was. It was dark in the garage, but the moment I took off the front plastic is started stuttering. Low and behold I could hear the hissing (which I did not know to look for before) and noticed the vacuum tube was not yet connected on the front of the manifold! Problem is solved!! Thanks!!

This video help me solved my issue. I reused the plenum gasket (manual says to not do that). I retorqued with the correct sequence and the problem when away. The Check Engine Soon light never came back. Be careful though as I snapped a bolt from torqueing too hard.

Glad this helped out. my next film I should post is the coolant system air purge procedure. Air in the cooling system can wreak havoc. :(

I took the intake plenum back off and place the old Nissan gasket in the plenum. Once I got another seal I took it all back apart and replaced the Nissan factory seal. Car runs great and is currently burning rubber down the street from light to light LOL.

I went back to the factory Nissan seal. The aftermarket seal was a fail.

I have a P302 code on my 03' Z and I have swapped spark plugs and coil packs between cylinders 2 and 4 and still throwing a P302. I can not notice the difference in the car but outside the car I can hear the exhaust pop every once in awhile at idle. Already checked the bolts torque in sequence, Hoping the its this gasket. Thank you for this video.

I few months back I had a bad coil pack that developed a crack in its case. The coil pack was arching spark to the engine block and causing miss fire. If you still have the old coil packs. Change them out 1 by 1 and see if the problem goes away. If it does then you have found your culprit.

Check for any possible air leaks going into the intake manifold. Also I just had another issue with the P0302 code. Turns out that aftermarket coil pack I installed had a crack in it. Inspect the coil pack on effect cylinder for electrical arcing and cracks.

I would check coil packs and spark plugs. Then check for air leaks.

I have 06 350z and input new battery and replaced positive connector , two days later my car starts for 3 seconds and dies I hear fuel pump
Turn on but not s whining sound more of an air sound ( not sure what suppose to sound like) I push on gas pedal when starts for the 3 seconds and does nothing still dies !! !?!,?! Any advice would help so
    Much please
By the way my buddy has a code reader and no code comes up but service engine soon light is on

Hmmm. Car runs for 3 seconds then dies. This could be any number of things. As a rule of thumb. Engines operate on a simple basis. Fuel, spark and air. Check the systems that control these variables first. Any shortage in on of the 3 will result in the car not running. If it starts then dies. I would check fuel system first.
