I have on order an Ice Grey Metallic 992.2 GTS for 2025. I haven’t ever driven a 911 so I am anticipating a pleasant surprise when I get it in March 2025.
Yes they use the 992.1 turbos from the GTS but the car still has turbo lag. This turbo lag phenomenon is addressed in the 992.2 GTS with only 1 larger turbo that spins up via an electric motor.
@ArnoldWinters interesting, I didn't know that! I wish a GTS were in my budget. I'm considering getting a used 992.1 S model and hoping the lag isn't too bad. I've only driven the 992.1 base, and it was pretty amazing 👏
Lovely review Sean🎉 Personally I fell in love with the cayman as I love manual performance cars - please try get review of that With regard to the 911 we await the turbo S version to see what Porsche cooked😂 because I see some manufacturers getting scared as that thing would whip a lot of cars on quarter mile 😅
In many ways the base 992.1 Carrera was the best in the lineup before. It was the lightest (excluding special edition and GT products), it had the smallest turbos, it had the least amount of turbo lag, it let you ring it out, and despite being the cheapest still gives you nearly everything 911 you get in the other cars (LSD is a noted exception). Less really can be more. It will be interesting to see how this 99.2 base Carrera compares to the other 999.2 models.
I don’t know about that one. My car is a 992 4S and is tuned I don’t think the base Carrera would be enough for me and I do track my car and I push it pretty hard. I would just wait for the S model or go for the GTS after driving them for a six months or so you always want more power
No problem. Software is easy . It’s hit the hardware . Bigger brakes and rotors , bigger inter cooler , it’s set up for perfect performance. Bigger more readable gauges , . These hardware improvements are 20 k easily . This why it’s gone from 105-120 base sterling point . I’m Looking forward to mine
I've just completed a 5000km road trip around the Western Cape in a 991.1 Carrera S. I'm no race car driver, but I've owned fast cars and driven many km over 40 years on the roads in South Africa (think AMG Benzes, BMW M saloons and Supercharged Range Rovers.) The Carrera S is more than than any mortal can use on any real life road. If you're really talented or can afford track time, the Turbos and GT cars must be a treat, but If you want a car that will put a smile on your face every time you go to the shops, and if you're not precious about conserving mileage for resale value, a Carrera or Carrera S is as much as you'll ever need, perhaps more so, because you really need to know what you're doing in those 600, 800, 900 bhp monsters and real world sports cars will flatter, rather than embarrass you.

I love it, it looks really good 🔥Thanks Sean 👏
I had no idea that they used the old GTS turbos on the new 992.2 base!

Some feedback - PLEASE cut of the background music.
Stop complaining.
Agreed! Distracting. Especially when have the sound track of a Porsche engine.
a timeless design

base is a perfect platform to tune.

Totally disagree on the look of the 992.2 vs 992.1. The .1 looks better; especially with the Sportsdesign Package.
If it has a GTS turbos which means it's limited by software to make the GTS power😂

Bought it, way better on 19/20 wheels, i will sell the factory 20/21
The base Carrera is more car than most people will ever need.

Cheers Jake! Any nutritional advice after the illuminating exercise recommendation?
@@snautomotive yes, only .7 grams of protein of your body weight per day or you’re wasting money or hurting the kidneys.
the guy with the hair is gonna get in an accident driving on that side of the road
Guy with the hair here, do mean the left side of the road?
More tech less heritage on this new 992.2, 991 is the peak 911 .
