Throw in that other 3 OEM optionals paldao wood, a manual transmission and carbon fiber bucket seats and be sure your 992 4S won't depreciate at all. I doubt they will make another awd manual 911

My 2022 C2 was 101k plus a few options still way under the base cost today, I call that protecting my investment. after 25,000 miles I still can’t wait to drive it every day !
nice watch, base Carrera over here in the Philippines 2x the amount, my cousin just bought a 2.0 Cayman base model over here for 142k USD. It actually too expensive. I'm glad we have a 993 owned since 2000
Paid $62k out the door for my factory ordered Porsche 930 (1987). That is about $172k in 2025 dollars. This Carrera is twice the car for $50k less. My 930 had the same horsepower as a V-6 Camry and the rear end with huge whale tale (with ET come home 3rd brake light) would try to pass me in corners ;-)
I bought a 2022 Carrera in Oct of 2021 spending about 25K in options. At that price it is only about 10K more than the zero option 2025 Carerra. They are great cars, I certainly love mine having put about 47K miles on it. I just put my all season tires on it for winter. I live in the South so I just need tires that can handle the cold and rain. Mine has an APR tune, so it has 992.1 GTS power levels, which can be interesting considering it has an open diff.
I own a 2025 992.2 base for two months now. I try to find videos like this to keep the thrill of ownership as exciting as possible. Speaking about money, the insurance I’m paying as a 55 year old with no tickets or accidents in California is criminal. The price of the car has kept pace with inflation. The value of our dollar is eroding. That is the problem. In 1970 a million dollars would have purchased 20 tract homes where I live now I could buy 1 or 2. I make triple what I made 25 years ago but can’t afford any more. The way I did it was to invest in stocks and hope I outpaced inflation.
There's another thing that's odd about Porsche pricing. Usually, manufacturers sell more units of their less expensive offerings. Yet, even though the Cayman starts at almost $50,000 less, in the US Porsche sells between 2 and 3 times as many 911s as they do Caymans (Caymen?) and Boxsters combined.
Thank You Jesus for Hot Wheels - lol. Ive been following Porsches since the 996. Every iteration is more and more and more expesnive. The pre-certified cars used to be the way to go. But currently those prices are the same or more than new. Ive talked to a local P car dealer and allocations were out 18 or more months. At least I can watch cool videos like this.
Car prices have gone up and down over the years. Some BMW, Porsche and Mercedes models hit six figures back in the 1980's and then went down again later. I'm hoping history will repeat itself but fear otherwise this time because of the EV push.
The average person won't know the difference between between the various 911 models. I drive an S and love it. The only problem around here in Las Vegas is watching out for all the uninsured drivers who lack basic driving skills.
When you consider that many lesser vehicles pierce the $100k barrier now, (diesel trucks, Grand Wagoneers, etc) It’s really just inflation. I feel better with money parked in this beauty, than in just about anything else!
Man, you are 1,000,000 % correct, I have owned at least 17 Porsches, and 8 of them were 911s. I just went to the dealership today to grab the new 2025 911 (I have the 2024 718 currently), and the price tag was a whopping $157,000 (WTF…😢😅), I love it, butttttt ,man… they have me crying 😢. Car is phenomenal though…., makes me appreciate my 718 more 😂, (it’s 1/2 the debt of what I would have to spend on the new 911 😂right now…), no longer a simple person’s car..
How much of this is "Porsches are expensive" vs "all cars are expensive now," though? I was at the local Honda dealership recently (not at all the same, I get it) and a Civic Sport with a CVT (yuck) and cloth(!) seats was over $30k. I literally said to myself out loud that the car in front of me should not have cost more than $18k.
There has been the saying the best first Porsche is a used Porsche. CPO a good way to go. If you’ve been dreaming and you have the cash to buy the car then buy the car whether $75, $100, $150. If you have that cash then the actual cost of the car is the depreciation - a $150,000 car is worth $100,000 in 4-5 years, so $50,000 net. You will for sure get $50,000 of happiness from a base 911. And it beats therapy.
I agree with you, the 911 is getting more and more expensive, in proportion to the fact that it’s also getting better and better. But then, if this can be a soothing thought, how about some of the competition ? Maybe in the US one may hesitate between a 911 and a Corvette (the Corvette being the cheaper one), but in Europe the comparison shifts between a Ferrari and a 911. Suddenly the (quite) expensive 911 doesn’t seem all that expensive. Things don’t sum up in performance exclusively. A 911 isn’t going to be the fastest or most powerful car in all circumstances, but it has a character of its own which 911 fans absolutely love. The driving experience of a 911 is quite unique, just like its practicality. So the question of price, though at times worrying, becomes secondary (for those who can afford one) when you consider what the car delivers, and in this instance, the base 992.2 😎
Porsche in trying to complete with Ferrari will lose it's core consumer and lose against Ferrari anyway. It's a short term profit taking strategy that will end badly .
@ I don’t think Porsche has the slightest interest in what Ferrari does (or not). It just gets on with its own business, and as far as the 911 is concerned, it does its job very well indeed and has done so for the last 61 years. 😎
Bro, would you take that over any Corvette? I sure damn would cause I think Corvette sucks or a Lamborghini sucks or a Ferrari sucks Porsche is the baddest car out there and it kicks ass take care and merry Christmas and happy new year brother.
As an inexperienced Porsche/sports car driver, you should go for the basic 911 first anyway, preferably with all-wheel drive. If you look at the 992.2 S and GTS 2S, then you know how dangerous these cars are in inexperienced hands: Incredible power in turbo characteristics on numerically one drive axle. You have to know what you're doing here, essentially in wet conditions. This is exactly what is always forgotten! At the end of a Porsche career, you end up with the Carrera 4.
I would much rather get a GTS4.0 boxster which comes with much of all the good options, as well as a naturally aspirated 4.0L engine... than a base model 911 for the sake of telling people you drive a 911
You can get a nice 2017-2018 turbo s for a little more than the base asking price. I’ve also seen the new GTS price hovering around 240k. That’s insane. Why buy new.
Love Porsches but the demand for this things is wayyyy overblown. A base 911 is an 80,000 dollar car, not a 120,000 dollar car. 5 years ago you could get a base 991 and a used cayman together for less than the price of this (less pure) car.
You nailed it. People who buy a base care about the price. Otherwise they would get a GTS, TurboS, etc. But Porsche has now priced even the base at unobtainium money. That’s what has caused the base 911 to lose any appeal for me. It’s good. But not $150K good.
it comes down to personal taste and needs. I can afford a turbo S or whatever but I prefer the base 911 because it offers more customization and feels understated. I don’t really like drawing too much attention, yeah sure it’s always a Porsche lol. The GTs don’t appeal to me because of the stitched model name on the headrest, which can’t be removed. I’m also not a fan of the Turbo’s side air ducts, and the fact that I can’t get the dark grey satin rims I love on the Turbo leans me further toward the base model. I also prefer the spoiler you can add to the base model over the Turbo’s, which is part of the standard configuration and can’t be changed . The GT3 and RS feel too track-oriented, which is a bit silly for city driving, and I don’t like that they can’t have a sunroof. I also prefer the front and rear bumper design on the base model over the other versions. The cabriolet doesn’t interest me either-I don’t like the fabric top. Adding a spoiler to the base 911 makes it sporty and aggressive yet elegant and subtle-the perfect balance for me. And adding all the options it gets to nearly 200k, is that expensive enough for you?lol- Just because someone chooses the base model doesn’t mean they can’t afford the most expensive one.. just my opinion..
You'd be a fool to not pay more for the lift kit, sound system, and sports package options. Yes it would bump the price up $10k+ but well worth it imo.🤷🏾♂️
I had a 964 I think it was a 1992? That cost me around 89 grand So the base isn’t that out of line with inflation over the years. Also remember they hold their value.
I don't understand why cars are so expensive in Australia (i.e.taxes)., after all there is no longer a car-manufacturing industry in that country, but the government continues to milk its people dry.
Base MSRP in 1999 was about 72k. If you compound inflation at 2% for 25 years, you get to $120K, and the cars are infinitely better, so from one perspective, they're actually cheaper. Unfortunately there are more people today who will never be able to afford one because our economy is broken and 10 people have all the money
Not to mention the $5K you have to hand over just to get an allocation from the dealer. $5K that you don’t get back if you change your mind and it doesn’t even get applied to the overall cost of the vehicle should you choose to follow through and purchase one.
Ha! It is indeed. But i go back to NH every year for a guys trip with some close friends. They sometimes play golf one day, so i break off and find a MTB park. Did Cranmore one year… meh. Did Highland the next. Amazing place. Need to go back.

Hmmmm, those are not base model seats. :) Those are not base model wheels. They add about $7800.00 to the price. Those sports seats (if they're only 4way function) are another $800 or so. If they are multi way seats, they are about $3800 additional.
you do not get a model, you get a type; the model ends in the factory, it does not get to the customer but even if it did - it would be useless for the customer; model is some simplified thing of a real thing - like a drawing of a car
Don't be a Porsche Paint nerd, lol - Yes, the correct name is Slate Grey Neo. If I asked 100 people on the street they would say "Oh, nice silver Porsche!"
Thought about buying one, forgot about buying one! I bought a new 2025 Lexus LC500 Coupe instead. Cheaper, more luxurious, less maintenance costs, and reliable. I'm German/American and grew up with Porches in the family. They are actually expensive, tuned Volkswagens.
It's a great car as a base model, but it's not perfect. The price is extremely steep and it doesn't have a naturally aspirated engine. That means many enthusiasts will look to other offerings for that price instead.
😬 WOW ... The Carrera price increase must be down to their R&D costs employed in their 2025 higher end engine ... Its starts in electric, has no starter motor and has F1 batteries ... 💚 Your going to love the new Lamborgini Ures SE Hybrid on the dirt
I get your point on absolute price but not purchasing power. A base 911 adjusted for inflation is the same as it was 24 years ago. That’s how western economics work and why parents always talk about how much cheaper things were when they grew up.
It is too slow for the price. I was actually underwhelmed when i got to test drive it. The fact that i daily a Tesla M3P does not help either. It just felt too slow.
120 large for a base......automatic.....RWD 911. Totally not worth it. I could beat that car any day at The Tail of the Dragon in a WRX at 1/4 the cost.
Well, let me ask you, if you go up to the next level for a supercar, you took $350,000, for a Ferrari, which of temperamental, half a million for a McLaren,, and Porsche you could drive every day, compare apples to oranges 911 is better value
Don’t get the hype of 911’s. Just a glorified beetle. A toyota supra for $50k seems like a better value with more or less similar power. Sure, there is some status quo with Porsche but not at the same level of lambo or a ferrari. Better off with a Gallardo for $90k lol

I would much rather get a GTS4.0 boxster which comes with much of all the good options, as well as a naturally aspirated 4.0L engine... than a base model 911 for the sake of telling people you drive a 911
Cool, now I want one even more.
I own a 2020 911 bought it new love the car added a few options out the door 110k today the same car 140k
Could not agree more. Porsche has lost the plot.
you're still stuck in the last decade. A BMW M4 competition is 6 figures driving off the lot. Supercars are not $200k anymore, but 330+K
That cost me around 89 grand
So the base isn’t that out of line with inflation over the years.
Also remember they hold their value.
Try buying one in Australia where the government imposes a luxury car tax and the price of the base car starts around $330,000.
leave aUsTrALiA then😆🤣🤣🤣
I don't understand why cars are so expensive in Australia (i.e.taxes)., after all there is no longer a car-manufacturing industry in that country, but the government continues to milk its people dry.
Just like this song, take the long way home
I was number 911 on the "likes" - feels like destiny - gonna get'er
I believe in you
Base MSRP in 1999 was about 72k.
Shout out to highland bike park… that’s quite a distance from where you’re driving the 911!
Ha!
It is indeed. But i go back to NH every year for a guys trip with some close friends. They sometimes play golf one day, so i break off and find a MTB park.
Did Cranmore one year… meh.
Did Highland the next. Amazing place. Need to go back.
It needs a 400hp rating to align with base Taycan. Should use a 4.0L out of the 718 GTS.
It's actually"good enough for referral world driving. Has most of the wanted AG's necessary features... It just can't be has work rear wheel steering.. which is nice to have cut not NECESSARY... How baby 6 don't have it today??"
That's insane I got my new base red 911 with some options 2013 sticker was 84 they took 81k offer. New on show room. Out the door on his new one 148k that insane zo6 112 123 out the door new
Hmmmm, those are not base model seats. :)
Those are not base model wheels. They add about $7800.00 to the price.
Those sports seats (if they're only 4way function) are another $800 or so. If they are multi way seats, they are about $3800 additional.
The perfect base Carrera would be a no frills car with a manual transmission
I’m pretty sure the base doesn’t come in manual anymore. You’d have to go with a Carrera T
@ I said would be. The price for that T is over the top for what it is
I know when we learned in Economics at University that equal Products get by time cheaper as a consequence of scaling production😂😂
I priced one out, driver spec, nothing too fancy, easily 160k plus.
you do not get a model, you get a type; the model ends in the factory, it does not get to the customer but even if it did - it would be useless for the customer; model is some simplified thing of a real thing - like a drawing of a car
Oh my! base Carrera so cheap in US! It's double the price here!$120,000!It's like a free give...
I was complaining like this 16 years ago when I bought by 2009 Porsche base Carrera for $75,000 😂
pls review M4 xdrive and compare to base 911 maybe
I am actually in the M4 rwd manual this week haha (ruby star neo paint on it too!)
@@TheHooniverse Great! maybe later xdrive some say xdrive and auto suit the car better
uhmm.. try Turkiye where taxes are so ridiculous the base Carrera costs about 500k USD
Not silver, grey.
Don't be a Porsche Paint nerd, lol - Yes, the correct name is Slate Grey Neo. If I asked 100 people on the street they would say "Oh, nice silver Porsche!"
It’s 185.000$ in Austria
Knowing the S is probably just an engine map at this point, I don't see the point in not making this have, say 430-450 hp.
What are you doin'? I thougth you are Mercedes fan. Is the W123ombat done?
way to expensive for what it offers, especially in the US, even in Europe you have the M, RS or AMG at half the price
A brand new poverty spec 911 in the UK is £98, 800 = US $124,507.76
I waited until the kids were out of college to get my 2024 Carerra S.
Just looked at one that was optioned out to 158k.😢
And that price doesn’t include the ADM that ranges from $20k and up.
then you pony up $40-50K in options and move up to the S or 4S and shit starts to get real FAST!
Porsche . König der Landstraße .
Base 911s fetch base commissions!
I still like the Cayman more.
Caymans are awesome. I get it.
But the 911 is much more car. Not disagreeing with you, mind you…
Can see you contemplating cashing in that 529…
Jump on Toro and rent one for the weekend once a month and get your fix.
Porsche greed will come home to roost
It's a lot of money but it's also a lot of car. Unfortunately, until Porsche gives a better warranty, I won't be buying one.
*at that starting price you might as well buy a Porsche 718 GTS 4.0*
No
718 GT4 more near to it
Thought about buying one, forgot about buying one!
Thats only one bitcoin 🎉😂
Your hands seem a little small Jeff.
120k is like the price of an C class in indonesia
😬 WOW ... The Carrera price increase must be down to their R&D costs employed in their 2025 higher end engine ... Its starts in electric, has no starter motor and has F1 batteries ... 💚 Your going to love the new Lamborgini Ures SE Hybrid on the dirt
Europe (belgium)135660€ base model + 20000€ options =155660€ 😢
I get your point on absolute price but not purchasing power. A base 911 adjusted for inflation is the same as it was 24 years ago. That’s how western economics work and why parents always talk about how much cheaper things were when they grew up.
Price has gotten ridiculous and no manual option.
Its not cheap and its not worth it.
The car is out of this world but you don't even get a sliding roof for 150 large. 👎
❤🔥
inflation is crazy
But, but, the engine is in the wrong spot.
It is too slow for the price. I was actually underwhelmed when i got to test drive it. The fact that i daily a Tesla M3P does not help either. It just felt too slow.
Con basicos asi yo tambien se. Lo proximo un Ferrari basico.😂
I’m glad the prices are what they are it keeps the prestige of the car and the riff raff away and I’ve owned Porsches all my adult life
I bet you don’t have a lot of friends
Another reason I don’t want to own a Porsche. The mindset of the typical owner.
It’s a complete bore to drive!
I own an AMG GTc and could not wait to get out of my 911 base test drive. Yawn.
Buy used, much more reasonable and most of them have not been hooned.
Get a 992.1 911 T instead... way better
No kidding…..
Inflation 😂 70000 was base long time ago
