The first time I checked my chain the setscrew were loose as well. Also the bolt that holds the k-connect coupling to the chain drive shaft fell out and I had to source a new one. Check all the set screws on the auger shaft end bearings too! Lot's of maintenance to keep them going. good video!
I wonder if these are manufactured by Kubota or someone else. I had the same issue with the long grade 5 bolt missing that holds the k coupler to the bottom sprocket. Only thing holding it on was the key way!
Thanks for the video! Very helpful. (I would suggest mentioning the grease nipples on the driveline guard of the K-connect unit. This my sixth winter on my BX2816 and I just found out about these a couple of days ago!) 🙃
I had the same thing happen to me and in addition the upper sprocket was also sliding loose on the shaft And.becuse the TWO original allen setscrews were very short I put longer ones in ( tractor supply store ) and they have been staying tight for me . enjoyed watching your video thanks mike !
I had the same problem with my BX2750D snowblower, which resulted in a broken chain. Also the keyway split in two, since it was no longer held in place by the set screw. After replacing the chain and the keyway, I put the set screws back in place, but this time, I added a second one above the first ones in addition to a few drops of Loctite.
Anthony, thanks for reaching out. The tire chains for the tractor are really good quality even the bungy’s and clips are well made. They are in fact Kubota chains ordered from the dealer when I purchased the tractor. So I’d reach out to your closest dealer to get some. What I didn’t know is they said you can only put chains on the back wheels and you need to install wheel spacers as well.
@@maintenancewithmike Thanks Mike. I'll check with them. I heard that only rear wheels should have the chains but didn't hear anything about needing spacers. I wasn't planning on doing that.
@@anthonyfrattalone9937 They are easy to put on, they just slide over the rear wheel studs then give you new studs on the spacer to attach the wheel. I think it’s to give proper clearance for the hydraulic lines and such near the rear wheels. As a bonus the tractor will be more stable with the spacer, wider foot print. Good luck and let me know how you make out. Cheers
This was exactly what I needed this am during a blizzard in NH when my chain slipped off...thank you so much
You’re very welcome Bob! Please share with your friends as I continue to grow my channel. Cheers, Mike.
Great video Mike!👍🏻
Thanks for watching James!

Yes your correct there are grease nipples on the K connect side. Thanks for the comment

What the heck eh! Is this happening at the PDI stage or from the manufacturer?

where did you get the chains? How do I know which size I need? Thanks.
