    Good day eh!!! Nice job to stick with it and drain those gear boxes. It takes forever to drain and fill them eh and I was pretty impressed that you did box gear boxes and didn't spill any oil!!! Man I have never been able to accomplish that!! I tip my hat to you my friend!!! Take care and Happy New Year!!!

      No kidding! I was frightened at how tight it was. I'm wondering if it was a combination of being too tight, frozen and thread locker...

    Hi Ross RCAF Polar Express Dave, sent me here :)
    May I offer you two tips on pouring oil, gear oil etc. from a large container like you have there.
    1. To avoid spilling down over that larger jug, hold it so that the pouring opening is at 12 o:clock ( or as near to that as possible ) and always use a funnel. This pouring position will allow air to enter the container and let the oil pour out smoothly, without that 'glug glug' that nearly always results in a spilled oil mess.
    2. Buy yourself a 1 litre / 1 quart bottle of gear oil, the one with a narrow pouring spout supplied with it. Then when you've used up that oil, keep the smaller bottle to re-fill from the larger one this will make pouring oils much easier the next time.
    There is usually never any need to use sealing 'silicone' on those 'pipe threaded plugs' As you may know, pipe threads are a taper and as such will seal themselves into the threaded hole rather well.
    Most factories/manufacturers use this to protect themselves from selling 'leaking' equipment. We used to call this practice a C Y A method. ( C Y A / cover your a#@* ! ) LOL.

      Thank you very much for stopping by, watching my channel! David is a great guy. Funny thing about your point number 1 is I always do that for windshield washer fluid.. but never thought to do it for oil! Haha. Great tip! And I will definitely get another smaller jug. And more funnels for sure :) these are super helpful. It's a pleasure to chat with you and thank you for sharing your tips.

      @@RossOnTheLand Oh my, I just noticed that I had made an error in your first name Ross, I have just corrected that silly error,.... darn spell check! ( How many times have I said that I wonder! LOL )
      Those tips come from some 44 years or so in the construction equipment business, renting, selling and servicing it.
      I'm happy that you didn't take this as coming from a 'smart ass;' :) I was told about these and have used them so I know they work. I will subscribe to your Channel now, and see what other goodies you may come up with.

    Hi Ross ! Wowie, that was a pretty intense operation there. I think you should change your channel name to "Doctor Kubota" haha ! I will NOT be attempting that in the winter. That job is perfect for a nice August day, about 24 degrees C. Oil will flow easier, ( it will be warmer ) my fingers won't freeze off etc. Yeah, looks like a job you really need to think out beforehand to make sure you have all the tools necessary. Thanks so much for doing it Ross !! 🎅

    is that an electric actuator on the chute ?

    • @RossOnTheLand
      @RossOnTheLand  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello! Yes it is an electric chute deflector. It's basically a car's window motor. It was installed OEM by my dealer and and has a 2 way momentary switch in a box on the main control stock. Works great because I can rotate and deflect in the same motion as opposed to having to use a hydraulic 3rd function. Thanks for watching and have a good day

    Great job, I did not think the allen screw on the front was going to come out. Are they metric fixings on the tractor and attachments?

    • @RossOnTheLand
      @RossOnTheLand  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well by my frustration level indicator.. I think they are mixed metric and imperial on the back side... I didn't have a single allen wrench that would fit for the back... I had to dig around in my toolbox to find whatever the 2 odd sizes they were... That front one scared me.. thought it was going to strip out for sure. Thanks for watching.
