what year and make is the engine out of?

I have an 06 TC. Do you recommend replacing both chains with the newer style or is it ok to reuse the OEM?

Of course if there’s signs of wear and tear on the chain, you would want to replace it. But moreover, if you replace your gear with these tighter gears, than I would recommend you replace it. The teeth on the gears wear into the chain and when you change out the gears, they’re going to wear quicker and harsher to find their new groves.
