  • The difference between conversion camshafts and conversion camplates can be a very tricky subject, and can easily create confusion especially when faced with purchasing these components for the first time. We're here to help clear up some of this confusion and assist in not only being able to purchase these parts with confidence, but also having a full grasp on what exactly both of these sets of components can do for your Harley Davidson.

I'm doing this project right now and have an SE255 cam I am thinking of grinding the inner journal to suit the smaller bearing so this video is perfect... might even go the Fueling plate and pump!

You answered all my questions. Call you Monday morning. I received a #7010 oil pump in my conversion kit and the box had #7030 on it. The pump won't bolt to camplate. Very irritating.

The more videos I watch the more questions I have went out and bought everything based on price (trying to save money) but for a 2010 road glide shouldn't have any problems I hope

Any estimate on the normal lifespan of a replaceable timken bearing vs service life on the conversion plate? I imagine for ultra high mileage riders all of these things are wear items with a lifespan of X vs mere mortals who will be retired from riding or pushing up daisies before replacement would be needed. Kinda along the lines of hydraulic plates vs gear driven in TCs assuming you are within spec.

With all the different external factors coming into play its hard to give a direct estimate for lifespan of these components. They are built with riders in mind and expected to be pushed as hard as possible and still hold true, granted things like service intervals, weather conditions, and rider style all play into wear and tear on these parts. Feel free to reach out to the shop for more specifics tailored to your set up and we will be able to get you some more specifics

I have a 2001 tc88 that has a screaming eagle cam plate upgrade. i want to put a set of cams in it and a new oil pump. my question is does it use the 99 style pump and cams or 07 later pump?

Not sure if you pulled the timing cover but most people who went to the trouble of putting the cam support plate in also did the oil pump

@@aaronbrooks7106 Yeah its all been up graded but it was 50 plus k miles ago. so i was going to put a new oil pump in it anyway. I did find out that my particular cam plate uses a 99 style pump. I ended up swapping it all for a fueling kit with cams
