People need to ALWAYS listen to their guides and always remain calm and NO sudden movements nor screams! This is a beautiful elephant and he is pushing his authority making sure those bipeds in their rolling boxes respect him. 😃💙
This guide is very wise. He mentioned the do's and dont's of being on a safari guided tour. These are huge wild animals, best to remain fairly quiet, and not touch if an elephant gets close enough. Loved this video... thank you for sharing it.
Really cool to see the bull's behaviour up close like that and how he reacts to noise, words and movement. I really respect the boundary the guide's place. Terrific video! I love the story series!

We have had some heart pounding encounters on safaris in the Lower Zambezi, but generally the drives and walks are quite uneventful. In camp, however, we have had a cow and calf that literally charged EVERYONE and some regular, massive bulls who can be very chilled but at times unnerving with how they seem to just appear out of thin air and can be curious enough to get really close to us ! But all in all, the 'resident' bulls are awesome, some a bit naughty and some generally silly like 6 ton puppies !

@Gabby Mouse We do not have the right to encroach on the territory of endangered species. Elephant numbers have plummeted due to one problem: Humans. We have a right to live on the earth, we don't have a right to plunder it. We don't have a right to remove animals from, or to destroy their habitat or food sources. We don't have a right to turn their habitat into a theme park or safari park. We don't have a right to hunt, kill, poach, exploit or wear animals
Behavioral etiquette is something that elephants do normally in groups, so this kind of "training" by the guides probably works a treat when done consistently.
winterprism Yes, this bull is still around. The new female guide calls him Darryl and he's been a menace around the housing for the guests. But she loves him and says he obeys her.
Have watched several SafariLive drives and don't remember this encounter with the ellie. Usually the guides give them space but the ellie was bent on approaching and pushing the rover, it was interesting watching the ellie push his bounds
Brazil..... alguém me explica , por favor porque nas cidades os carros são fechados e até blindados, agora onde tem leões, e outros animais perigosos, os carros são totalmente abertos?

random thought but I have a strong gut feeling that the language in which the african elephants think in is this electric, metallic pulsating fast tempo sounds.
No he's not. He's not trying to dominate as such, or be particularly aggressive. He's just curious and is taking it a bit too far for anyone's safety, his own included.
Does this Ellie bull have a name. He should have a name by now given how 'notorious' he is with these encounters, and his distinctive look (pierced ear, trunk over his tusk)
These Safari guides are much more responsible than some I've seen on TH-cam. They don't try to make these elephants members of a petting zoo. They have a healthy fear and respect for the elephants.
A) it is the Humans/Vehicles that are crossing the ELEPHANTS' personal space bondaries. B) He has an eyesight issue and cannot tell what you are -- spray the trucks with some stinky foriegn smelling repellant, to warn him off.

Probably not even that, I think that he was just curious what the car was

so useful and informative to be able to repell curious elephants here in stockholm for the foreseeable time to come
Fascinating glimpse of elephant behavior and great commentary by the guides.
Excellent, excellent video & commentary. Thank you for sharing and bringing us out there with you!
This bull has provided us with quite a few exciting yet scary encounters! Thanks for putting this video together - well done!

There’s a video (WE) which that happened & the side of the car was sliced open like a can of sardines- with the tusks
Fantastic footage, very informative.

I don't mean to be a wuss but I'd rather not get in an argument with Mr. Elephant...
Bruce M. That's actually very smart
True 👍
Nothing wuss about that.
I would call that basic survival instinct.
No wussing around here... I’d call it a good judgment call😁

Great video compilation of Darryl.

What is the white thing on his eye around the 1.38 point
Accumulation of debris, dust... much like humans
Darryl can be a holy terror. He seems to have a thing for jeeps.
You don't have a dangerous elephant. Remember that YOU are the invaders into HIS space. Just back out and let him be in his rightful kingdom.
Actually neither is an "invader." This is Africa, birthplace of the human species. We need to coexist.
Exactly he was softly nudging the cart checking it out that’s not hostile it would just flip it and stomp you to death

What etiquettes to teach the wild elephant?
How did he get that hole in his ear?

I was petrified on a game drive when an elephant came up and sniffed my hair. Others thought it funny, but I didn’t for the very same reasons you gave

Yes, that's him. I had read that he was seen recently on another reserve so maybe he'll be back at Djuma soon.
I can't help but feel a bit jealous of his... Endowment...
I would be terrified in that small open vehicle!
What is the hole in his left ear from? Doubt he is going for plugs😅🤣
Why does he have a gage in his ear?
Is his male appendage always so visible or is that just when he is in must?
Must for sure. Ears wet, odd gait, etc
When it gets to waving a finger at him, he's crossed the line in the sand
He was in musth. They go crazy when they are in musth.
If you had food can you give them food?
That ellie seems recognizable enough he oughta have a name.
I think this is the Ellie that Tayla calls Daryl.
why does the elephant have a hole in its ear?
