I absolutely love the sound of the aventador's starter, it runs long enough to build anticipation but not so long that it sounds weak or malfunctioning. It's as if they've engineered every single part of the aventador to be exciting and dramatic !

It probably does that to build some oil pressure before it starts, so the anticipation is an unintended, but pleasant side effect.

I love the sound of any starter motor cause that means the battery is good and that the starter actually works lol
I am so happy to see that the iconic Mopar starter was included in this list!
There are two distinct Mopar starter sounds- the old gear reduction one and the later mini starter. I own both and love both. Many owners replace the old starters (the last start up with the 72-74 Charger is the best example of the gear reduction whine) with the newer ones found on the Magnum V8s because they are all cross compatible, including the V6 and Slant 6

@@Joyboy13257 did any U.S. slants have the gear reduction starters from factory? Here in Aussie, all slants had direct drive starters, whereas our Hemi sixes used the same geared starter as the 318 etc. A previous owner put a slant starter on my 78 valiant hemi- the 265 was just too big for it and it melted 3 months later.

If the starter motor sounds terrible, it taints the whole vehicle. Who would want to drive something that sounds like a lawn mower hitting a sprinkler head every they start the thing.

I love the sound of a starter, sometimes i like engine that took quite some time to start like maybe 2-4 seconds before the engine fires, it just make me smile, BIG SMILES, like i feel super happy and satisfied at my heart. I thought that I was wierd liking the sound of starters, i always went dead silent everytime I'm going to start my engine.

Old Honda starters should be included. They have nice high speed bearing sound, like in 1990s CB Accord, 80s Preludes, 80s Accord, 80s Civic

When I was in college, I had a basic 98 Camaro V6. When the starter went, my father knew a guy who repaired starters and he just gave me a rebuilt one off his shelf. He said, "It didn't come in a Camaro, but it'll work on a 3.8L Chevy". All I knew is it had no labels on it and was painted a flat baby blue. No crap, it sounded like a diesel truck every single time it fired up and I absolutely loved it

Old caterpillar dozers that actually have a starter “motor”, I used to pull start the starter motor and then engage the engine to start it on my stepfather’s old D6 😁

@@Deepwaterjew He thinks about pony starter, where it was small gasoline single or double cylinder 2 stroke or 4 stroke engine mounted on big diesel. It was easy start it by pull starter by hand without battery in very cold conditions -40 (Siberia). Electric engine spins flywheel very fast and starter clutch connect it to engine vie gears after it spins fast. It's funny, i have the same taste in sound BUT I like to release the starter just at that right moment where the engine catches ignition and the starter winds down. It's like both the starter and engine disengages with no stress to the other especially one crank engines that fire in one to one and a half turns.

I like them all but the Mazda 4 rotor... the _scream when it fires_ ... no words! My own favorite is my 1978 Suzuki GS1000 in it's final version of my modifications and tune.. it _always_ fires "before" one crankshaft revolution and quickly screams up then down, exactly like the Mazda, incredible!
PS, I'm not bragging, I didn't make it that way, it's just the final combination of parts & tune, a lucky coincidence!

Before I even hear the first one, an old Mopar starter motor is one of a kind with its high-pitched whine.
Although...perhaps the best sounding starter is a gas pony motor on an old Caterpillar dozer.

The detroit diesel 671 is my favorite engine. When i was studying at university, I had a part time job at the airport and got to push back aircraft with the big tugs. One of them had a 671 DD and I loved driving it just for the noise.

I think my favorite will always be the nostalgia of the sound of a mid to late 90s Toyota Tacoma starting up. Growing up around one it's just nostalgic to me

I am so happy you included the old school low torque Mopar starters. Haven't seen a movie made in the 60's, 70's, or 80's that that sound hasn't been the dubbed in sound for any car starting.
I read that the interceptor falcon hardtop in mad max had all the cool idling/ low revving sounds dubbed in from a Hemi V8. Sucked in, Ford fans- your dreams of getting your replica mad max car to sound that good are crushed!

Plane engine starter motors in general sound badass. My dad has a 1975 Piper Cherokee Warrior with a 4.9L flat 4 and it sounds awesome when you start it.

Listening to an old Caterpillar D6 dozer on startup is magic. At least to me. My dad was a heavy machinery operator in the 80s and 90s so that old D6 he usually operated always has a special significance to me.

I searched for starter motor sounds and found this gem lol my personal favorites are the Aventador, S65/600 and Veyron/Chiron, they all have high torque starter motors
I heard a Mack semi start 40 years ago with an air starter. Wow as that cool sounding! The semi in the movie Mad Max had an air starter. Thanks for all the great sounds.

A good starter motor sound is nothing to sneeze at. When it came time to replace the starter in my Fiero, I went with one for a 2002 Grand Am. Direct fit. And now it sounds amazing when it starts.
Some people might say you are scraping the bottom of the barrel, but imo the detail you go into and the amount of effort you put in could make any topic fascinating.
I love the sounds off old cars cranking over, especially carb’d Mopars and 60’s Fords!
