For those that don't want to mess with their existing usb drive: just get a xGB stick, format with FAT32/exFAT, create a folder Boombox, copy files to it without spaces, stick it in the car and profit.
I recently took delivery on my Tesla Model Y LR on October 28,2022. Many thanks for your help and sharing your knowledge on setting up my Tesla USB Data system. The (3) partition system is the Perfect setup. Using the knowledge you so willingly shared in this video I have all my 44 Audio CD's ripped in WAV format and stored in my Music partition. Also my TeslaCam partition is working great, and I have 5 of my Audio Files stored in my BoomBox partition sub folder that allows me to play them when I have the Tesla in PARK. In my MUSIC partition I have all the music grouped in one main folder and each of the albums has it's on separate folder which is named appropriately. I also made another folder named Favorites that is included in the same folder as all of the 44 album folders that contains all my favorite songs from all of my 44 Audio CD's. I have it setup to Random Play the songs from that folder or any of the 44 Audio CD folders. Also, I have plenty of room on my 256 GIG SanDisk High Endurance Card to add any additional CD's when needed. I can also add to, or remove any of the song files, on my favorites folder. The SanDisk card was the best $33.00 I have ever spent as it works perfectly for this application. I am now a happy camper! Here is wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We got Santa back with the reindeer‘s and jingle bells. I have 2020.48.26 on my model 3 AWD 2018 June. Thy are listening to you. May not have the outside speaker but Santa is back.
if my tesla doesnt recognize the file i downloaded on the USB what should i do? i plug it into the car, go to boombox and there is nothing else available other than factor sounds
Do you know if we can combine music and the LightShow folder on the same partition and or single drive? If not maybe we need 3 partitions. TeslaCam, LightShow, MP3/WAV music (also, maybe a 4th for BoomBox?)

Great video. However I hit a road bump. Boombox and Music drives both working perfectly, but TeslaCam does not work and shows an error message. Any recommended troubleshooting method? I am using a 1TB MicroSD card in a USB adapter (as an USB Drive) on a 2022 Model Y.

Strange. Are you using the USB the Tesla came with? Regardless it should work with 3 partitions. Make sure you have the teslacam folder

Sounds are in the music USB, but not on my boombox.. what did I wrong..

I personally like keeping things separate. Just kind of a cleaner system imo. But you could probably just add the Boombox folder to music.

How long does a USB drive last for the Dashcam function? Writing data continuously leads to a lot of wear and tear on any solid state media.

The Boombox folder has to be in a separate partition.

Had to recently swap drives. So it's resyncing data
