    Five years ago you gave a generous gift to Tesla owners everywhere with this video. This gift truly keeps on giving, Terry. Thank you!!!

    Thank you so much for the step by step guidance on formatting the usb drive. I tried doing this for my 2023 Tesla Y and it worked for Music, but not for Dashcam. Later just changed the Teslacam partition to ExFAT and now both work perfectly fine

    Thank you for taking the time to create this video. nearly 2 years later, I had to reformat my SD card (I went with SanDisk High Endurance 128GB SD card...supposed to have a higher re-write/overwrite lifespan) Cheers!

    Very good I don’t think it was too long, Just the right amount of time for the great information. Only thing I had trouble with was naming the folders, they had to be in all caps or it would only make a file T and M. Thanks

    Hey Terry. I did this, and it totally worked... but then my car updated to 2019.40.50.7 and I not only no longer see a USB music option, but I also do not see the little red light saying that my dashcam or sentry mode is working. Can someone confirm that this method still works with the current software build?

    Good Video. Told us everything we needed to know. One recommendation, it could be a lot shorter. Thanks for helping getting this to work - I had thought I needed to download third party software to format my USB as Fat32 and you clearly explained how to do it with Disk Utility. I appreciate your help!

    Better yet you can create multiple folders in the Music partition and put different genres or what ever way you want to classify your songs into the folders. The names of the folders will show up on your Tesla screen, just select the one you want and the songs in that folder will be listed.

    Question for all who have done this formatting: I created my flash drive as instructed and mostly works ok. However, at certain points during listening, music stops playing and re-appears several seconds later in tempo like the music just dropped out.

    Do you know if we can combine music and the LightShow folder on the same partition and or single drive? If not maybe we need 3 partitions. TeslaCam, LightShow, MP3/WAV music

    • @TerryLeeWhite

      It works fine with 3 partitions.

    • @JazJonFL

      @@TerryLeeWhite what about boombox. Does that mean 4 partitions are needed? Or can we combine boombox with any of the other three talked about previously here.

    • @TerryLeeWhite
      @TerryLeeWhite  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JazJonFL yes that would mean 4 partitions.

    • @JazJonFL
      @JazJonFL 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TerryLeeWhite Now that it’s all clear, I think I’d rather have 1 physical drive for TeslaCam and then 3 partitions on a second physical drive for everything else. 4-port usb hub. Drive, Drive, game controller 1 and 2

    I have this exact SanDisk drive model and I was able to format it and get it working on my Tesla Model 3. I used a Chromebook to format it. Couldn't get it to work when I formatted it FAT32 on Windows, do not know why. However, I get messages from the car saying it isn't working and I have to unplug and plug it back in to get it to work again. A short time later it will stop working again. So I can't recommend this drive.

    This is so helpful. Thanks. I have a question about sandisk ixpand usb flash drive. After making two partitions in ixpand, my iPhone 11 can't read ixpand usb flash drive. Through the app named 'ixpand drive' it should be open but it's not. Before splitting the space of ixpand, the connection between iPhone 11 and ixpand was good. Your way is only for normal usb flash drives? not for ixpand?

    • @TerryLeeWhite
      @TerryLeeWhite  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      DONGKI CHO unfortunately the IXpand doesn’t work with multiple partitions.
