- Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao and partner agencies on Monday announced promising changes to the troubled Hegenberger corridor, after several major businesses and restaurants said they would shut down because of crime.

Statistics show crime is decreasing because people stopped calling the police, they don't show up
Many of us have not called for several years. Any stats given by this mayor is like off by 30 - 50% if not more.

I am a progressive, but Sheng Thao's personal goal of not having a Police Chief for one year and her legalization of crime is her shocking hidden agenda. She is down for the 'revolution', but she should have been honest about it.

We had the best tool to prevent these crimes already in place: Oakland PD. The social justice apologists, in the community and in office, hamstrung them. The town's "leadership" has to rely on state resources now, including CHP, to fill in the vacuum they themselves created.

Did I hear crime has decreased since mid March? Isn't this March 18th? This is mid March. So they are playing with the data by saying crime decreased, as maybe it has the past week or so. The Mayor is fighting for her job right now. Why not continue to do this rather than say kind as needed with the CHP?

Over in Pinole, someone purposely left their car window down so their car wouldn't be broken into. The steering wheel was clubbed so the car couldn't be stolen. The bad guys or women popped the trunk anyway and not finding anything, went back into the driver's seat and left a deuce.

Oakland's Home Depot has 2 OPD police cars, either walking in the store or patrolling the parking lot to prevent crime.
