My personal reason: Not Turning Roman Heel After Near-Killing Braun How did Roman, after losing fairly and still destroying Braun inside the ambulance by driving into the wall, after Braun stepped out and limped all bloody, NEVER TURN HEEL? That’s not exactly something even CENA would do.
The funny thing is Roman said he wanted to be a heel from the very beginning. He was the one who was supposed to turn in 2014 and Rollins was supposed the babyface. Hopefully, we can get Roman vs The Rock at one of the Wrestlemanias.
2014 Rollins would've been a s h i t face. Had they done the same thing they're doing with KO rn to Dean (keeps losing but looks hella good in the process), then he would've been your top guy. Everyone was behind him so it definitely wouldn't have been outside the realm of possibility.

I felt this. The Tribal Chief gimmick is the best thing going right now in WWE and if Roman does have that feud with Edge and it deals with family, the feud and match are gonna be marvelous.
Id like to see Edge v Roman but im sure a lot of the talent already on the roster must feel like they've been slapped in the face from Edges return last year! Edge is great wrestler but hes older and injury prone This comeback could be derailed spectacularly if Edge suffers serious injury on his rise to the top and i wouldn't like to see Edge go through that again or his family!
If they work that into the hypothetical feud with Roman that would be excellent. Also edge is in his forties right now so while he isn't at the peak of where he used to be, he can use his position to elevate other stars. Also he's too damn likeable heel or face but I can't speak on behalf of the roster.
The mention of there being more of an upper echelon rather than one guy in the attitude era may be why NXT tends to be so well regarded; Kross might be the champion now, but you've got Kross, Balor, the UE, Ciampa, Gargano...an entire range of people all circling the main event title scene. Similarly with the women a couple years ago; Shayna, Kairi, Io, Mia, Dakota; a whole cluster of people rather than one.

Coincidentally, most of the entries on this list were from 2015-2016 where WWE really tried WAY too hard with Roman. What they're doing with Roman now is what they should've done a LONG time ago.

Here’s a few Not inserting him in the Rollins and Ambrouse feud. Having him win the Rumble when it made more sense for it to be Bryan (Reigns wasn’t ready for that moment just yet) His 2015 was actually quite good but then in 2016 they messed him up again with the Royal Rumble Making an overly predictable main event for WrestleMaina 32 Winning the US Championship and doing nothing with it The underwhelming feud with the Undertaker Not turning him heel after THAT Raw after WrestleMaina promo Having him be the main guy with Leasner and no one else getting a shot The constant boring feud with Leasner, Roman whining as a baby face The constant need for him to be in world title matches And then everything after his thankful return (besides Goldberg and Corbin) was actually good. He wasn’t shoved down are thoughts, he was getting others over, he was quite likeable. Then they turned him heel and is now a mega star like character and I wish they did it years ago. The Roman Reigns push wasn’t as bad as Charlotte’s although the constant of him main eventing WrestleMaina’s was frustrating.
Roman got the most passionate reactions out of people. The finish at WM32 was the correct one. And you couldn’t have him beating Undertaker at WM33 in the middle of the card
@@markmichel3855 yes I agree about what you said about Reigns vs Undertaker at WM33 100% but Dean Ambrouse in late 2015 and early 2016 was incredibly over as a complete baby face where Reigns was getting mixed to mostly negative reactions. Why couldn’t WWE instead have the Reigns vs Undertaker match happen at WM32 and have Ambrouse beat Triple H. You could have done Brock vs the Wyatt Family or Brock vs Styes. OR WWE save Leasner vs Undertaker 3 for WrestleMaina inside Hell In A Cell, do Shane vs Triple H and do Ambrouse (winning the Rumble that wouldn’t be for the WWE Championship) against Reigns who could be the top heel since Rollins was injured at the time. That would have been a much better card and at least then Roman is a heel and he has the perfect baby face to go against him.
Love this video. WWE is possibly the _only_ show that gets feedback on what's working and what's not each and every episode and can _change the story_ each and every episode to deliver what the fans want. Yet they don't. Worse than being boo'd is being boring. Worse than "my guy" not winning is the story not making any sense. WWE Creative is lost and we all lose for it. Reigns could be great (and he's starting to) but WWE messed him up so much for so long people will continue to hold a grudge.

Nah man Rollins was the right guy. Before that chair shot the last person I thought would turn first was Rollins because of his babyface potential. Him turning was surprising and it was going really well up until the injury. Roman on the other hand WWE booked immediately to the top instead of gradually building him up. I honestly believe the babyface run would have worked had they waited another year to build him up properly and then have him win the rumble the following year. (Daniel Bryan should of won the 2014 and 2015 Rumble but WWE doesn't give us nice things🤷♂️)
It's pretty nuts in hindsight how Daniel Bryan was eliminated that early. Seemingly WWE telling us he's yesterday's news. And Triple H needs some blame in that Mania 32 match. He's been guilty of from time to time having overly long, very slow paced matches that aren't playing to his opponent's strengths.
They probably refer to the 'how would Adam book'. Which I'm pretty he scripts himself. Also with the jokes throughout his vids, I doubt it's someone else
Expanding on the WM32 entry with Triple H, what didn't help the narrative with Roman being a "bad wrestler" is that the next two manias he competed in...main evented no less, were also rather tough matches to sit through. He had to try carrying a WAY over the hill Undertaker to something, one that was just not fun to watch with a post-match that just feels useless in hindsight. Then the WM34 car crash match with Brock that was NOWHERE near as fun as WM31 and I feel that match is overlooked for how unbearable it was because of how bad the HHH match was. His match with Drew at 35 was a solid mid-card match though. Since his return, he's had really solid matches, from his duo of showdowns with Jey, the Survivor Series showdown with Drew, and the LMS match with Owens (at least until that bungled finish). Plus, the whole Tribal Chief thing REALLY works for him and has effectively molded him into one of the best things on TV. Please, WWE, give Roman an opponent that he can have a great match with. If it's Edge? Great! If it's Bryan? They've had solid matches before...so yeah! It can't be worse than the dud trilogy of Roman's previous main events.
Roman should have been the heel that broke away from the shield and become the authoritys silent hitman. Then over with time he could have switch to the tribal chief gimmick

The Hulk Hogan problem is probably my main problem with WWE and always has been. I never grew up with Hogan. I watched wrestling now and then during his era when my parents would allow it, but when I was old enough to watch wrestling more frequently it was to guys like Randy Savage, Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels. Guys who won through skill, not through being superheroes who no-sold all the offense or who could beat up 10 guys at the same time. It even made me dislike Austin and Rock during the Attitude Era. I like their work now in hindsight, and I also have taken to liking a lot of Cena's later stuff, but in a way, I was never a fan of whoever was THE guy in WWE at the time of their respective reign.
Roman reigns was basically the Modern-Day version of Diesel. The tall guy with black hair who Vince pushed too hard as a babyface (which the fans hated) after his golden goose left
It really just goes to show that WWE has mostly gotten to where it is in spite of Vince rather than because of him, from a creative standpoint at least. The 80s boom period where Hogan had guys built up for months (or over a year in the case of the Mega Powers) only for him to knock down was mostly Pat Patterson, and the Attitude Era was him letting guys like Austin and Rock free wheeling and letting their sheer force of personality shine through. Even Smackdown during the first brand split was superior mainly because Paul Heyman was the driving force behind the booking. When we've had eras where Vince or his yes men (Prichard and Johnny Ace) is in control, we've gotten the New Generation, or horrid unwatchable stuff like 2009-12 guest host Raw. But hey, Vince has stated before that he doesn't do RASSLIN'. He makes movies. Sure ya do, Vinny.

Oh it wasn’t just the Hulk Hogan problem. WWE has always run with the one guy template. Bruno Samartino was the guy for a decade. Bob Backland was the guy and people started to hate it. Hogan only became the guy do to massive fan support. The 90s at least cooled off with it since Hart and Micheals were the guys and then Austin, Rock and HHH. Then the one guy template got solidified again after Lesnar bailed and they had to make a top guy John Cena. The same problems they had with Bob Backland back in the day just multipled. And then Roman. Just Thank God they found a role that works for him.
Wrestlemania 34 is an honorable/dishonorable mention. Instead of Brock beating Roman and Braun teaming with a little boy, Braun could’ve beaten Brock for the Universal Title at No Mercy 2017 and held the title til Roman beat him at Wrestlemania 34, but NOT in the MAIN EVENT. Roman vs MONSTER Champion Braun could’ve been a great match at Mania.

What about all of 2017? That year WWE tried to portray him as the biggest good guy company even though he....... 1.) "Retired" The Undertaker, a.k.a the biggest legend in all of wrestling, and acted super smug about it 2.) Crashed Rusev's wedding reception and insulted his wife for no reason 3.) Wore a bullet proof vest when he wrestled which gave him an unfair advantage in matches 4.) Refused to help his best friends Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose when they were being beaten up by the Miztourage 5.) Tried to kill Braun Strowman by locking him in an ambulance and crushing it after losing a match to him fair and square
Him getting the main event early, and letting him forget about the Shield was dumb, they could've made Dean and Roman a tag team first before going their separate ways and be singles champions.
honorable mention: not turning him heel when he said it was his yard now after beating undertaker. if there was ever a gift wrapped heel turn moment... that line was it.
I agree with the list. However, I want to comment on the #1 issue. Yes, WWE does suffer from the Hogan disease. Yet, you cannot really fault them, it DID work for Austin and John cena ( yes many failed experiments along the way, and many naturally over people got shifted ) yet it works! Austin sold PPVs and did the biggest ratings , Cena sold and continues to sell a ridiculous number of merchandise. So, from WWE’s POV why would they stop? ( I want to make clear, I disagree with that idea of a one man company) but from a business POV it worked all of those years so why stop now? Great video Adam ❤️
Austin WAS the focus of the Attitude Era, one guy against several factions, the main one led by his boss! What puts Austin in the same category with Sammartino, Backlund.and Morales is Austin wasn't an unbeatable Superman-- he could be beaten, whether he held onto his belt or lost it! He was human and fans loved it and it sold tickets! An unbeatable Superhuman gets old fast, especially since we know it's all a work, that's one thing WWE still doesn't get! The reason why I'm totally into "Tribal Chief" Roman is even without flashy robes or expensive suits, Roman is in the tradition of Ric Flair, Buddy Rogers and Gino Hernandez, good looking heels who can wrestle, cut promos and cheat their butts off, the guys you love to hate!

They should've when The Shield broke up have Roman going after Seth finally beating him in a one on one match have him for on to win the us title have like a four month Regin going through everyone trying to get over his past and looking towards his future winning The Royal Rumble but who is The WWE Championship Seth. This is so stupid. Okada didnt feel shoved down everyones throat like Roman was. His in ring ability, career prior to being the rainmaker in chaos and the introduction of Gedo as his manager was really well handled. Roman in contrast was throw right into the main event and kept all of the shield theme and outfit . No one had a problem with Roman being the new big star but the execution of it and how astroturfed it felt was the issue

This video is reminding me why AEW is getting such a positive response, especially the no. 1 reason on here. If you asked me who the face of AEW was, I could list like, six different names and they would all be correct. As you said, WWE seems to seriously still think there needs to be just one, or at most, one per brand. If they embraced more non-title feuds, I feel like they could have at minimum three or four faces for each brand. It feels like they're starting to get it with The Hurt Business and the US title if they feel like they absolutely must have a title involved, but if they were actually using Retribution properly they would have made them be fighting main event card matches but not involve the titles. It would have fit both them viewing themselves as outsiders or in Mustafa Ali's case a disgruntled midcarder to have them be pushing against going for titles and simply trying to feud against main eventers or even title holders while not caring about the titles themselves. But instead the continue to show they don't know how to do that, as shown by tonight's decision to make Drew lose to the Miz and Bobby Lashley lose to Riddle, which feels like one of the dumber title changes in the last year to me.
Do you think those moments in 2016 where he "slept" in matches was a way to help Roman get some kind of relied because of his leukemia, yet wwe still gets to tell their story? Something i was pondering.
The frustrating thing is they could have done the right thing with Roman 5 YEARS AGO. As much as we all hated Roman at the time, most of us knew there was a genuine star there but the WWE was so incompetent in how they were presenting him. At least it gave Roman time to grow both in the ring and on the mic.

If taker would have won, people would say “old guy holding a young guy down.” Had to beat taker to logically beat Brock. Taker looking bad and the match being presented as a young guy putting a old guy out of his misery wasn’t Ideal. Vince knew it would get a reaction and that crowd reaction got me back into wrestling
Roman always worked best when he was the silent enforcer. One of the best things about his heel run is the fact he no longer needs to speak every time because they gave him Heyman, the greatest mouthpiece on the WWE payroll. The results speak for themselves as we like this incarnation of Roman a lot.
Hey remember when Roman lost clean to Braun, so the top guy, the top babyface, protagonist GOOD GUY ROLE MODEL TO THE CHILDREN attempted to murder Braun by running him into a semi truck. And then the next night on RAW, as punishment, Kurt Angle gave Roman the attempted murderer a Universal Championship match... and Roman COMPLAINED he was getting a title shot for nearly KILLING A MAN HE LOST TO CLEAN.
I have been saying that about the booking and creative for years. When you focus around only one guy you miss out on many chances to get other guys to that level. Why have just one John Cena when you can have three at that level catching eyes, turning heads, and drawing a buzz to the product?

Based on his booking output it seems Vince McMahon has always been obsessed with the notion that one man - and _only one_ man - can accomplish great things; it would probably explain why he's never been to big about the tag team division, for instance. But it seems like it's _really_ poisoned his mind in the last decade or so, to the point where he seems to think relying on one person to save the day is the _only_ way to get things done, and everything else is just wasting time and effort.

I think they didn’t do it because Steve Austin was able to pull that kind of stuff and stay face so they thought the same logic could apply to Roman.

And then everything after his thankful return (besides Goldberg and Corbin) was actually good. He wasn’t shoved down are thoughts, he was getting others over, he was quite likeable. Then they turned him heel and is now a mega star like character and I wish they did it years ago.
The Roman Reigns push wasn’t as bad as Charlotte’s although the constant of him main eventing WrestleMaina’s was frustrating.
Roman got the most passionate reactions out of people. The finish at WM32 was the correct one. And you couldn’t have him beating Undertaker at WM33 in the middle of the card
@@markmichel3855 yes I agree about what you said about Reigns vs Undertaker at WM33 100% but Dean Ambrouse in late 2015 and early 2016 was incredibly over as a complete baby face where Reigns was getting mixed to mostly negative reactions. Why couldn’t WWE instead have the Reigns vs Undertaker match happen at WM32 and have Ambrouse beat Triple H. You could have done Brock vs the Wyatt Family or Brock vs Styes.
OR WWE save Leasner vs Undertaker 3 for WrestleMaina inside Hell In A Cell, do Shane vs Triple H and do Ambrouse (winning the Rumble that wouldn’t be for the WWE Championship) against Reigns who could be the top heel since Rollins was injured at the time. That would have been a much better card and at least then Roman is a heel and he has the perfect baby face to go against him.
Love this video. WWE is possibly the _only_ show that gets feedback on what's working and what's not each and every episode and can _change the story_ each and every episode to deliver what the fans want. Yet they don't. Worse than being boo'd is being boring. Worse than "my guy" not winning is the story not making any sense. WWE Creative is lost and we all lose for it. Reigns could be great (and he's starting to) but WWE messed him up so much for so long people will continue to hold a grudge.

Nah man Rollins was the right guy. Before that chair shot the last person I thought would turn first was Rollins because of his babyface potential. Him turning was surprising and it was going really well up until the injury. Roman on the other hand WWE booked immediately to the top instead of gradually building him up. I honestly believe the babyface run would have worked had they waited another year to build him up properly and then have him win the rumble the following year. (Daniel Bryan should of won the 2014 and 2015 Rumble but WWE doesn't give us nice things🤷♂️)

It's pretty nuts in hindsight how Daniel Bryan was eliminated that early. Seemingly WWE telling us he's yesterday's news. And Triple H needs some blame in that Mania 32 match. He's been guilty of from time to time having overly long, very slow paced matches that aren't playing to his opponent's strengths.
Triple H seems to feel that once he puts the trunks back on he's the biggest heel in the company again, and should be in the main event because of it.

Expanding on the WM32 entry with Triple H, what didn't help the narrative with Roman being a "bad wrestler" is that the next two manias he competed in...main evented no less, were also rather tough matches to sit through. He had to try carrying a WAY over the hill Undertaker to something, one that was just not fun to watch with a post-match that just feels useless in hindsight. Then the WM34 car crash match with Brock that was NOWHERE near as fun as WM31 and I feel that match is overlooked for how unbearable it was because of how bad the HHH match was. His match with Drew at 35 was a solid mid-card match though.
Since his return, he's had really solid matches, from his duo of showdowns with Jey, the Survivor Series showdown with Drew, and the LMS match with Owens (at least until that bungled finish). Plus, the whole Tribal Chief thing REALLY works for him and has effectively molded him into one of the best things on TV.
Please, WWE, give Roman an opponent that he can have a great match with. If it's Edge? Great! If it's Bryan? They've had solid matches before...so yeah! It can't be worse than the dud trilogy of Roman's previous main events.

The Hulk Hogan problem is probably my main problem with WWE and always has been. I never grew up with Hogan. I watched wrestling now and then during his era when my parents would allow it, but when I was old enough to watch wrestling more frequently it was to guys like Randy Savage, Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels. Guys who won through skill, not through being superheroes who no-sold all the offense or who could beat up 10 guys at the same time. It even made me dislike Austin and Rock during the Attitude Era. I like their work now in hindsight, and I also have taken to liking a lot of Cena's later stuff, but in a way, I was never a fan of whoever was THE guy in WWE at the time of their respective reign.
Roman reigns was basically the Modern-Day version of Diesel. The tall guy with black hair who Vince pushed too hard as a babyface (which the fans hated) after his golden goose left
It really just goes to show that WWE has mostly gotten to where it is in spite of Vince rather than because of him, from a creative standpoint at least.
The 80s boom period where Hogan had guys built up for months (or over a year in the case of the Mega Powers) only for him to knock down was mostly Pat Patterson, and the Attitude Era was him letting guys like Austin and Rock free wheeling and letting their sheer force of personality shine through. Even Smackdown during the first brand split was superior mainly because Paul Heyman was the driving force behind the booking.
When we've had eras where Vince or his yes men (Prichard and Johnny Ace) is in control, we've gotten the New Generation, or horrid unwatchable stuff like 2009-12 guest host Raw.
But hey, Vince has stated before that he doesn't do RASSLIN'. He makes movies.

Oh it wasn’t just the Hulk Hogan problem. WWE has always run with the one guy template. Bruno Samartino was the guy for a decade. Bob Backland was the guy and people started to hate it. Hogan only became the guy do to massive fan support. The 90s at least cooled off with it since Hart and Micheals were the guys and then Austin, Rock and HHH. Then the one guy template got solidified again after Lesnar bailed and they had to make a top guy John Cena. The same problems they had with Bob Backland back in the day just multipled. And then Roman. Just Thank God they found a role that works for him.
Not making him the “Tribal Chief” much earlier. He’s the best thing in WWE right now.

Wrestlemania 34 is an honorable/dishonorable mention. Instead of Brock beating Roman and Braun teaming with a little boy, Braun could’ve beaten Brock for the Universal Title at No Mercy 2017 and held the title til Roman beat him at Wrestlemania 34, but NOT in the MAIN EVENT. Roman vs MONSTER Champion Braun could’ve been a great match at Mania.

1.) "Retired" The Undertaker, a.k.a the biggest legend in all of wrestling, and acted super smug about it
2.) Crashed Rusev's wedding reception and insulted his wife for no reason
3.) Wore a bullet proof vest when he wrestled which gave him an unfair advantage in matches
4.) Refused to help his best friends Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose when they were being beaten up by the Miztourage
5.) Tried to kill Braun Strowman by locking him in an ambulance and crushing it after losing a match to him fair and square

Him getting the main event early, and letting him forget about the Shield was dumb, they could've made Dean and Roman a tag team first before going their separate ways and be singles champions.

Roman being the top babyface was never a bad idea. They just make mistakes. They turned him heel because they now had a strong babyface with Drew.
I agree with the list. However, I want to comment on the #1 issue. Yes, WWE does suffer from the Hogan disease. Yet, you cannot really fault them, it DID work for Austin and John cena ( yes many failed experiments along the way, and many naturally over people got shifted ) yet it works! Austin sold PPVs and did the biggest ratings , Cena sold and continues to sell a ridiculous number of merchandise. So, from WWE’s POV why would they stop? ( I want to make clear, I disagree with that idea of a one man company) but from a business POV it worked all of those years so why stop now? Great video Adam ❤️

The Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns quadrilogy was a nightmare.
Austin WAS the focus of the Attitude Era, one guy against several factions, the main one led by his boss! What puts Austin in the same category with Sammartino, Backlund.and Morales is Austin wasn't an unbeatable Superman-- he could be beaten, whether he held onto his belt or lost it! He was human and fans loved it and it sold tickets!
An unbeatable Superhuman gets old fast, especially since we know it's all a work, that's one thing WWE still doesn't get! The reason why I'm totally into "Tribal Chief" Roman is even without flashy robes or expensive suits, Roman is in the tradition of Ric Flair, Buddy Rogers and Gino Hernandez, good looking heels who can wrestle, cut promos and cheat their butts off, the guys you love to hate!
Comparing Roman Reigns to Ric Flare really!!! Not even in the same arena. And Roman never will be close to Flair.

This is so stupid. Okada didnt feel shoved down everyones throat like Roman was. His in ring ability, career prior to being the rainmaker in chaos and the introduction of Gedo as his manager was really well handled. Roman in contrast was throw right into the main event and kept all of the shield theme and outfit . No one had a problem with Roman being the new big star but the execution of it and how astroturfed it felt was the issue

This video is reminding me why AEW is getting such a positive response, especially the no. 1 reason on here. If you asked me who the face of AEW was, I could list like, six different names and they would all be correct. As you said, WWE seems to seriously still think there needs to be just one, or at most, one per brand. If they embraced more non-title feuds, I feel like they could have at minimum three or four faces for each brand. It feels like they're starting to get it with The Hurt Business and the US title if they feel like they absolutely must have a title involved, but if they were actually using Retribution properly they would have made them be fighting main event card matches but not involve the titles. It would have fit both them viewing themselves as outsiders or in Mustafa Ali's case a disgruntled midcarder to have them be pushing against going for titles and simply trying to feud against main eventers or even title holders while not caring about the titles themselves.
But instead the continue to show they don't know how to do that, as shown by tonight's decision to make Drew lose to the Miz and Bobby Lashley lose to Riddle, which feels like one of the dumber title changes in the last year to me.
I still don't understand why Reigns doesn't have new music. If not after the Shield breakup, why not now with the Tribal Chief gimmick? 🤔

Do you think those moments in 2016 where he "slept" in matches was a way to help Roman get some kind of relied because of his leukemia, yet wwe still gets to tell their story? Something i was pondering.
The frustrating thing is they could have done the right thing with Roman 5 YEARS AGO. As much as we all hated Roman at the time, most of us knew there was a genuine star there but the WWE was so incompetent in how they were presenting him. At least it gave Roman time to grow both in the ring and on the mic.

If taker would have won, people would say “old guy holding a young guy down.” Had to beat taker to logically beat Brock. Taker looking bad and the match being presented as a young guy putting a old guy out of his misery wasn’t Ideal. Vince knew it would get a reaction and that crowd reaction got me back into wrestling

Roman always worked best when he was the silent enforcer. One of the best things about his heel run is the fact he no longer needs to speak every time because they gave him Heyman, the greatest mouthpiece on the WWE payroll. The results speak for themselves as we like this incarnation of Roman a lot.

Hey remember when Roman lost clean to Braun, so the top guy, the top babyface, protagonist GOOD GUY ROLE MODEL TO THE CHILDREN attempted to murder Braun by running him into a semi truck.
And then the next night on RAW, as punishment, Kurt Angle gave Roman the attempted murderer a Universal Championship match... and Roman COMPLAINED he was getting a title shot for nearly KILLING A MAN HE LOST TO CLEAN.
That sadly is nothing new with top babyfaces in WWE. All of Vince's "role models" had that problem, wether it was Hogan, Cena or Roman.

I have been saying that about the booking and creative for years. When you focus around only one guy you miss out on many chances to get other guys to that level. Why have just one John Cena when you can have three at that level catching eyes, turning heads, and drawing a buzz to the product?

I legitimately believe Roman is a top 5 wrestler, just not given the chance to be it. And now he’s proving he is.
Based on his booking output it seems Vince McMahon has always been obsessed with the notion that one man - and _only one_ man - can accomplish great things; it would probably explain why he's never been to big about the tag team division, for instance. But it seems like it's _really_ poisoned his mind in the last decade or so, to the point where he seems to think relying on one person to save the day is the _only_ way to get things done, and everything else is just wasting time and effort.
