I can vouch for that... a guy on Fb was selling an LS transmission for 300$ I asked him face to face is there any trouble with the transmission and he told me no it works fine.. put it in my car with a b20b swap and have 3rd and 5th pop out with a bad input shaft bearing.

Wish I could tell you, unfortunately I've never had the pleasure of working on one of those, I would assume the gears and shafts are similar but I'm not sure. A good person to ask that would be transzex on d-series.org if he's still around
Yeah downshifting from 2nd to 1st while moving is a common problem that isnt always related to an issue with the transmission, but is sometimes a symptom of another issue (dragging clutch will cause grinding issues, such as with your damaged slave threads).A normal rebuild (no broken gears/teeth just bearings and seals) is around 400-500$ unless you have other parts that need replaced such as synchros or selectors and much you want to replace (All bearings or just the ones that are damaged). I also repair cases, the damaged slave threads are a common issue, weld them solid and then redrill and tap them to the original size.

Cervan when down shift to 1st from 2nd gear it grinds and where the slave meets the case the holes are messed up can't get a bolt to fit

Cervan I don't think its clutch drag but ok I need this work done not sure what's going on in there but I need tranny to pulling good
