Back in the early 90s, I was subject to a strip search by UK customs after arriving back from the US. They even emptied out my shampoo and conditioner bottles. They were convinced this scruffy, skint looking, sole traveling student, who had only spent 48 hours in the US, must be up to no good. In fact, the trip was purely to keep my Green Card valid whilst studying in the UK. I did make sure I was very compliant-didn't want them to plant anything. Thankfully, I did not get rubber glove treatment.
In over 50 trips to the U.K., I think customs there only so much as opened my bags once. I probably looked too grouchy after flying all night to be up to no good. My success with U.S. Customs upon returning was not as good. Sometimes they even found something or other terribly dangerous, such as leftover oranges.
Boarding pass, you're in New York (9/11). Maybe have to physically verify the person boarding the plane matches the documentation, so an imposter can't slip in.
I uploaded my passport on line for verification. I don't mind having to show them in person but don't ask me to spend 5 mins uploading my passport. 👍🏼😜😊
Some years ago, flying on United from Frankfurt to JFK or maybe Newark on United I had 2 security checks and 3 passport checks before boarding the plane. This was in effect only on flights towards the USA. Hard to fault.

The service design and delivery is way ahead of the other American transatlantic carriers. JetBlue is what Virgin Atlantic could be.

I don't think so. Laker was undercapitalized (I flew them a few times in the 1980's) and very uncomfortable. The DC-10's were not very efficient.
The legacy carriers fly to Europe from places other than New York, such as LAX, SFO, Dallas, and Houston. Jet Blue does not have aircraft even on order that can do that.
American and United make a fortune from their premium cabin prices between New York and London and as long as they can sell those seats they have no reason to lower the prices overall to try to drive out Jet Blue. Plus, there are so few legacy carriers left that any such moves would be fought by U.S. regulators.

Great video, and thanks for sharing another great trip to the USA and NY. Only flown to NY with British Airways, mainly for convenience flying from Newcastle via Heathrow, as the connecting flights are all included and they deal with transfer of luggage between flights too. However, JetBlue do look good, particularly the food and choices you get, and the little in flight pouch. Also, was inflight wi-fi free and included, or was that part of your upgraded seat? Will definitely give them a look next time I'm booking for NY (because I will go back), and hopefully can make it happen with fligths to London too.

Yes, going through security is the worst part of flying.
There’s a brand of belts called arcade. They have plastic buckles. You don’t have to take them off going through security there really great belts. I wear the belts all the time. They are very comfortable and stylish. And no I do not work for the company. Lol. just food for thought.
Lee, were you not staying at Martins when you left for the airport? Your Uber driver took you on Sunrise Highway which is nowhere near Long Beach. It was a little confusing.
JetBlue is taking over Spirit, it's not a merger, it' a buyout. It is very well publicized.

Noel Philips did a good review of JetBlue's Mint Suite. It's pretty luxurious but super expensive. I think there are ways around the high costs using air miles. I would love to see your review of the mint suite. It's very posh, I think they give you pajamas and slippers.

think you need to give Virgin upper class a whirl. If you use there credit card and/or airmiles and shopsaway you can quickly get enough airmiles to get a transatlantic flight for free. Its not totally free though, you have to pay the tax. But still £500 for a return flight with so much legroom you can lay down 🤣 throw in there premium Clubhouse lounge at Heathrow. Perfect for a trip to LA/new york/San Fransico👍

So, you ate all of your main, then all of your first side, then all of your second side, with no mixing at all. You don't look like my grandson, but you still do a pretty good impersonation!
I flew Jet Blue a few times domestically and they were fine. Long Beach is relatively close to JFK, and Gatwick is relatively far from where you live. I have in the past flown all night and then made a long drive, but it isn't fun and I don't think I would like to do it again. In my later trips to London I think I always went straight from the airport to a nearby hotel, and that worked well for me.
Some viewers might have wondered about the small "humps" atop all of the Jet Blue aircraft. When the airline started they built some market share through in-flight entertainment, with all the aircraft having satellite TV. That's what the humps are for, and by now I imagine they handle the Wi-Fi as well. I don't even know on which other airlines I could get free Wi-Fi, but at this point I haven't been on a plane in 3 1/2 years.

Hey Lee, love the USA vids. My family and I have always used United when going back to the US transatlantic. Might have to give jet blue a try next time. Can I recommend to you going to Georgia, next time you are in the states, lots of good food there and things to see. I would also recommend DC and Philly to you as well.

Enjoyed this video and, as you've said, Jet Blue looks really nice. I thought all the meal you had on this flight looked great, AND you chose macaroni cheese this time, which I love. Much to like about this trip, and some not to like, as with their tipping practices and high prices nowadays. Maybe some people won't complain about the prices here now because they're really not too bad in comparison.

As far as in-flight meals go (in cabin class), that's very decent! I used to HATE 'plane food when growing up, now I don't mind it, as they've all lifted their game (washed down with a few GnTs). Seems like a decent airline. Top stuff!
It'd be great if you could venture to Texas, and some of the southern states at some point (loved seeing your ventures in Tennessee). I will never get sick of the New York uploads. That city has everything!

13:07 so for us at JetBlue it makes us double check it because of we just need to verify it for customs and that’s it is really what it is even though you uploaded it on the system we just have to hit a box saying verified and the paper boarding pass well you don’t actually need one it’s just a automated thing we just do

Business class looks Blue-min (mint) amazing but couldn't face the extra cost.
Man you must have earned enough Jet Blue miles by now to get a Mint upgrade. They are fantastic. The food is amazing it does not get any better to me especially for the price.

@@TheMacMaster You must not like Italian food. Thousands of Italian restaurants in New York, and no, I don't care if most of them are really "American-style" Italian restaurants. It's what we eat here, along with diner food and pub (bar) food. There are also French restaurants, not nearly as many, and those I've been in have been good, just not my usual cup of beaujolais.
