Love the opening. “If you’re against narrow body long haul you’re narrow minded and probably a bit stupid” couldn’t have said it better. Narrow bodies generally offer larger seat pitches in economy than widebodies. The only potential issue with A321 long haul specifically is the poor climb performance may mean on a bad weather day you’d potentially get a more turbulent and uncomfortable ride, obviously not something a wide body is immune to either the better performance and increased range gives them more options to avoid bad weather. The flight would also be a few minutes longer as the A321 is significantly slower than a wide body or 757, not that a difference of 20-30 minutes on a flight of that length would or should be a deal breaker for most people.
I travelled this flight in June from EDI to NYC and back. I wasnt familiar with JetBlue , but I must admit, they were fantastic! They have their own terminal at JFK as well, so from exiting the plane, getting through customs and meeting our transfer out front we were around 20 mins. Very impressed for £370 return each. Even managed the return leg back across the Atlantic in less than 6 hours 👍
Before Covid British Airways had an A318 with 32 flat bed business class seats that flew from London City to JFK. On the way there it stopped to refuel in Shannon Ireland where you did US CBP pre clearance and so landed as a domestic passenger and it only had 20 min check in. Was a unique service and strange to see such a small plane at the gate at JFK T7.
I took JetBlue from BOS to LGW this past Dec. The plane was sparsely occupied and people had the chance to spread out, I had a row of 3 to myself. The ride wasn't bad but the thing that got me was for a transatlantic ride and $700.00 ticket a hot meal as opposed to a cold wrap suitable for a domestic flight could've been provided. The FA's said there was no ovens on board, they seem to have eliminated that route and my trip this Dec. to LHR is on Delta. Widebody's for me but they're getting harder to get.
@Meowmeow-lj4sv Airbus hasn’t delivered any XLRs yet. These are just the regular NEOs. The LRs have the ovens and are operating the majority of B6’s TATL flying. EDI is going to be on the 3NL for August, LGW will be 3NS
Hi to our Irish 🇨🇮 cousins from the Emerald Isle, have just watched your vlog, well let me say this to you I live in the city, infact 5 minutes away from were you were parked up, yes to visitors to the city like yourselves it has so much to offer, history, culture, scenery, architecture, great places to eat,and being Celtic and like myself great ale houses🍺🍺to refresh ones tonsils. And may I say this to you, there is so much to take in,you could spend a year in the City and still have only scratched the surface as there is so much to see and do and enjoy,by the way this is the home town where Sean Connery 007 was born in and brought up as a boy, and he was very proud of that fact of his heritage, also J K Rowling lives in Edinburgh the birth place of Harry Potter the boy wizard, Charles Darwin was at the medical school,Simpson gave the world pain relief by discovering Chloroform, Arthur Conan Doyle of Sherlock Holmes fame was born and brought up in Edinburgh, where he studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh medical school and became a docter, Sherlock Holmes was based on his Proffesor Joseph Bell who was one of Conon Doyles lectures at medical school. So I will depart and hope you return one day to Edinburgh to enjoy the pleasures that it has to offer, all the best to you on your travels.🏴
I've flown transatlantic on the 757 several times from Glasgow and Edinburgh. Flown transatlantic in widebodies just as much. There is absolutely no difference when in economy. Those that claim to be cramped and uncomfortable are either flying very shitty airlines or just biased. Seat width is very similar between the 757, A321 and any wide body. "OH but the single aisle leads to traffic jams during meal services and going to the toilet". - No more so than on twin aisle jets, in fact on the twin aisles you get TWO jams. One in each aisle. "Oh but, you can de-plane quicker on a widebody". - Nope 9 times out of 10, there is but one door used for getting on and off. Both aisles lead to it. Same delay as single aisle. It will be interesting to see how the A321NEO and XLR do on the transatlantic routes. Their wings are maxed out on there lift generating capacity, meaning they take foreeeeeeever to climb to cruising altitude. A guy I know told me "I've got 3200 hours on the A321. 12 of which in cruise." Of course he jests, but the A321 is not known to be a good climber. This is where the venerable 757 beats it, every time, any load, anywhere. Too bad Boeing never updated it. @ 14:12 - How thoughtful of the BA crew to turn off their taxi lights so as to not blind the passengers on your aircraft!
Nice video. Beautiful take off. What a lot of planes in queue for take off! I may consider Jet Blue for my trip to JFK. They also fly from Amsterdam, and maybe also from Brussels, which is closer to my home in the south east of the Netherlands.
Hey, great vids and reports! I have u a follow on IG and also had a question. Do you think JetBlue’s transatlantic intl service gonna stick around? And I’m a major Dune fan so seeing you watch Part 2 made me incredibly giddy😂

Bingo! You seem to have named all the main differences. Thanks for watching

Yeah, really unique flight. Never had the chance to take it
Lovely takeoff from JFK. JetBlue is one of my favorite airlines.

Airbus isn't delivering the XLR fast enough and those are the ones with the ovens so they're using that 3NS as a temporary substitute atm.

What was that noise the fa was making about the power outlets?

“A little bit stupid “ No way to endear yourself to your viewers
You’re right. I was hoping to elicit a good narrowbody-widebody conversation.
Good thing with JetBlue is they do not fly any Boeings which is a huge plus. I’ve started using them for this reason alone.
Are you stupid?
