Correction:
It appears the drummer in this clip is actually Jeff Friedl and NOT Josh Freese as mentioned throughout.
This was an honest mistake by the person requesting the clip, who knew it was Jeff but had Josh on the brain from previous conversations we had had. (Josh Freese does feature on the DVD).
I go into all videos completely cold, for better or worse. I don't want to have any prior knowledge of what I'm about to watch. Pure reaction, no plan.
Mistakes happen! I just found out about a new (to me) awesome drummer.

It's Jeff Friedl - a fantastic (lefty) drummer. Josh Freese hasn't been a part of APC for many years. Check out By and down from same concert at Red rocks

Saw this band live a few years back! Don’t remember who was drumming though. Maynard James Keenan is a mastermind! Always knows how to pick great drummers!

I saw them on the Thirteenth Step tour and he had a lower leg injury and he still killed it.

I saw them on the same tour. I was afraid what it was going to sound like when I saw Josh come out on crutches, but he did not disappoint at all.
The live version of “by and down” from this show is next level if you ever get a chance to check that Andrew. It’s so good

I was introduced to Josh in 1996 seeing him with The Vandals. Been a fan since. The Taylor Hawkins tribute got to show again, that Josh Freese is hands down the session king. Any modern Rock drummer must be aware of this man!
Two killer videos to look out for are: Pizza Tran - The Vandals LIVE House of Blues Josh Freese Cam & NIN - The Split LIVE rehersal. Especially the sessions are the absolute nuts to watch.
I love love love, the chorus pedal used correctly. Would be fantastic watching this on a proper home cinema and surround sound system.

The Larnell Lewis of the rock world is a good parallel I'd have to say. The dudes from The Mars Volta have got to sitting every night in the waterless bathtub, just sobbing and cutting, sobbing and cutting themselves for letting him go like they did. Unless a band is in the more extreme and technical corners of the music world, then all else probably all proclaim that Josh Freese is the right man for the job. When whomever and the whathaveyou's are in a pinch to find a guy he's got it covered. When the gig ends I'm sure they dirty up their knees something fierce trying to keep him from moving on.
This is not Josh but Jeff is a WONDERFUL player.

Have you ever noticed that the drums seem to anticipate Josh's strikes. I swear I can hear the muffled impact of the air surrounding his sticks strike the drums minutely before the striking occurs.
