It's fun to watch an experienced and skilled player of these From Soft "Souls" games use their initiative to get through these kind of randomised challenges! I've done one enemy & item randomiser playthrough of DkS3 so far, and had to explore around the Cemetary of Ash and Firelink Shrine a fair bit in order to get the Coiled Sword as well. I think in the end I had to defeat the Swordmaster replacement (I recall that they had a strong weapon like the Dragon Tooth as well) to get the key to the bell tower, which then had the Ashes to give to the Handmaiden to make her sell the Coiled Sword at the top, so it was quite an adventure in itself! In some ways I wish that From Soft did something like that for the base game introduction. The Vordt replacement in that run was Wolnir, another boss who really does not fit in that arena, but thankfully I could easily get behind him and whack his unprotected backside for an relatively easy victory.
