- In this episode we go through the disassembly of the Crosman 2240XL CO2 pistol. This procedure also applies to models 2300S, 2300T, 2300KT and is very similar to disassembling the standard 2240 pistol as well.

The only thing that drives me CRAZY NUTS is that "BLACK BOARD" that you place all your black screws and stuff on. I would use a thick "white" cloth. Nothing would roll around, and you could SEE IT. I would like to think I'm in control.

Nice video. I wanted to mention the transfer port is not symmetrical, there is a “short” end and a “long” end. The short end goes towards the valve tube and the long end goes towards the barrel. When removing and placing off to the side one may want to sit it right side up so that when re-installing it goes back in correctly.

Sounds like an excellent set-up. Product back-orders can be frustrating these days.
6:35 this screw is an odd metric not available at any store so best thing to do the 1st time removed is cut a slot in it so you can use a flathead screwdriver or it WILL strip. Or you could tap the next largest thread size and use a store bought screw of your choice.
I often use a dremel cut-off wheel to put a slot in mine the first time it's out. As you are correct they have a tendency to the allen head to strip.
Good technique can minimize but not eliminate this tendency, I squeeze the parts together (to take pressure of the screw) then place my thumb on the bend in the allen key above the screw for down pressure and start the turn with a quick sharp eighth of an inch turn on the allen key to break it free. then I flip the key over and use the long end like a screw driver to gently remove it.
Even if you cut the slot later, you still have to get it out cleanly the first time.
Thank you for a very complete and understandable video. I saved this in case I need to take mine apart in the future. Also, on one of your previous videos, I mentioned my IZH. You commented that you wished you had gotten one when they were available from Russia. I presume you know that Air Venturi has reintroduced them, so you may want to check them out. I think Pyramid Air has them.

How often should you disassemble your pistol and is it necessary?
I only disassemble when required. Install or replace parts and perform repairs. They are not like firearms where disassembly is common.
Hi , if I want to put a longer barrel on it can I only remove the screws that hold the barrel or I have to take the whole gun apart
You have to take the gun apart. The barrel is also held in place by the transfer port between it and the valve in the main tube.
At 6.40 mark you took out the bolt..im trying to replace my steel breach with a brass one but the cap won't budge so I can't remove the bolt. Any ideas?
Sorry for the delayed response. So you have removed the rear sight screw, correct? It goes through the rear site, through the steel breech and through its end cap retainer before exiting the breech and through the top of the main tube and on down? If not. That’s your problem. If so, go ahead and remove the breech and barrel from the gun. Remove the barrel from the breech (which has to be done any way.) Then use a pencil ✏️ or dowel to reach through the front of the breech to knock the cam out the back.
Does the newer std 2240 have that notch in the hammer? I ordered a steel breech with the "hidden" screw for my new std 2240

@AlsAirguns I asked Alliance Hobby about it. Seems like that's the case. Easier for Crosman to just sell one hammer that fits all 2240

I watched the whole thing to see how to take the valve out without damaging it ?
Once you've separated the main tube from the barrel assembly remove the breech seal, then remove the screw on the bottom of the tube. At this point you should be able to turn the tube so the front is facing down and it should slide out. If not then you can push it out with a dowl or piece of plastic. There's an indentation in the metal of the tube that prevents the valve from coming out the rear of the tube. Sorry for not videoing that part.
Exactly where you stopped is where my problem is.
I need to remove that piece after the treads at the tip of the muzzle, is that possible ?
Non-removable. At least not easily. It's a semi-permanent press fit. That's why you have to remove the barrel from the breach prior to pulling the barrel support ring of the chamber end of the barrel.

It doesn’t. The threaded portion is permanently attached.
