      @@snakes111b one of the reasons it’s not feasible is a .22 Long Rifle bullet is a larger diameter than a .22 caliber pellet. The ..22lr bullet wound fit down the .22 pellet gun barrel. The bullet is too fat. People do use ram set blanks in .22lr from the hardware store to propel pellets out of single shot .22 cal firearms but that’s different. Gun calibers can be confusing. For instance a 44 magnum bullet is actually .429 caliber but that didn’t sound as cool. 😎

    @AlsAirguns Always enjoy your video work Al 👍🍻 A few points to add to this topic if I may... It seems people often struggle to charge these guns and/or have issues with the CO2 leaking when they do...if nothing is wrong with the rifle, this shouldn't happen. Here's how I was taught to operate the QB78 (always worked too): 1. Remove CO2 cap & open the bolt. 2. Insert cartridges. 3. Thread on the cap until tight. 4. Back cap off 1/4 turn, listening closely - you'll hear the front cartridge pierce as you do this. 5. Close the bolt and dry fire the gun - this will pierce the rear cartridge, fully charging the gun. I used to put a drop or two off Rem Oil with Teflon on the piercing pins/tube seals every once in a while & never had trouble, but today, I'd probably use the Pellgun oil or Ballistol instead.. It seems that overall fit and finish of these guns, especially as regards the wood stock quality, has improved significantly since my buddy and I bought our QB78s over twenty years ago.. The main areas of trouble in these gas guns in particular seem to be the seals (always) & the barrels (mostly in the last 10-15 years, due to tooling-wear issues). As I understand it, the QB78 project primarily came about as a collaborative effort between Tim McMurray and, IIRC, a Henry Harn. Tim was unhappy with the high prices being asked for the 160s on the secondary market, especially considering, as he put it, Crosman's "crappy barrels." Since Crosman was sitting idle, they figured they could reverse engineer the gun with better barrel quality at a lower price point... Initially, the guns were built in parts to their specs, and then imported to MAC1 Airguns, where they were assembled & inspected before being sold; the guns were initially labeled QB77 IIRC, and I read a review article on one written by Stephen R. Gibbons in the 1990s Airgun Digest. I did not know that improving CO2 efficiency was one of their design goals, so thanks for that added tidbit Al 😁👍🍻 Anyhow, apparently the Chinese, being the Chinese, eventually reneged on the arrangement, lowering quality standards significantly but also importing the guns in larger quantities at much cheaper prices. This ultimately allowed a cottage industry to develop for the guns that has continued to the present day... Airgunsmiths like CJ Pitts of CO2UNE, Gene Sunday of G&L Airguns, MAC1 themselves and ultimately others as well, flocked to the guns & improved performance and usability substantially for the end customer market 👍 My buddy and I bought tuned QB78s in .22 caliber from the late, great Gene Sunday in 2002-2003; the guns, though roughly hewn, were amazing shooters with great power, triggers, and hunting performance. They would do north of 700 fps on a warm day with lighter pellets, could hit red squirrels reliably at 35+ yards, and got at least 40 good shots on a full charge & in warm weather 😁👍 I sold my gun to a cousin years ago, but it is apparently still going strong, and my buddy's gun is still on the same set of upgraded seals Gene put in over two decades ago 😮😁👍 Gene was a nice guy as well as a talented machinist, and gave a number of other tuners a head start in the industry; his disciples included Robert Werner of "CharlieDaTuna" springer tuning fame, and Mike Mellick who founded Flying Dragon Airguns & became a noted QB78 tuner in his own right. Regarding Industry Brand, it is an older brand name used by Shanghai Airgun Factory, makers of the QB78 series and many piston airguns. According to Tom Gaylord, Shanghai Airgun Factory bought out Beeman from SR Industries in 2009... Tech Force is a sales branding name applied to guns imported and sold by Compasseco, a poorly-regarded but long-running airgun retailer that is now defunct... Sorry for the length here Al, but thanks again for posting & I hope I added at least something to the discussion 😅👍😁🍻 I will be looking forward to Part Two as well 👍

      Awesome contribution brother. That’s precisely the kind of background I enjoy. And it ties together the bit’s and pieces I’d picked up along the way. Thanks for sharing this! @@AlsAirguns Certainly Al...use whatever you think will be helpful 👍🍻 While l can't confirm the authenticity of what I'd heard, I do hope Tim is doing alright regardless - he's certainly no spring chicken anymore 👍 I do know that Mr. McMurray has long held a reputation for being gruff, terse, and sometimes impersonable,; he was also never shy about tooting his own horn based on what I've seen... Of course, capable, intelligent people who are hyper-focused on their passions don't often make the best socialites in my experience, and I suppose the man is due a bit of slack given all he's contributed to the American airgunning community over the years 🍻👍 If I hear anything further on the matter, I'll endeavor to let you know Al 👍 BTW, if you ever have any interest in (or questions about) spring/gas piston airguns, I'd recommend talking to Jon at Keystone Airguns; he's very friendly & knowledgeable on the subject 🍻👍 Additionally, he imports, sells, and tunes Cometa air rifles from Spain. Based on my experience, his tune work is quite good - I bought a pre-tuned Galaxy 220 in .22 caliber from him that I've been wringing out for several months now. I've posted about it over in the airguns group on the bushcraft usa forums, and have even managed to bag a few backyard pests with it 😁👍🍻 I've been trying to upload a review video to my channel on this platform as well, but so far, no joy... Sorry man, I forgot yesterday was Father’s Day. I was busy all day. I’ve been thinking about your gun. You obviously have a seal that is leaking. From the description you gave it sounds like you hear and or feel gas escaping from the breech area. Where you load the pellet. On your gun the entire tube is pressurized when the cartridges are popped. They often leak at the end where you load them. That can be fixed with a common o-ring. If it’s leaking at the breech it could be a couple of o-rings and gas seals around or in the valve. If you’re going to break the gun down that far you may as well replace them all. You can purchase replacement seals and rebuild kits online from Archerair.com Youcan watch a video on how to do so at Walnutandsteel channel on TH-cam. They have a QB78s seal replacement/rebuild video. It’s the same Gunn as yours with a different stock. Before you do any of that put a drop of light machine oil or 30wt motor oil on the top of each co2 capsule before installing them. This lubricates the seals & will sumetimes unstick stuck ones. Let me know what you find.

    I have a 1377 pistol, I acquired an old c02 Ratcatcher. I have removed the barrel, breach and stock from the rat catcher and installed them on the 1377, converting it into a mini rifle. Whilst the 1377 was dismantled I replace the o ring seals on the air cylinder. I have an old Weaver C4w scope fitted to it which allows me to hit 3/4” spinners and silhouette targets at 20 yards. I use JSB 13.43 grain pellets which when tested by my local air gun dealer at 10 pumps he got 550 feet per sec a foot pound reading of 7.38. Though most of the time I only use 4 or 5pumps on my 20 yard garden range. Happy shooting.

    Are you going to get the steel breech later? I’ve been looking at this gun and the beeman chief. Don’t have a lot of money to spare on a pcp. I’m married with 3 kids between the ages of 6-11 and they aren’t cheep lol. I can’t justify spending 500-1000 on a pcp right now. Great video btw.

    • @AlsAirguns
      @AlsAirguns หลายเดือนก่อน

      The word from people I respect is the Beeman is an excellent gun and does come with a steel breech. It’s made of good old wood and blued steel and is available at a price which contradicts its cost of construction. The cost to make versus sales price is only accomplished by a state supported industrial complex. They are definitely an impressive value and have many great features. The Crosman on the other hand is much lighter and in my opinion better handling. If you’re looking to snap shoot small game it, leaps to the shoulder mounting and pointing naturally like it part of you. As you know you need to upgrade/replace the breech if you want to add an optic. Not to tough but not as easy as aging one to a 2240. Of course if you just want to add a dot sight and not change the breech you could add the small rear pic rail that replaces the rear sight. I have a video putting one on a 1377. I have one on my 3622 right now holding a Feyachi dot sight. They’re less $15 and you can switch back to the factory sight whenever you want. Also the Crosman comes with awesome factory and third party support. I think with the Beeman you’ll feel like you got more for your dollar. That being said personally I’d choose the Crosman.

    All weather CO2 gun and I read you can leave it charged long term. I think of it as an alternative to the $100- $300 break barrels in the big box stores, marketed towards first-time airgun buyers. Not really relevant to anyone w a compressor and tank. I won’t be buying one but I’m already invested in PCP. I’d think someone new to the hobby would be better off w a Chief and a handpump. If it’s a big success that’s great! More people enjoying the hobby is always welcome, but I believe this will ultimately flop.

    • @AlsAirguns
      @AlsAirguns หลายเดือนก่อน

      I suspect you’re right about the long term failure of the product. I believe availability and price of the cartridges, particularly availability will be its undoing. You also brought up something I had not considered which is the break-barrel buyers moving to this. I would certainly be easier for them to learn to shoot well than some magnum springer.

    I find the concept interesting, but there is a lot of malcontent around it on some of the review videos. I plan on picking one up, and am curious about potentially going a different direction with it. It has a built in regulator for under $200. How long do you think until there are mods to make it the pcp Umarex is dubbing it as. Of course, most of the complaints I have seen are in the cost of the cartridges, and how expensive it would make a shooting session for them. I think this is the gateway option in Wal-Mart, Cabella's, etc for the occasional plinker. For those who shoot more, I think it might be a nice small game gun to take along when deer/hog hunting, etc. As far as the pcp vs co2 question. It is effectively a redesigned fusion, to take N2 at 3600 psi vs co2 carts. Also, 1/5 of shots of 88g co2 cart for about same price, but at higher power of a pcp. I think that's enough rambling for now from this ole boy.

    • @AlsAirguns
      @AlsAirguns หลายเดือนก่อน

      Totally agree with your thoughts. I’ll probably get one myself for a multitude of reasons. I thought the reason the Fusion 2 was not as popular as it could have been if people had opted to use the 88 gram carts instead of that sketchy 12 gram adapter.

    • @PapaTAdventures
      @PapaTAdventures หลายเดือนก่อน

      @AlsAirguns shot a fusion this weekend (not the 2 I don't think). Or at least I think it was one of the guns I shot... I at least held it because that triangle moderator 😂🤣 If I shot it, it was definitely with 2 co2 not an 88g. I have resisted getting any co2 up until now because I don't want to buy cartridges, but the Komplete will suck me in anyway. Plus there are still some Crosman guns that need to join my family. 😆 Anyway, we'll have to see in July+ when they reach us Gen poppers.

    • @AlsAirguns
      @AlsAirguns หลายเดือนก่อน

      Plus (not saying airguns are a good investment) if it’s a great gun and things end up being cool as far as availability and cost of the N2 cartridges, then it’s a win. If it ends up being an obscure piece of airgun history like the CO2 powered Critter Gitter Pistol from Daisy/Umarex in the 70’s. That .357/9mm CO2 powered shot pistol (single projectile too) was short lived but ultra cool and equally rare, that I’d love to have today.

      @AlsAirguns nice. His airguns are set up for hpa. If you notice he's using nitrogen. Co2 and helium can all be done the same exact way to refill. If changing to a different source just make sure it's completely empty before you filling a different type of air source. They don't and won't tell you this when selling and advertising a airgun. Probably because they want you to buy the disposable nitrogen tanks. With the right adapter the disposable nitrogen tank can actually be refilled to basically a check valve and foster fill adapters on top of a empty tank makes it refillable this also applies to the 88g co2 tanks Once empty you could refill it with any source you like to use. This goes for all hpa airguns they don't care what source you fill it with there design to use anything as a air source. It just not advertised . Hope this was a little easier to grasp and understand 💯👍✌️

    • @AlsAirguns

      There are things it doesn’t have or do. But what it does it does really well. Mine came adjusted to shoot a 14.3 grain Crosman or Benjamin pellet slightly over 700 FPS. That’s really all I need from it & exactly what I was looking for. Also, mine gets every bit of 25 shots per fill. Because I’m used to CO2 guns I’m often aware it’s getting low but just adjust my aim to compensate. When shooting for fun like that 30+ shots often happen. Good luck on your decision & purchase. Be well & thanks for commenting. 👍🏻

    Those low-pro adapters are a Godsend for airgunners! You don't even know they're there once they've been installed. The build looks great! You nailed the real strength of Crosman products: their modularity. Is that one of Alchemy's extended bolts? It looks similar to his work.

      They do off & on with a considerably higher price tag. Woodstocks are more common under their Benjamin brand but synthetic is still a huge percentage. Knowing what I do about Chinese firearm production where massive quantities are produced and inventoried for later distribution and sales decades later. I suspect something similar is at play. I don’t know where to look or how to interpret the production codes but I can’t help but wonder if we are seeing stocks and blued steel components produced in state factories decades ago. Perhaps the 80’s or 90’s. Then they update various components like sights for new models. I noticed even the Chinese have gone synthetic on newer models.
