Pretty much if a shower thought was made into a video... What's your guys favourite character/combo? Note: All those comments about me being bad are just a joke I'm actually really ultra super good...trust me
Light-blue Yoshi, Blue Falcon, Roller Tires, and Paper Glider. For competitive environment, I go with Yoshi, Teddy Buggy, Roller Tires, and Paper Glider.
It's worth mentioning that on Wii U Mario Kart 8, the meta is actually vastly different from 8 Deluxe. Let's see if Rosalina/King Boo/Link survive as the meta lol
I always use the mushrooms because they’re usually pretty good unless someone picks Kalimari Desert. I always get bottom three on that track. Go figure.
My go-to kart combo is always gonna be featherweight bumblevee + rollers + flower glider, offering a more acceleration/mini turbo focus than the meta-defining b-dasher builds while still not really compromising too much on top speed. Flower glider is also just literally the best glider ever. It's an acceleration glider with insane air handling which allows you to take glider cuts better than other gliders
As a veteran of Double Dash since around 2006, I’d say the best character in that game really depends on your skill level. If you want to maintain a consistent 1st place lead I’d personally use Diddy + Bowser Jr./Barrel Train solely because of how ABSURDLY broken their specials are. The Giant Banana and Bowser Shell are essentially upgraded versions of the Banana and Green Shell respectively. Giant Banana basically acts as a wall, completely blocking weaker items without getting destroyed. It also splits into three regular Bananas upon being hit, so a single Giant Banana can hit multiple opponents at once with good positioning. Especially when you factor in its HUGE hurtbox that makes it flat out unavoidable on certain tracks, leading to TONS of cheesy setups like the bridge on DK Mountain. Bowser Shell is functionally identical to the Green Shell, except it goes through opponents after hitting them, and forces them to drop their items (and of course, it’s larger). It’s very effective on narrow straightaways, sometimes being able to pass through an entire line of opponents at once.
Another double dash veteran here! #bringbackdoubledash. While i agree with Diddy, I would personally pass on bowser jr. The giant banana is such a powerful weapon, especially if you spend a lot of time at the front. Not only is it great for protection and for setting traps, but it seemed to be one of the special items that appears more often when you are in the top positions. Some characters special items only seemed to get selected when you were at the back of the pack. But not the giant banana. Diddy kong is deffinately a top choice. You can use donkey kong to get acces to the giant banana, but you want the small character for the acceleration when you inevitably get hit. Diddy is the king of double dash! While bowser jr and the giant shell are fun to play with, they seem to be a lot more inconsistant. They're great to use in narrow corridors but in open areas you could miss and waste the oportunity completely. The shell could also fall down pits and off the side of the track (making it terrible for tracks like rainbow road). It could also rebound and hit you, if I remember right. Good item if you like being an agent of chaos but a bit too inconsistent for my liking. If you're looking for the best partner for Diddy kong, in my opinion, I'd go for toad! The multi mushroom was a great tool for climbing positions and it seemed to appear pretty consistantly for a special item (if you weren't too close to 1st). From my experiance that combo of characters was the best in terms of balancing special items. Use toad's multi mushroom to get you to the front, then switch and use diddy's giant banana to stay there. And why not use toadette? ... Bros before hoes man!
@@arjunbirring778 you might think that, but remember that Petey and King Boo are held back by the fact that they’re heavyweights. And heavyweight karts are generally considered to be not very good
@@arjunbirring778 oh god no. Sure between both of them they got all the special items but it’s random which one. Most of the time you’ll get a yoshi egg or fireball which are “ok” but not great. That and they’re heavyweights and heavyweights suffer with slow acceleration and lackluster speed. Small characters get high acceleration karts where medium karts are kinda average and heavyweights are just heavy. Bowser shell and giant banana are consistent special items that appear frequently regardless of your position in the race. Giant banana is a big trap that splits into 3 smaller pieces once hit by a large object. There are a LOT of tight spaces, jumps, and turns where you can drop them. Bowser shell can be both an offensive and defensive option. Throw ahead to bowl over opponents and if you’re good at aiming do trick shots that make other players panic. Throw it behind for delayed traps. I tossing them behind myself after a turn to catch racers unaware if they’re close.
An important note to say, in mariokart double dash, one of the main reasons the barrel train is the best, is because a technique called "a-tech" (which is releasing acceleration while building an MT), is done the best on vehicles that are thinner. This is because it offers the least amount of "slippery-ness" when doing drifting. That's an other reason to why the bullet train is considered the best kart in the game
As a kid playing Mario Kart Wii, Dry Bowser on the Flame Runner was my main. Literally the only reason it was my main was because I liked the fact that Dry Bowser matched the bike XD And the reason I choose Dry Bowser over normal Bowser was because…. Dry Bowser is just 10x cooler duh lol
I always liked Luigi as a kid, and used the Mach Bike. Little did I know he was actually a top tier character, and Mach Bike was one of the best vehicles in the game. I also liked King Boo and Bowser Jr, so I clearly wasn't a prodigy xd
@@rileysullivan4123Mach bike was just the medium version of the flamerunner, thats why it was viable mostly. Best paired with Daisy if I remember correctly.
The more I play MKDS I've had this theory, the more animation frames a character has the slower it takes to pull off a drift boost, I've seen mods too in which characters have way too much frames of animation when they drift to the point that it takes so long to charge, I may do an experiment on this but I do think Dry Bones has the least animation frames.
@Legend of Kai If I remember right it let's you mini boost when they are done turning their head to whichever side you hold, but specifically the time for mario to turn his head and stop. That time is the same across the board which is what trips people up cuz they're animations are not the same time as Mario so you mess up more trying to go off of a wrong animation time. Rob has proper time aswell as dry bones. With dry bones being slightly off. But this is my years old memory so I may be complete wrong but I'm confident on this answer. I did 100% the whole game campaign and time trials the whole thing.
If i remember correctly for DS, that after you’d complete the entire grand prix mode, you’d be given the option to choose between every single kart as a reward if i’m not mistaken
Yup, did that with my copy and it’s hella fun but I always went for Peach and the dry bomber just because I’d get annoyed easily with the sound bites of the other characters a lot.
An important thing about the special items in Double Dash, is that like normal items, they're weighted based on your placement. So while in a vacuum, something like the chain chomp and gold mushroom might be the best, if you're consistently in the front, you'll never see them. While something like the triple shells and mega banana are still obtainable at the head of the race. I, of course, have no recollection of what the actual weights are for item selection.
Yeah if you want to bag the babies and the toads are incredible, but for frontrunning characters like kongs, bowsers, was, and the princesses are brutal to pass without access to a star
My character combo for DD is always one of the koopas plus Diddy Kong. Diddy Kong's king banana is crazy strong and you can consistently get it in first place. The koopas being able to get three red/green shells consistently in first place is great for protection as well. Not to mention the 3 red shells being helpful for if you get behind and need to catch up.
Yep in 64 heavier drivers have low top speed and light have fastest. Super circuit they changed it back though so heavy drivers have the higher top speed. The speed stat on the character select screen is actually showing acceleration. Just a weird mix up with the international releases
Mario Kart DS... that nostalgia! I used to be very good in MKDS back in the days, like, really good, getting times close to WRs in time trials, although I was too young back then to really become part of the scene. Thanks to snaking, the wear on the buttons was extreme - I went through at least three DSes back then because the shoulder buttons always broke. The "item" stat actually is important only in time trials, as the number of shrooms you get is dependant on it. For some tracks with huge shroom cuts like GBA Sky Garden you definitely want a kart that has a maxed item stat so that you get three shrooms, one for each lap. My main driver was Yoshi back then. While I occasionally used the Egg 1, for some reason I felt more comfortable with his Standard kart. When I needed three shrooms in time trials, I mostly used the cucumber cart. Sometimes I used the Dry Bomber or ROB B.L.S. too, depending on the track. In versus races, I always went with Yoshi and either the Egg 1 or Standard; although sometimes I raced with Bowser in the Tyrant, as I loved abusing this combo's absurd weight to push other drivers off tracks like Rainbown Road with ease.
This is literally me, like I was too obsessed and and young at the time to even realize how good we probably were at Mario Kart DS. Coming close and even having the WR time trial for a couple of days. My thumbs are probably still thicc to this day from all the snaking. All this obsession obviously carried over into Wii too. The drifting was just not as fun.
@@tyronecriss23 Exactly what I felt too. The lack of manual miniturbos in MKW was a huge letdown. But at least snaking was still possible in Double Dash!!.
💯 Mario kart just hasn't hit the same for me since double dash. Though I did enjoy mario kart DS a ton, but besides that exception I didn't really enjoy wii, 7, or 8
Mario Kart Tour sort of does this, for whatever that means. It's kind of unique & neat, although there are certainly distinct stinkers in terms of items... although, that's mainly talking about MKT goals, but I certainly did not see anybody choosing bubble characters in multiplayer. What a waste of a special item idea...
@@alejandrolopez2577Ikr, personally i enjoyed playing DS and Wii, then after i tried out 7 the game just got so much more staler and boring i stopped being a MKFan after that, i wish i was around when Double Dash was a thing. 😭

Just want to point that that the GLA tires are just as good as the roller for MK8D. You just mainly got to pair them up with a medium weight. The classic example being like Mario Teddy GLA tires. It not only offers the minor but still optimal-er stats, but more importantly GLA tires offer a huge invincibility stat, which the roller tires lack. Its arguably stronger than Luigi Inkstriker That being said, my main combo is Rosa Teddy Rollers cause im a Rosa loyalist since MKWii
The DS section explains so much to me. When we were kids my sister absolutely dominated with Yoshi in the Egg 1 and snaking. She figured out snaking completely independently from the internet. I only found out in recent years that snaking was a thing in DS. I found out in recent months that my sister just figured out snaking on her own. Which explains why she dominated so much. Finding out the Egg 1 is one of the best is DS also explains things. I’ve also realised while we were playing DS people were arguing and complaining about snaking on the internet at the time. A lot of this comes from talking about MK8DX with her in recent months.
Hey, great video! I just have one problem. Vanilla MK8 had a different meta and different techniques that make distinct enough imo to talk about it separate from MK8D. Of course if you don't think so that's fine, but just something I wanted to bring up.
in mario kart 7, you're actively hurting yourself if you don't use monster/red monster wheels. they have such good offroad that you can hold a drift in most offroad areas.
8:11 Do you know that on the original Nintendo DS only, you can hear Mario saying ‘’Yahoo!’’ instead of ‘’Here we go!’’ on the other DS models, 3DS and emulators when you start Mario Kart DS?
For MK:DD, I used the Toad/Paratroopa combo in the Barrel Train always. Toad's Golden Mushroom was great for defensive evading and getting caught up/taking shortcuts while Paratroopa's shells were my offense.
My favorite pic In the game was Yoshi/Birdo; Yoshi/Diddy; Yoshi/Waluigi with the Yoshi or Birdo kart. The Yoshi/Birdo eggs had the chance for a Star to drop; Diddy & Waluigi were for whackiness x) The Birdo Kart was 4 stars heavy, which helped a lot to withstand most karts. If not, It was for the Yoshi Kart for Its acceleration & relevant weight.
I remember getting smoked by a metal mario + b dashser + monster wheels in mk7 when i was younger, so i switched to the combo myself, but with the red monsters. I had no idea that because it had the best speed in the game it was the current meta, but I remember seeing other racers quickly adopting the same build XD
I remember destroying lobbies full of metal Marios with Wario+bruiser+slick tires. The combination was a bit hard to use, but it had a tiny bit more top speed than the meta-slave build and could outpace them with enough skill. The key was to compensate for poor handling by pulsing the brakes in drifts and then leave everybody in the dust on straightaways.
There's actually a BIG variable to take into account with Toad and Koopa in SMK- their _rivals._ Super Mario Kart had a REALLY rigid rival system where depending on what character you pick, the "problem racers" that always seem to be in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. will be the same: Luigi, then Yoshi for Koopa, and Princess, then DK for Toad. Pair that with how the CPU characters constantly spam one specific item depending on what character they are rather than getting random items from ? tiles like you do, and you can really draw some lines in the sand: Luigi spams Stars whenever he's nearby, which instantly make him a lethal threat if you so much as touch him that'll drop you to a dead standstill and spin you out, while Princess instead lobs Mini Mushrooms forward that, while still dangerous if you hit one and then get flattened, are easy enough to avoid (and don't IMMEDIATELY screw you if you DO hit one). Admittedly things get a bit muddy when you compare Yoshi and Donkey Kong- Yoshi lobs Eggs, which will instantly halt your speed and spin you out, while DK throws Bananas that only spin you out... but on the other hand, DK is significantly _heavier_ than Yoshi, which can cause a lot of problems if he starts trying to muscle you off the tracks. Things get even MORE blurry when you take into account how your rival can _change mid-circuit_ if someone other than your top rival places 2nd... There's more strategy and variance than you might expect 💦
My most played has been on the wii. I usually used a medium character with the bike. Sharp handling. I almost got to 9000 points online but never actually got there. Great memories
Nah you missed a very important detail for double dash. The mega banana from DK was the only special that you could still get at first place. And that makes it the best item in the game imo. It doesn't break from shells so it's good defensively, and you can put them on boosts, jumps and tight cornes to make it really hard for second place to catch up. So you got to get diddy kong in your team for ez wins
You could get others in first but the DK banana had the highest probability special in first, triple shells and Bowser shells are also available in first with decent odds
This is a fantastic breakdown, I’ve always been a DK main and my current build is him, the Flame Rider, the regular glider, and the white slim tires. Something about DK on a bike just tickles me lol
Diddybuggy is amazing aesthetically sure but statistically Diddybuggy isn't close, sacrificing 3 speed for 1 miniturbo, or in the case of the new meta, Yoshi Mr. Scooty, 1 speed for the same minturbo sadly
Fun fact: in MK8/D there are a few different character/kart combinations where the visible stats are the same across the board, such as Luigi/Iggy, Mach 8, Standard tires, Cloud Glider and Tanooki Mario/Male Villager/Inkling Boy, Inkstriker, Standard Tires, Super Glider. These combinations are perfectly balanced, as all things should be…. Or rather, they were. Unfortunately, after the Wave 4 update, all of these combinations are now mostly balanced, with a slightly higher top speed, but still from what I can find are the closest you can get to perfectly balanced stats.
For me personally, I tend to not worry about what's the best character or kart in each game and just tend to play what I like... which has accidentally resulted in me playing the meta but uh. For the games I've actually played a decent amount of my preferred character and vehicle combos are DS: Dry Bones - Dry Bomber Wii: Funky Kong - Flame Runner / Daisy - Mach Bike / Baby Luigi - Bullet Bike 7: Wiggler - Barrel Train - Roller - Swooper 8: Ludwig - The Duke - Azure Roller - Cloud 8DX: Funky Kong / Wiggler / Rosalina / Waluigi - Wild Wiggler - Azure Roller - Cloud
One more thing worth mentioning is that in MKWii, good acceleration isn’t really useful because of standstill mini turbos, so despite the flame runner having the worst acceleration in all the bikes, it doesn’t make much of a difference.
I find Paratroopa and Yoshi/Birdo to be a good combination in double dash. Yoshi/Birdo can get an egg in first place and if you toss it forward will just follow the normal path of the road. It drops 3 random different items of which could be a bob-omb, banana peel, mushroom and star. It’s the only way to be in first place, use an item and get a star since better items can be obtain the lower place you’re in.
My favorite combo in double dash was King boo/Petey with the parade kart. Parade kart has better (on-screen) stats than the barrel train (not sure if actually better, I just liked how it looked). Also Petey and King Boo had access to all the characters specials. In last place-pull a chain chomp. In first place pull Bowser shell and Giant banana for defense. In second or third pull those triple shells.
There is an actual list with all the internal stats that vehicles use. The parade kart has very similar stats to warios main kart but is slightly better in some areas. In the end what matters is personal preference tough. I preffered the bullet blaster over the barrel train with lightweights and with heavyweights i preffered the boo pipes
I find it baffling that lightweights have high top speed in Mario Kart 64. Growing up in the '90s I used to play as Yoshi a lot and then I switched to wario who actually was the character I used to play as the most first so I kind of switch back and forth, but I played it again on switch via the online service that includes N64 games and I tried playing as toad and I just kept finding that the CPU would just keep catching up to me which gave me the impression that he really had no top speed like at all so I didn't bother playing as Toad anymore. Nowadays I like to replay the classic Mario karts I grew up with now available on switch by switching around between different characters. I'm glad to see that my favorite from Super Mario Kart Koopa is the best.
Wow I looked up, "Meta cart in every mario cart game," entirely expecting to get not get a result. So glad you made this video. I was curious, as a mario cart switch player that has never played older vertions, why people chose the charcters they do in speed runs etc for the older games. Now I know! The light carts in 64 are just broken and the medium carts are trash!
I’ve had a very unrealistic and possibly unattainable vision in my head for a while. The ultimate mariokart game. Multiplayer/time trials only. Every game in the series. You can climb up the ranks of a specific game or on the general leaderboard, which has a pool of all the games. There could be organized grand prix, both competitive and friendlies, either focusing on a couple games or having one race from each. It could even become an esport. It would be so fun, the skill ceiling would be so high, having to learn so many different types of racing. And it wouldn’t be hard to pick up at a basic level, it’s just mariokart at the end of the day.
As someone who's spent a little too much time playing thse games, the best DS combo id dry bones(or honestly pretty much any character) with the egg1. It's just the most reasonable to get consistent value in online play, despite the BLS being better for time trials. Besides that pick the rest if your picks are pretty debatably true.
Your Mario Kart Double Dash choices are insane! For any compitent player (a player who spends most of the race up front) the best combo is Diddy kong driving, toad as item thrower. Use toad's multi mushroom to GET to the front. Switch characters. Then use diddy kong's big banana to STAY at the front. Anyone disagree?
Regarding MKDS, a few clarifications - - the Acceleration stat influences how long your mini boost lasts, which i believe is a big reason why a lot of people gravitate toward the dry bomber, since it clearly lasts the longest per boost - the speed stat influences how fast you go during your boost, which is why a lot of the world records go for the rob-bls, since a lot of the snaking routes seem to have been perfected (so they know when and how to maximize the amount of boosts on the track) - the acceleration stat also influences how fast you go over rough terrain, as I recall the dry bomber had a time trial record in a track or two by doing exactly this a lot I was one of the people who'd argue Egg over Dry Bomber for what its worth because of this information, but the rob-bls is better for more optimized play anyway
acceleration and MT are completely separate stats internally. you can verify this by testing a trash light kart like the light tripper against the BLS. light tripper > BLS in acceleration but only has 45 MT frames (.75s) compared to the BLS's 56 frames (.933s). similarly, off-road is also its own stat and has nothing to do with acceleration. it's just a case of the best karts happening to have high acceleration and not the stat itself really doing anything. it's really between egg and BLS as to which is the best kart. dry bomber isn't really in the conversation and is only best on a few tracks. BLS has more time trial world records, but struggles significantly on many courses that it doesn't have the WR on due to its bad cornering. meanwhile, egg 1 is a superior all-rounder and has arguably no course where it performs poorly, still has a fair share of time trial WRs and is the best choice for a full run of all 32 tracks.
@@tuluflulu yeah there's much more of a correlation between handling and those stats. but there are still lots of exceptions (waluigi's karts and peach's karts have the same offroad despite the former having better handling), and MT length decreases drastically for "large" karts that have 3 shrooms in time trials regardless of the raw handling stat
I think a video on The Titanic Rise of Mario Kart would be really cool. It was always a very good seller, but ever since Mario Kart DS, the series’s popularity exploded, to the point where they’ve blown past the main platformers in terms of popularity.
Double Dash's special items also have a rarity depending on how good they are. Chain-chomps are arguably the best special, but also the most rare. You average 2 per race, compared to 4 Giant Bananas. In (rough) order of rarity for light specials: Chain-chomps, Golden Mushroom, Bowser shell, Giant Banana, Triple Shell (I believe, I never use Koopas). You can only get the special item related to the rider in the back when you get an item box (excluding double item boxes). So as long as you don't have an item being held, switch around your characters for whichever item you hope to get. So if you're behind you can switch back toad/baby mario or if you're ahead you can have diddy, b jr, or koopa ready to throw backwards and defend yourself from red shells. For this reason, I generally advise having two different characters, rather than just doubling your odds of getting one specific special. While Chainchomps are the best overall item, they have some drawbacks that makes me advise picking Golden shrooms over them. Besides just the rarity, you are not in-control of a chomp, so you can't take shortcuts with it. On some courses this is really huge, especially Yoshi's circuit since you need a mushroom for both shortcuts and they save some really good time. The chain can also break on tight turns, and while experienced drivers tend to avoid this, it can really hurt if you mess it up. On very rare circumstances it can make you fly off the stage on tight turns. Because of its rarity you really have to make good use of it, but a blue shell or lightning are unavoidable, so you can lose your special on bad timing. Golden Shroom is just more common and consistent. You don't need an item to steer for you, and you can steal other people's items with it. To pair with Golden Shroom I suggest a defensive item. Triple shell is probably the best to block up to 3 red shells, although if you want to be aggressive Bowsershell is my go-to.
This is straight up wrong, special items can only obtained on certain positions. If you are first place you will never see a chain chomp and if you are last you will never see a giant banana.
I remember the days of MK8 (Wii U) where all i saw were Mortons in Karts as the overwhelming majority of my opponents. Often times in the Pipe Kart and Blue Falcon.

What's interesting is that in most games I'm a heavy user, Dry Bowser in MK8D and use him extremely effectively, and it retroactively changed what I play in older games too. But in super circuit I've only ever found success with Toad, which makes this video humorous to me. Not that I've played a ton of it recently or with other people
I will mention that there is some tracks in wii where daisy is better, the main issue daisy mach bike is being lighter, also you should've seperated mk8 and deluxe, because obviously the wii u has been abandoned and isn't getting updated, so it has the old meta
It's worth mentioning that in MKWII one of the reasons why the Flame Runner is so good is because of the stand still mini turbo. The bike has low acceleration but you can just SSMT making it equivalent to a much higher acceleration vehicle than it is. Only with a high enough acceleration stat would you actually not want to SSMT.
In MKDS, I definitely remember that after being the entire Grand Prix you can give every single character any type of kart, including the tiny ones iirc, so that could maybe change things

Another reason in my opinion why the Barrel Train was so good in DoubleDash is that it has the tendency to be launched (aggressively) forward when hit compared to other karts, sometimes even barely slowing down before you get control again, so not only was it fast it also wasn't as hindered by getting hit as much as other low acceleration karts.
i think you should make a sequel to this video after the booster course pass finishes, also just me but i think the booster course pass isn't going to end this year with the 6 waves but just me
As for Mario Kart Tour, there are no stats like this written anywhere in the game, so you just have to guess… some people say all the karts have the same stats with the only difference being the drivers weight, and others believe all the karts have there own stats. Oh and my favourite all time MK is the DS… basically for the reasons you gave in this video… Dry Bones with Dry Bomber was my favourite combo.
11:35 The only source I have EVER seen referring to inside and outside drifting bikes as "drift" and "hang on" is MarioWiki, so I assume that's where you did your research.
I’d say that for Super Mario Kart, you also need to consider the Default CPU’s that will always be on your ass. Since each one has unique cheat skills they use when near you. I’ve personally always found the Mario Bros to be the most obnoxious CPU racers, since whenever you get near them they turn on the Super Star… which is a problem, especially if it hits you. And while Peach and Toad have Poison Mushrooms to shrink you, I think it’s way better than the Mario Bros. And Since Koopa Troopa has Luigi as the Top Rival and Toad has Peach. I’d give Toad the Advantage
I've been having fun with Varmint, Wood Tires and Cloud Glider recently on a medium weight, mostly Luigi or a Mii. But my main combo, Tri-Speeder, GLA Tires, and Cloud Glider with Baby Weegee holds up pretty well too. Granted I have gotten stuck in a pack due to getting hit with unlucky items while pushing up online on occasion using the latter, but I still enjoy them both
mk7 player here, metal mario + b-dasher + red monster/monster + any glideris definitely the best for online. speed is incredibly important and although the red monster tires don’t provide as much speed as the slick wheels, they’re very close in speed and make it up for their insane offroad capabilities, allowing for many crazy shroomless shortcuts while maintaining a crazy top speed. acceleration is semi-important but if you ever get it, building a bit of speed and charging a mini turbo gets you back to full speed nearly instantly
Pretty much if a shower thought was made into a video...

Awesome breakdown! And super cool to hear it from a vet of the game.
However how about king boo and piranha ? Wouldint they be the best as well considering that they can receive any ones special item in random?

Pretty solid theory, would be cool to see the results if you do end up doing the experiment.
If you do this experiment do let me know, Ive started speedrunning the game and at this point any millisecond is helpful lol

If i remember correctly for DS, that after you’d complete the entire grand prix mode, you’d be given the option to choose between every single kart as a reward if i’m not mistaken
this, of course, is why Dry Bones/ROB-BLS is the best combo
I thought in Mario Kart 64, Heavier drivers have slower top speeds while lighter drivers have faster top speeds, like in Super Circuit.

Mario Kart Tour sort of does this, for whatever that means. Its arguably stronger than Luigi Inkstriker
That being said, my main combo is Rosa Teddy Rollers cause im a Rosa loyalist since MKWii

GLA tires are also the best-looking in the game.

For MK:DD, I used the Toad/Paratroopa combo in the Barrel Train always. Toad's Golden Mushroom was great for defensive evading and getting caught up/taking shortcuts while Paratroopa's shells were my offense.
I use the same as you, but instead of Toad, i pick Toadette
My favorite pic In the game was Yoshi/Birdo; Yoshi/Diddy; Yoshi/Waluigi with the Yoshi or Birdo kart.
The Yoshi/Birdo eggs had the chance for a Star to drop; Diddy & Waluigi were for whackiness x)
The Birdo Kart was 4 stars heavy, which helped a lot to withstand most karts.
That's why Koopa the best.
Luigi can't throw stuff while he's eating my dust. 😂

As of today, the strongest combo in MK8 Deluxe is Yoshi Teddy Buggy with rollers and parachute. Diddybuggy is a good 2nd place.

For the games I've actually played a decent amount of my preferred character and vehicle combos are
DS: Dry Bones - Dry Bomber
Wii: Funky Kong - Flame Runner / Daisy - Mach Bike / Baby Luigi - Bullet Bike
7: Wiggler - Barrel Train - Roller - Swooper
8: Ludwig - The Duke - Azure Roller - Cloud
8DX: Funky Kong / Wiggler / Rosalina / Waluigi - Wild Wiggler - Azure Roller - Cloud
holy crap what an amazing video
One more thing worth mentioning is that in MKWii, good acceleration isn’t really useful because of standstill mini turbos, so despite the flame runner having the worst acceleration in all the bikes, it doesn’t make much of a difference.
This video is such high quality man. If you are consistent with videos your channel will become huge 👊

The feather cart combo you mentioned for MK7 was exactly what I rocked when I used to play. Shy Guy, B-dasher, Mushrooms
The lightweights in double dash are strong…but king boo and Petey are on another level. You know those special items? They can use ALL OF THEM.
Some would rate paratroopa over toad but Diddy is correct for sure.
Regarding MKDS, a few clarifications -
- the Acceleration stat influences how long your mini boost lasts, which i believe is a big reason why a lot of people gravitate toward the dry bomber, since it clearly lasts the longest per boost
- the speed stat influences how fast you go during your boost, which is why a lot of the world records go for the rob-bls, since a lot of the snaking routes seem to have been perfected (so they know when and how to maximize the amount of boosts on the track)
- the acceleration stat also influences how fast you go over rough terrain, as I recall the dry bomber had a time trial record in a track or two by doing exactly this a lot
I was one of the people who'd argue Egg over Dry Bomber for what its worth because of this information, but the rob-bls is better for more optimized play anyway
acceleration and MT are completely separate stats internally. you can verify this by testing a trash light kart like the light tripper against the BLS. light tripper > BLS in acceleration but only has 45 MT frames (.75s) compared to the BLS's 56 frames (.933s). similarly, off-road is also its own stat and has nothing to do with acceleration. it's just a case of the best karts happening to have high acceleration and not the stat itself really doing anything.
it's really between egg and BLS as to which is the best kart. dry bomber isn't really in the conversation and is only best on a few tracks.
I've found that off-road and miniturbos tend to pair with th handling stat, more than anything else.
How and why is that?
At 3:15 you say heavyweights have the fastest top speed, but then show they are tied with midweights and slower than lightweights. 🤔
Why has no one found this lmao
Shy guy with the bDasher and mushroom wheels was coincidentally the same kart combo I discovered as a kid.
Before the new Deluxe meta, I actually used King Boo/Cat Cruiser/Rollers and Cloud Glider a lot. So yeah
I've got Gold Shrooms as high as 3rd place.
I was searching for this for weeks

the piranha pipes, bullet blaster, barrel train & dk jumbo are all faster than the parade kart even though they all have a 4 star speed stat
the bloom coach & waluigi racer both have better acceleration than the parade kart even though they all have a 3 star acceleration stat
the dk jumbo is heavier than the parade kart even though they both have a 4 star weight stat
There are Super Mario Kart World Championships and it's always DK Jr. vs. Bowser for a reason. :D
I used to have a copy of Mario Kart super circuit and I loved it a lot lol, one of my most played GBA games besides Mega Man Battle Network 3. I would stay up all night on school nights just playing them lol. Sad to say I don't have them anymore....
Mario Kart DS, me and my friends used to grind this game everyday during summer school. We all used ROB and his kart or ROB and Dry Bomber.
6:20 Pretty strange to think that Double Dash turns 20 years old this year!😲
What's interesting is that in most games I'm a heavy user, Dry Bowser in MK8D and use him extremely effectively, and it retroactively changed what I play in older games too.
That's Interesting to know :o
Does the Wii U version still run online?
I don’t agree with everything you said, but the video was very well-made.
My Mario Kart 7 Combination:
Bowser, B Dasher, Monster Wheels And Swooper
And my Mario Kart 8 Combination:
Bowser, Flame Rider, Monster Wheels And Bowser Kite
My Mario Kart DS Combination: Bowser And Tyrant Kart
My Mario Kart Wii Combination: Bowser/Dry Bowser And Bowser Bike
And My Mario Kart: Double Dash Combination: Bowser JR, Bowser And Koopa King Kart
You gave me Vietnam flashbacks including that mkwii dk mountain clip at the end
Get Mario Karted
Algorithme got me here, good luck for your channel, really good video
Thanks so much!
i think you should make a sequel to this video after the booster course pass finishes, also just me but i think the booster course pass isn't going to end this year with the 6 waves but just me
Definitely will think about it
I remember always using Koopa trooper with the plane kart, sponge wheels and the base blue paraglider in Mariokart 7
Awesome breakdown! Thanks for sharing
Nice vid!
King Boo, Petey and Golden Car: Are we a joke to you?
I remember when I chose Funky with the flame runner as a kid without knowing how good it was 😂
Dry Bones on DS was my favorite on MKDS, ever since he's been my favorite non main character in Mario games, his drifts was so much fun to do
the meta! yoshi teddy i mean come on its not like you go online and say "no yoshi today."
1:13 I like how they call Yoshi "The Dragon", even though he's a dinosaur.🤣🐲🦖
My Opinion.
Super: Bowser
64: Yoshi
Super Circuit: Bowser
Double Dash: Baby Mario & Princess Peach
DS: Dry Bones, Dry Bomber
Wii: Funky Kong, Flame Runner
7: Metal Mario, B Dasher, Red Wheels, Peach Parasol
8: Yoshi, Teddy Buggy, Roller, Cloud
You didn’t mention the Wii U game, which entirely changes the stats of each kart from the Switch copy.
