Yeah man, there are some 20+ year old games that I'm not sure are available in a physical cassette anymore, but I can download the game from internet for free. I think the best way to preserve a game is to make it available on PC.

Personally exclusive is what keeps consoles in the industry because for me i play rainbow and I’m about to transition to pc but i would buy a ps5 as a side gaming system for a pc if a nice exclusive game came on the ps5

@@datelessdark4763 I agree and in part I don't, because even with emulation the games are never 100% correct, even with high end pc's. Look at the PS2 emulators, you have to do a LOT of tinkering just to have the game running properly, and many with glitches. I play everything on PC, literally. However, I would own a console just for those few exclusives. There's something odd about the consoles idk. I can play contra on the emulator and, although it runs smoothly, with crisp images, I can play 5 hours of it in an original NES but get bored in 10 minutes on the emulator

Consoles are basically streamlined simplified pc's designed for a singular purpose. My first consoles/pc's as a young child was a TI-99 which was cartridge based but you could connect it to 5 1/4 floppy drives etc. and a Tandy 16k which ran games on a casette tape drive. My first purely console system was the NES. My parents then got a 486sx 33mhz I believe and then an overdrive 100mhz. Eventually when I was ten I got a paper route and bought my own computer and I don't even remember what it was now it was Intel though 🤣 Quake beta was crazy over dial up and the mods.
I'm actually building a pc right now for the first time and I've been out of the pc realm for awhile. Montech Air x case, 10700k Intel processor,Arctic liquid cooler 2 240 don't think a 280 fits in my case, gigabyte z490 aorus elite, evga750 watt modular psu, 32 gb of 3600mhz ram, 2tb barracuda, haven't decided on what m2 to run probably 500gb or 1tb and I wanted a 3080 but I couldn't get one obviously so I'll probably just get a cheaper place holder card for now.

@Phil Mike Hunt I always got a PlayStation 4 for Granturismo, but the PlayStation 4 can't stop dying every year and Granturismo sucks now. It's also been collecting a lot of dust since I got a PC I can game on, and I mean my current PS4 is close to dying it's having the same issue as 2 others had.

@Phil Mike Hunt nah PS4 just has really bad quality, the Xbox one S is still doing fine, and it stands in the same spot, depends what's in use really, and none of my computer I have some like 10 years old have any issues at all. The worst I had with my computer is windows 10 ending its own life, and me needing to reinstall it. I mean I even have more trust in the Dreamcast with a disc reader that's in it last legs than the PS4 I literally have more confidence in the NES from like 1986 I have than the PS4. It's just bad quality, not just reliability wise but also power wise the PS4 is pathetically weak, the Xbox one isn't that great either but atleast good enough for 30fps at around 900P while the PS4 struggles for mid 20fps 900p with the turbo mode on. ( not sure what the exact resolution is but most stuff doesn't play at 1080p on current gen consoles). I'm not shitting on the PS4 for the sake of shitting on it, but because most 10+ year old hardware will last far longer, be a lot cheaper, play at atleast double the fps probably 3-4 times the fps on high settings (were the PS4 plays on low-medium ish, probably mostly medium). And that for less money. The value is just ass, it doesn't play games well doesn't last long and doesn't have that many games, it's kinda eh, some games are decent and actually manage 30fps. But a lot of them play at 15-20 without the turbo mode ( or whatever it's called, so it's literally unplayable), the PS4 is so incredibly loud, psn +, it doesn't look good but I guess that's more subjective, I just wish it wouldn't have been such a disappointment and atleast try to be semi decent.

As someone who has been a PlayStation guy for all my life and will get PS5, I’m honestly really against exclusives, games should not be exclusive to one platform. Everyone no matter the platform should be able play em. One of my favorite games of 2019 was Ace Combat 7 which was originally going to be exclusive to PS4 but ended up going multi-platform instead which made me happy. Because not only is it getting the game in more hands it’s also more money being made for the team that made it. It’s a win win in my book. I don’t understand the mentality of people like him. It’s ridiculous. Makes those of us who prefer console over pc look like idiots.
There is a case for platform exclusivity though. Essentially, you need to write a whole new code from platform to platform, which takes time and money. However, I will say that Sony's decision to ban crossplay was an absolute mistake.
Some games don't go exclusive because of deals made by the platform holder, some go exclusive because of budget constraints to port to other platforms or they're past games didn't sell well on that platform.
I don't understand why you think that 1st party exclusives, meaning games made by the console manufacturer, shouldn't be exclusive to their hardware. I could understand if you mean games by 3rd party developers being exclusive, like Yakuza games, but 1st party exclusives like God of War, Day's Gone and Everybody's Golf are fair game to me, since they are made by the same company that makes the hardware that the game is made for.

@@silentlore2458 actually PC gaming makes more than consoles do. Now if you take all consoles combined that's a lot and makes more than PC alone, but individually? No PC has consoles best. Take a look at statistics for 2019 on the gaming market. I posted a link in a comment earlier today. Consoles ( combined) made around 47 billion I think. PC by itself made 35 or 36 billion. ( number may not be fully accurate, but you get the idea). If console exclusive games go to PC this is why. Console manufacturers know they would make more money, and probably would have less chance of PC gamers emulating games. While there are legal methods they know we can and they don't like it because it's true. Many PC gamers are scummy. This is a low percentage, but games get thrown onto the internet and they cannot stop them all. But we PC that just want to game do emulate the right way and only for personal use and after the life cycle ends.

There are many games out there now and there will most likely come again some new game that I want, but not an exclusive unlike the former one. @@akaiyoru2681 PC has so many games there's no reason to worry about not having anything to play. I only missed the Halo games from back when they were on PC, but now they're all being ported anyway. Nintendo consoles are the only ones that actually go for a different market, so that's the only experience you can't get better on PC, only because you can't get it on PC at all. But then I have Morrowind on my phone, which practically makes the Switch irrelevant too.

I was a console gamer for 30 years and have just stated playing on PC a month ago after building my own rig. This guy had no idea how hard it is to game on a PC. Using a keyboard and mouse takes lots of real work, real movements. So if a PC gamer is an "elitist" they worked they're 10 fingers to the bone to learn muscle memory for the games, unlike concole gamers that use 4 fingers.

Games come out and 80% of the game is in a day one update......You need to install and update the game on xbox unless you just play offline. Don't act like on console you get to come home with the disc and immediately play.

He kind of forgot retrocompatibility is kind of better and saving a lot of oldies from being forgotten. And emulazion too. Things like Mame or 8-16 bit console from mid nineties would have been forgotten if not for PC emulation due to il's hardware failing and all, console wise they are kind of reporpousing those just recently cause all that PC retrogaming kept that relevant

Just had a talk with a coworker, there are gonna still be those parents or folks that don't want to spend 1k-3k on a setup so a console is much easier to get. I myself have a switch, PC and an Xbox so... I have 0 issues with exclusives on PC. Makes me feel like my PC is gaining more value.
srsly though, my pc is exactly like it was when my dad bought it for my 16th or 17th birthday, more than 10 years ago (except two graphics card upgrades). my dad literally spent less than 900 €. i can play everything from diablo 2 to doom 4 on high settings without issues. having to spend AT LEAST 1 k on a decent pc for gaming is nothing but a myth. i mean, to be fair, i will likely have to upgrade soon because now there are a few games that i actually won't be able to play, but still, that's 900 € for over 10 years of gaming.

@Darth Wheezius I agree for the most part. Console gaming died for me the second that plug'n'play nature fell away. You used to insert the disc and play instantly, now you have 1-3 hour downloads on day 1 just to start the game. How is that faster when my pc has a better internet connection?

Consoles are easy to start on, but Steam Big Picture and wireless controllers are a good gateway drug to glorious PCMR :P All platforms deserve Skyrim mods, not all get them. If monopoly/exclusivity is seen as a benefit or necessity, it is of no use arguing with people :D PC gamers endorse games on all platforms, they just choose one over the other :)
Exclusivity ensures survival of ones product and sadly the consumer gets dragged into this.. this is a necessary evil for the companies. Even on pc there is exclusivity seen(steam and epic ig, im not really sure)

I agree Consoles are locked to 60 fps usually i believe, Games like red dead 2 makes consoles become a jet plane and start screaming in pain. @@johnwerner6445 Actually no. What's on the disc is the final build of the game. It's not source code, it's a compiled executable. Source code is just a bunch of text files. They have to be run through a compiler which creates an executable binary which the OS can run. It might not always be possible to reverse engineer the source code from a final build. It's common practice to make it incredibly tough or impossible to do so to protect software IPs. But Square loosing their own source code is another level of stupid. If an IP is valuable thought, there will mostly be multiple copies/repositories of the source. It's bad software development.

And the DS handhelds. And the experimental things Nintendo does with consoles. If it wasn't for those things, I would have hated & abandoned Nintendo, much sooner. And it's a double-edged sword. Apparently, the reason why there hasn't been a new F-Zero game, is because Nintendo will not make a new game, unless they can attach some gimmick to it, like motion-controls, or a tablet. All F-Zero needs, is better graphics, better framerates, online multiplayer, buildable tracks & vehicles. But that's not good enough for Nintendo. If they can't make us play it in a new way, then they won't make the game. This maybe the same reason, why we don't have a new Metroid game. Other then the best 3DS model, I will never buy another Nintendo system. Never again. Just like all the xbox consoles, and Sony consoles after the PS2. All the Nintendo stuff, after the 3DS & Wii, are dead to me. Breath of the Wild, and other exclusives, failed to make me get a Switch. I'm not doing this shit anymore. correction: consoles HAD their place in the gaming world, back when going at a friend's house was the best and easiest way to play games together, and games could randomly decide to NOT work on your PC for no apparent reason (evern refusing to install): A console game would always work on console, no question asked. But these advantages from consoles have faded away by now: playing online is far easier, and technical issues far less numerous.. and as a bonus, a computer is both a gaming AND a communication and work tool: same as why mobile gaming makes so much money compared to most portable consoles (although here portable consoles still clearly have a place, seeing as 99% of mobile games are crappy, blatant cash grabs with no quality)
Cannot agree with you more, consoles HAD their place, but they no longer aren't the top dog in the industry. Now PC's have much more usage, and are much more practical than consoles. And you can often get better performance with them than consoles in the 3-400$ price point.

It’s funny because even with slow internet on a pc your game will download faster. You have faster storage, faster cpu, faster ram, which all of that combined makes the system unpack all of the information faster and write it to your storage quicker.

@@datelessdark4763 I agree and in part I don't, because even with emulation the games are never 100% correct, even with high end pc's. Look at the PS2 emulators, you have to do a LOT of tinkering just to have the game running properly, and many with glitches.
I play everything on PC, literally. However, I would own a console just for those few exclusives. There's something odd about the consoles idk. I can play contra on the emulator and, although it runs smoothly, with crisp images, I can play 5 hours of it in an original NES but get bored in 10 minutes on the emulator

Consoles are basically streamlined simplified pc's designed for a singular purpose. My first consoles/pc's as a young child was a TI-99 which was cartridge based but you could connect it to 5 1/4 floppy drives etc. and a Tandy 16k which ran games on a casette tape drive. My first purely console system was the NES. My parents then got a 486sx 33mhz I believe and then an overdrive 100mhz. Eventually when I was ten I got a paper route and bought my own computer and I don't even remember what it was now it was Intel though 🤣 Quake beta was crazy over dial up and the mods.
I'm actually building a pc right now for the first time and I've been out of the pc realm for awhile. Montech Air x case, 10700k Intel processor,Arctic liquid cooler 2 240 don't think a 280 fits in my case, gigabyte z490 aorus elite, evga750 watt modular psu, 32 gb of 3600mhz ram, 2tb barracuda, haven't decided on what m2 to run probably 500gb or 1tb and I wanted a 3080 but I couldn't get one obviously so I'll probably just get a cheaper place holder card for now.

@Phil Mike Hunt I always got a PlayStation 4 for Granturismo, but the PlayStation 4 can't stop dying every year and Granturismo sucks now.

@Phil Mike Hunt nah PS4 just has really bad quality, the Xbox one S is still doing fine, and it stands in the same spot, depends what's in use really, and none of my computer I have some like 10 years old have any issues at all.
The worst I had with my computer is windows 10 ending its own life, and me needing to reinstall it.
I mean I even have more trust in the Dreamcast with a disc reader that's in it last legs than the PS4 I literally have more confidence in the NES from like 1986 I have than the PS4.
It's just bad quality, not just reliability wise but also power wise the PS4 is pathetically weak, the Xbox one isn't that great either but atleast good enough for 30fps at around 900P while the PS4 struggles for mid 20fps 900p with the turbo mode on. ( not sure what the exact resolution is but most stuff doesn't play at 1080p on current gen consoles).
I'm not shitting on the PS4 for the sake of shitting on it, but because most 10+ year old hardware will last far longer, be a lot cheaper, play at atleast double the fps probably 3-4 times the fps on high settings (were the PS4 plays on low-medium ish, probably mostly medium). And that for less money.
The value is just ass, it doesn't play games well doesn't last long and doesn't have that many games, it's kinda eh, some games are decent and actually manage 30fps. But a lot of them play at 15-20 without the turbo mode ( or whatever it's called, so it's literally unplayable), the PS4 is so incredibly loud, psn +, it doesn't look good but I guess that's more subjective, I just wish it wouldn't have been such a disappointment and atleast try to be semi decent.

As someone who has been a PlayStation guy for all my life and will get PS5, I’m honestly really against exclusives, games should not be exclusive to one platform. Everyone no matter the platform should be able play em.
One of my favorite games of 2019 was Ace Combat 7 which was originally going to be exclusive to PS4 but ended up going multi-platform instead which made me happy. Because not only is it getting the game in more hands it’s also more money being made for the team that made it. It’s a win win in my book.

There is a case for platform exclusivity though. Essentially, you need to write a whole new code from platform to platform, which takes time and money. However, I will say that Sony's decision to ban crossplay was an absolute mistake.
Some games don't go exclusive because of deals made by the platform holder, some go exclusive because of budget constraints to port to other platforms or they're past games didn't sell well on that platform.
I don't understand why you think that 1st party exclusives, meaning games made by the console manufacturer, shouldn't be exclusive to their hardware.
I could understand if you mean games by 3rd party developers being exclusive, like Yakuza games, but 1st party exclusives like God of War, Day's Gone and Everybody's Golf are fair game to me, since they are made by the same company that makes the hardware that the game is made for.

@@silentlore2458 actually PC gaming makes more than consoles do. Now if you take all consoles combined that's a lot and makes more than PC alone, but individually? No PC has consoles best. Take a look at statistics for 2019 on the gaming market. I posted a link in a comment earlier today. Consoles ( combined) made around 47 billion I think. PC by itself made 35 or 36 billion. ( number may not be fully accurate, but you get the idea). If console exclusive games go to PC this is why. Console manufacturers know they would make more money, and probably would have less chance of PC gamers emulating games. While there are legal methods they know we can and they don't like it because it's true. Many PC gamers are scummy. This is a low percentage, but games get thrown onto the internet and they cannot stop them all. But we PC that just want to game do emulate the right way and only for personal use and after the life cycle ends.

Honestly, if I never needed a console and even if they released a game I want exclusively on console, I would just...give up the game. There are many games out there now and there will most likely come again some new game that I want, but not an exclusive unlike the former one.

@@akaiyoru2681 PC has so many games there's no reason to worry about not having anything to play. I only missed the Halo games from back when they were on PC, but now they're all being ported anyway.
Nintendo consoles are the only ones that actually go for a different market, so that's the only experience you can't get better on PC, only because you can't get it on PC at all. But then I have Morrowind on my phone, which practically makes the Switch irrelevant too.

I was a console gamer for 30 years and have just stated playing on PC a month ago after building my own rig. This guy had no idea how hard it is to game on a PC. Using a keyboard and mouse takes lots of real work, real movements. So if a PC gamer is an "elitist" they worked they're 10 fingers to the bone to learn muscle memory for the games, unlike concole gamers that use 4 fingers.
In part true, but after a good 15 years with keyboard and mouse where i was kind of good in competitive play i can assure i totally had to practice a lot recently playing a few game more suited for a pad. Was kind of mindblowing XD Guess it's totally more about what you are used to play with.
It's not difficult to use keyboard and mouse, you just need to get used to it.
You should have seen me playing Minecraft back in 2010 with a laptop and using the trackpad exclusively. I actually beat Skyrim and Fallout New Vegas like that, too. 😂

Games come out and 80% of the game is in a day one update......You need to install and update the game on xbox unless you just play offline. Don't act like on console you get to come home with the disc and immediately play.

Things like Mame or 8-16 bit console from mid nineties would have been forgotten if not for PC emulation due to il's hardware failing and all, console wise they are kind of reporpousing those just recently cause all that PC retrogaming kept that relevant

Just had a talk with a coworker, there are gonna still be those parents or folks that don't want to spend 1k-3k on a setup so a console is much easier to get. I myself have a switch, PC and an Xbox so... I have 0 issues with exclusives on PC. Makes me feel like my PC is gaining more value.

srsly though, my pc is exactly like it was when my dad bought it for my 16th or 17th birthday, more than 10 years ago (except two graphics card upgrades). my dad literally spent less than 900 €. i can play everything from diablo 2 to doom 4 on high settings without issues. having to spend AT LEAST 1 k on a decent pc for gaming is nothing but a myth. i mean, to be fair, i will likely have to upgrade soon because now there are a few games that i actually won't be able to play, but still, that's 900 € for over 10 years of gaming.

Consoles are easy to start on, but Steam Big Picture and wireless controllers are a good gateway drug to glorious PCMR :P All platforms deserve Skyrim mods, not all get them.
If monopoly/exclusivity is seen as a benefit or necessity, it is of no use arguing with people :D PC gamers endorse games on all platforms, they just choose one over the other :)
Exclusivity ensures survival of ones product and sadly the consumer gets dragged into this.. this is a necessary evil for the companies. Even on pc there is exclusivity seen(steam and epic ig, im not really sure)

Isnt the code literally on the game disc? Why dont they just remaster games like bluepoint does and just reverse engineer whats already on the disc?
@@johnwerner6445 Actually no. What's on the disc is the final build of the game. It's not source code, it's a compiled executable. Source code is just a bunch of text files. They have to be run through a compiler which creates an executable binary which the OS can run.
It might not always be possible to reverse engineer the source code from a final build. It's common practice to make it incredibly tough or impossible to do so to protect software IPs.
But Square loosing their own source code is another level of stupid. If an IP is valuable thought, there will mostly be multiple copies/repositories of the source. It's bad software development.

Apparently, the reason why there hasn't been a new F-Zero game, is because Nintendo will not make a new game, unless they can attach some gimmick to it, like motion-controls, or a tablet.
All F-Zero needs, is better graphics, better framerates, online multiplayer, buildable tracks & vehicles. But that's not good enough for Nintendo. If they can't make us play it in a new way, then they won't make the game.
This maybe the same reason, why we don't have a new Metroid game.

correction: consoles HAD their place in the gaming world, back when going at a friend's house was the best and easiest way to play games together, and games could randomly decide to NOT work on your PC for no apparent reason (evern refusing to install): A console game would always work on console, no question asked.
But these advantages from consoles have faded away by now: playing online is far easier, and technical issues far less numerous.. and as a bonus, a computer is both a gaming AND a communication and work tool: same as why mobile gaming makes so much money compared to most portable consoles (although here portable consoles still clearly have a place, seeing as 99% of mobile games are crappy, blatant cash grabs with no quality)
Also cross play is a thing quite often these days.

Now PC's have much more usage, and are much more practical than consoles. And you can often get better performance with them than consoles in the 3-400$ price point.
Also the fact that online play on PC is completely free compared to Xbox live and PlayStation Plus.

It’s funny because even with slow internet on a pc your game will download faster. You have faster storage, faster cpu, faster ram, which all of that combined makes the system unpack all of the information faster and write it to your storage quicker.
